DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0021] Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1-3, a basketball playing table in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises an elongated table face 10, and a ball emitting device 20.

[0022] The table face 10 has two ends provided with two end plates 11 and two sides provided with two side plates 13. Each of the two end plates 11 has an inner side provided with a basket 12. One of the two side plates 13 of the table face 10 is formed with a ball inlet port 17 and a ball outlet port 18. The basketball playing table further comprises a transparent protective hood 19 mounted on the top of the table face 10.

[0023] The table face 10 includes two operation rods 14 each movably and rotatably mounted between the two side plates 13, and two defense dolls 15 each rotatably mounted on a respective one of the two operation rods 14. Each of the two operation rods 14 has a mediate portion formed with a U-shaped bent portion 140 for mounting the respective defense doll 15. Each of the two defense dolls 15 has a mediate portion rotatably mounted on the respective operation rod 14 and has a center of gravity located at the lower portion thereof, so that each of the two defense dolls 15 is maintained at an upright state during rotation of the respective operation rod 14.

[0024] The ball emitting device 20 is mounted on one of the two side plates 13 of the table face 10 for emitting a ball (see FIG. 5) into the table face 10.

[0025] Referring to FIGS. 4 and 4A with reference to FIGS. 1-3, the ball emitting device 20 includes a fixing seat 22 secured on an outer side of the respective side plate 13 of the table face 10 and provided with a support tube 220 having a first end protruded outward from the fixing seat 22 and a second end secured in the respective side plate 13 of the table face 10, a bent ball emitting tube 25 mounted in the table face 10 and having a first end mounted on the second end of the support tube 220 and a second end provided with a ball emitting port 28 protruded outward from a bottom of the table face 10, a ball hitting shaft 24 slidably mounted in the ball emitting tube 25 and having a first end protruded outward from the first end of the support tube 220, a control handle 21 secured on the first end of the ball hitting shaft 24, and a spring 23 mounted on the ball hitting shaft 24 and urged between the support tube 220 and a second end of the ball hitting shaft 24.

[0026] The control handle 21 has an inner wall formed with a flattened face 212, and the first end of the ball hitting shaft 24 has a periphery formed with a flattened face 242 rested on the flattened face 212 of the control handle 21, so that the control handle 21 is not rotated relative to the ball hitting shaft 24.

[0027] The control handle 21 is formed with a through hole 213, the first end of the ball hitting shaft 24 is formed with a screw bore 243, and the ball emitting device 20 further includes a locking screw 210 extended through the through hole 213 of the control handle 21 and screwed into the screw bore 243 of the ball hitting shaft 24, thereby fixing the control handle 21 on the ball hitting shaft 24.

[0028] The second end of the ball hitting shaft 24 is formed with an enlarged head 244, and the spring 23 has a first end rested on the second end of the support tube 220 and a second end rested on the enlarged head 244 of the ball hitting shaft 24. Preferably, the enlarged head 244 of the ball hitting shaft 24 is provided with an eccentric post 246 rested on the ball as shown in FIG. 5.

[0029] The first end of the ball emitting tube 25 is provided with a fixing plate 250 secured on an inner side of the respective side plate 13 of the table face 10. The second end of the ball emitting tube 25 is provided with two fixing pieces 27 each secured on the bottom of the table face 10. The ball emitting tube 25 has a mediate portion provided with a ball collection port 26 connected to the ball inlet port 17, so that the ball 30 is introduced from the ball inlet port 17 through the ball collection port 26 into the ball emitting tube 25.

[0030] As shown in FIG. 5, the ball 30 is introduced through the ball collection port 26 into the ball emitting tube 25. Then, the control handle 21 is pulled outward to move the ball hitting shaft 24 outward and to compress the spring 23 as shown in FIG. 5A. Then, the force applied on the control handle 21 is removed, so that the ball hitting shaft 24 is moved inward by the restoring force of the spring 23, and the eccentric post 246 of the ball hitting shaft 24 is moved to hit the ball 30, thereby emitting the ball 30 outward from the ball emitting port 28 of the ball emitting tube 25 as shown in FIG. 5B.

[0031] In practice, when the ball 30 is ejected outward from the ball emitting port 28 of the ball emitting tube 25, the ball 30 is directed toward the basket 12 as shown in FIG. 3 to simulate the throwing action. In such a manner, each of the two operation rods 14 can be moved horizontally between the two side plates 13 and can be rotated relative to the two side plates 13, so that each of the two defense dolls 15 can be driven to move horizontally and vertically between the two side plates 13 as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, to perform the defense action, so as to catch and stop the ball 30, thereby preventing the ball 30 from being thrown into the basket 12. Then, the ball 30 can be guided by a guide device (not shown) mounted on the bottom of the table face 10 to the ball outlet port 18.

[0032] Referring to FIG. 6, the basketball playing table in accordance with another embodiment of the present invention further comprises two second operation rods 40 each movably and rotatably mounted between the two side plates 13, and a plurality of offense dolls 41 mounted on a respective one of the two second operation rods 40. Thus, the offense dolls 41 can be used to receive the ball 30 to decide the second offense right.

[0033] Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.
