Universal extra shade tent structure to hand held umbrella

Abstract

The present invention Universal extra shade tent structure to hand held umbrella refers to a shelter from a folding hand umbrella and a double version combination of separated additional tent sections that may be connected to the umbrella skeleton arms at several end points of the umbrella, when the umbrella is in open form. The first version of the separated additional tent section consists of several telescopic or other types of poles, soft light walls, and an underlay. The hard poles are joined to the umbrella skeleton arms by a sliding, or other type of connectors and connect to attach by the other end to natural soil, ground, grass, sand, or an underlay that provides fixation or to any outdoor beds, or to other objects for tent stability. When the shelter is in standing form, the lever handle of the umbrella can be removed by twisting off or otherwise removing from the structure, or minimized by sliding upward, or bending horizontally to the side into a compact position. The second version of additional tent sections is comprised of telescopic or other extensions to the umbrella hand lever to form a central supporting pole, several soft pulls, soft light walls, ground anchors, and an underlay. The standing form of the tent structure consists of a lever extension connected to the umbrella hand lever that reaches to the ground, and of soft pulls connected to the umbrella skeleton and at the other end are joined to ground, ground anchors, outdoor bed, an underlay, or to other objects or places, which help maintain the umbrella-tent structure in a vertical position. In both variations, the umbrella and the affixed tent poles or pulls combine to create the skeleton of a tent structure wherein portable side walls from flexible materials can be optionally affixed to the tent poles or pulls on one, two, three, four, or more sides to provide desired amounts of enclosure, shade, or protection from the elements, allowing the user to regulate the desired amount of structural enclosure. The variation of a Hand held umbrella to universal extra shade tent structure wherein the umbrella skeleton consists of three or more telescopic arm-pole combinations made from collapsible materials that can turn and come back to departure, wherein the telescopic pole is inside arms in the umbrella unfolding position, and outside arms, when telescopic poles support the tent structure in the unfolding umbrella-tent position, herewith soft walls and a soft umbrella roof can be separate or as one product, and walls slide-connected to telescopic arm-poles can partly or fully cover the unfolding umbrella-tent structure. The present invention has universal uses as a hand umbrella, beach umbrella, shelter, canopy, tent, and group hand held umbrella that give full or partial protection that can be carried by one or a few people.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Statement of the field of Endeavor: United States Patent Class 135.

The present invention relates to Universal extra shade tent structure to hand held umbrella. More particularly, the present invention relates to the double use of a hand held umbrella to provide a central support umbrella roof and pole or pull attachments to comprise the main skeleton to which optional wall attachments can be added to form a partial or complete enclosure. Hand held umbrella, beach umbrella, stationary or other umbrella can be connected to the Universal extra tent shade structure that can have a double use as a, shelter, canopy, and tent with complete or partial enclosure.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART

Devices such as umbrellas, canopies, and tents are widely used outdoors. They are familiar features of gardens, yards, patios, restaurants, beaches, pools, parks and many other places.

There presently exist many variations of umbrellas. For example: hand held umbrellas, beach umbrellas, table umbrellas, and other umbrellas. There are many patents for the umbrella apparatus. Every patent of umbrella is always comprised of a central handle and folding skeleton, which can slide along a handle to support the umbrella skeleton in an unfolding position.

Inventors have proposed protective enclosures for temporary outdoor structures. Additionally, some inventors have proposed mechanisms to extend and retract umbrella enclosures.

FOR EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 144,792, November 1873, to Prentiss describes a portable combination of umbrella and netting. The net material is attached to the periphery of the umbrella's canopy. This enclosure is long enough to reach the ground.

FOR EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 2,502,984, April 1950, to Parmenter describes an umbrella said to provide enhanced, adjustable protection from the elements.

FOR EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 2,546,228, March 1951, to Martini describes a transparent shield suspended from an umbrella.

FOR EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 2,661,752, December 1953, to Kampf et al. describes a “garden” type umbrella with a hollow support. The support contains a cord used to manipulate the umbrella's canopy. One end of the cord is attached to a runner on the support. The cord's other end, after passing through a pulley, is connected to a manually operated reel.

FOR EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 3,477,453, November 1969, to D'Ulisse and D'ulisse describes a net for converting an umbrella to a shelter from insects. It consists of a dome-shaped net covering for beach-type umbrellas, adapted to rest on the roof of the umbrella. It possesses sidewalls that extend to the ground. A hole is provided in the center of the covering to permit protrusion of the umbrella support pole. Loops are provided at the bottom perimeter of the wall for the purpose of staking the walls to the ground. Devices are provided on the dome for securing walls to the umbrella.

FOR EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 4,022,233, May 1977, to Grundman describes an umbrella with an attached retractable protective material.

FOR EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 4,086,931, May 1978, to Hall describes an umbrella whose support is located off-center, at the side of its canopy. The space under the umbrella is enclosed by means of fabric segments suspended from its periphery.

FOR EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 4,202,363, May 1980, to Watts et al. describes a collapsible, combination umbrella and tent. The support frame is attached to two central hubs mounted on a central pole. Movement of these hubs facilitates erection and collapsing of the structure and its covering.

