Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] 1. Field of the Invention

[0002] This invention is related to an improvement in the structure of a ceiling board which can be used for distinguishing fire and alleviating heat of summer.

[0003] 2. Description of the Prior Art

[0004] The conventional plastic ceiling board for use with light steel frames will bum rapidly and produce poisonous smokes in case of fire accident thereby making it difficult for the people to escape out of the spot and causing catastrophe. Hence, it has been proposed to manufacture ceilings with other materials than plastic, but they still suffer from the following drawbacks:

[0005] 1. Plaster ceiling:

[0006] Plaster ceiling will produce dust and is readily deformed and become mildewed and cannot be recycled thus polluting the environment.

[0007] 2. Metallic ceiling:

[0008] Metallic ceiling is too expensive to promote and cannot insulate heat transmission.

[0009] 3. Foam plastic ceiling board:

[0010] Foam plastic ceiling board will produce thick smoke in case of fire and is too light to be used in a windy place.

[0011] Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide an improved plastic ceiling board which can obviate and mitigate the above-mentioned drawbacks.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0012] This invention is related to an improvement in the structure of a plastic ceiling board.

[0013] According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a plastic ceiling board includes a hollow plastic body having an open front side and an open rear side, the hollow plastic body having an interior divided into a plurality of longitudinal chambers having an open front end and an open rear end, each of the longitudinal chambers being filled with liquid fire distinguishing material, a first plastic strip engaged with the front side of the hollow plastic body, and a second plastic strip engaged with the rear side of the hollow plastic body.

[0014] It is the primary object of the present invention to provide an improved plastic ceiling board which can provide sufficient time for people to escape from a fire.

[0015] It is another object of the present invention to provide an improved plastic ceiling board which can be used for distinguishing a fire.

[0016] It is still another object of the present invention to provide an improved plastic ceiling board which can effectively alleviate the heat of summer.

[0017] It is still another object of the present invention to provide an improved plastic ceiling board which can effectively alleviate the heat of summer.

[0018] It is a further object of the present invention to provide an improved plastic ceiling board which can reduce the amount of smoke generated in a fire.

[0019] The foregoing objects and summary provide only a brief introduction to the present invention. To fully appreciate these and other objects of the present invention as well as the invention itself, all of which will become apparent to those skilled in the art, the following detailed description of the invention and the claims should be read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. Throughout the specification and drawings identical reference numerals refer to identical or similar parts. Many other advantages and features of the present invention will become manifest to those versed in the art upon making reference to the detailed description and the accompanying sheets of drawings in which a preferred structural embodiment incorporating the principles of the present invention is shown by way of illustrative example.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0020] FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention;

[0021] FIG. 2 is a sectional view taken along line 2-2 of FIG. 1;

[0022] FIG. 3 is an exploded view of the present invention;

[0023] FIG. 4 is a working view of the present invention; and

[0024] FIG. 4A is an enlarged fragmentary view of FIG. 4.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0025] For the purpose of promoting an understanding of the principles of the invention, reference will now be made to the embodiment illustrated in the drawings. Specific language will be used to describe same. It will, nevertheless, be understood that no limitation of the scope of the invention is thereby intended, such alterations and further modifications in the illustrated device, and such further applications of the principles of the invention as illustrated herein being contemplated as would normally occur to one skilled in the art to which the invention relates.

[0026] Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the plastic ceiling board 11 according to the present invention is a rectangular hollow body the interior of which is divided by a plurality of longitudinal partitions 14 into a plurality of longitudinal chambers 12. A liquid fire distinguishing material 13 such as water is filled into each of the chambers 12 thereby providing the plastic ceiling board 11 with fire-distinguishing function.

[0027] FIG. 3 is an exploded view of the present invention. As shown, the interior of the plastic ceiling board 11 is equally divided by the partitions 14 into a plurality of chambers 12. The rear side 122 of the plastic ceiling board 11 is sealed by a plastic strip 16 by means of ultrasonic welding (or high frequency welding), so that the edge 161 of the plastic ceiling board 11 is closely engaged with the periphery of the rear side 122 of the plastic ceiling board 11. Then, the liquid fire distinguishing material 13 such as water is filled into the chambers 12. Thereafter, the front side 121 of the plastic ceiling board 11 is sealed by a plastic strip 15 by means of ultrasonic welding (or high frequency welding) so that the edge 151 of the plastic strip 15 is closely engaged with the periphery of the front side 121 of the plastic ceiling board 11. In order to prevent the plastic ceiling board 11 from exploding due to the expansion of water at hot or cold weather, it is recommended to fill 60-80% of the space of the chamber 12 with water.

[0028] FIGS. 4 and 4A illustrate the engagement between the plastic ceiling board 10 according to the present invention and a light steel frame 20. As illustrated, the light steel frame 20 is first fixed in place, and then the plastic ceiling board 10 is mounted on the light steel frame 20. As each of the plastic ceiling board 10 is filled with the liquid fire-distinguishing material 13 such as water, there will be a large amount of water in the ceiling so that in case of fire accident, the plastic ceiling board 10 will release a large amount of water to lower the temperature thereby blocking the spread of the fire and therefore providing sufficient time for people to escape from a fire.

[0029] Furthermore, the number of the partitions 14 may be changed or omitted as required, depending upon the size of the plastic ceiling board 10.

[0030] In conclusion, the plastic ceiling board according to the present invention has the following advantages:

[0031] 1. The plastic ceiling board 10 can be readily removed from the ceiling and thrown into the fire to distinguish it.

[0032] 2. The water within the plastic ceiling board 10 can increase the combustion temperature of the plastic ceiling board 10 thereby providing more time for people to escape from a fire.

[0033] 3. The plastic ceiling board 10 can effective insulate heat and sound transmission and is water-proof and resistant to corrosion.

[0034] 4. The plastic ceiling board 10 can be used for distinguishing fire and blocking the spread of fire.

[0035] 5. The plastic ceiling board 10 can decrease the amount of smoke generated during fire accident.

[0036] 6. The plastic ceiling board 10 is lightweight, readily assembled and mounted on light steel frames.

[0037] 7. The plastic ceiling board 10 is easy to be manufactured, low in cost and fit for mass production.

[0038] It will be understood that each of the elements described above, or two or more together may also find a useful application in other types of methods differing from the type described above.

[0039] While certain novel features of this invention have been shown and described and are pointed out in the annexed claim, it is not intended to be limited to the details above, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions and changes in the forms and details of the device illustrated and in its operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing in any way from the spirit of the present invention.