FOR EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 5,678,587, October 1997, to Bilotti describes an umbrella net that provides a drawstring for adjusting the height of the umbrella's net wall. It also offers a method for withdrawing the wall into a sleeve-like storage space located under the peripheral edge of the umbrella.

FOR EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 5,806,547, September 1998, to Derlinga describes a combination umbrella and gazebo. Walls dropped from the canopy of the umbrella define the structure as a gazebo. A stepped sequence of cords is attached at one end to a crank. The cords provide a way to raise and lower the sides.

FOR EXAMPLE, U.S. Pat. No. 6,009,891, January 2000, to Surface, Decker, and Fanti describes a screen enclosure system providing a tether system attachable to the umbrella and shaped to form an exoskeleton over the umbrella The skeleton is made by attaching many individual tethers to the umbrella over the spines of the umbrella. Also provided is a screening system attached to the exoskeleton by fasteners.

FOR EXAMPLE, U.S. patent application Ser. No. 2002/0108645, August 2002 to Andrea Beyer, Steven Beyer, relates to an umbrella, tent, or canopy, specifically to an umbrella with a storage chamber for an enclosure canopy of netting, and having mechanisms for canopy deployment, retraction, and interchange.

Collapsible tents, such as umbrella tents, are well known in the art. The term “umbrella tent” is commonly used in the trade because the frames for such tents can be erected and collapsed in much the same manner as an umbrella.

Some exemplary collapsible umbrella-tents are shown in, for example, U.S. patent application Ser. No. 2001/0007260 (G.Rousselle et al ); U.S. Pat. No. 5,871,026 {Tu Lin}; U.S. Pat. No. 5,230,358 (Forell); U.S. Pat. No. 4,945,936 (D. Surrendi); U.S. Pat. No. 4,202,363 (Watts et al.); U.S. Pat. No. 3,929,146 (Maiken); and U.S. Pat. No. 2,771,087 (Simonson). In these structures, there is no handle at the center of the umbrella-tent skeleton. Instead of a handle, there exists a soft cord or a frame locking mechanism.

There are many known kinds of hand held umbrella's. There are many known kinds of tents. There are many known kinds of umbrella-tents, whose skeleton can be erected and collapsed in much the same manner as an umbrella.

There are no prototype patents of any extra tent/shelter/structure, which is connected together with the skeleton of hand held or other umbrella that can be used as a universal comfortable shelter, canopy, or other tent structure with complete or partial enclosure.

There are no prototype patents of hand held umbrellas to any extra tent structure, whose skeleton arms, as needed, can be connected to separate parts of extra tent structures, and whose hand held lever handle, in the form of the umbrella-tent structure, can be disconnected, or by other way, can remove or shift from its vertical position under the umbrella skeleton roof.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, Universal extra shade tent structure to hand held umbrella comprising of the following extra structural features:

• • three or more telescopic, folding or other poles, with special connectors on the ends, which join poles, by one end, to unfold umbrella skeleton arms and also to the apex of the hand lever, and by the second end, to the ground, to an outdoor bed, to an underlay, or to any other object;
  • soft light walls, for extra shade or tent structure, which join to one, two, three, four or more sides of the skeleton's poles, to umbrella arms, to ground anchors, to a ground underlay, to an outdoor bed or to any other object, by dint of special connectors or appliances, or that can be steadied with bags that can be filled up with sand, stone, water or other material for stability of the tent structure;
  • a soft, flexible, light underlay, with holes and special connectors for joining it to poles, to ground anchors, and to soft, light walls, or that can be steadied with bags that can be filled up with sand, stone, water or other material for stability of the tent structure;

Hand held umbrella to universal extra shade tent structure, in which a hand held central lever consists of two parts joined to one other, wherein one part of lever, in the unfolded umbrella-tent position, supports umbrella arms, wherewith the second, lower part of lever with handle, can be removed from umbrella, or can telescope in the first part to extend downward to provide a central supporting pole, or can be turned in a horizontal position and lock into the umbrella frame.

Hand held umbrella to universal extra shade tent structure, in which a hand held lever with a handle can slide and stay over the umbrella roof in the umbrella-tent unfolded position.

Another embodiment of the present invention Universal extra shade tent structure to hand held umbrella comprising of the following extra structural features:

• • telescopic, folding or other lever extension with special appliances on the ends, which join it, by one end, to the umbrella hand held lever, and by second end, to the ground, to an outdoor bed, or to any other object or place in a vertical position;
  • three or more soft pulls, with special connectors on the ends, which join pulls, by one end, to the arms and also to the apex or other place of unfolded umbrella handle, and by the second end, to ground anchors, an outdoor bed, or any other object, where the umbrella is held in a vertical position;
  • a soft light wall, which partly or all over joins to pulls, to umbrella arms, to ground anchors, to a ground underlay, to an outdoor bed, or to any other object by dint of special connectors or appliances, and that may be steadied with bags that can fill up with sand, stone, water or other materials for stability of the tent structure;
  • a soft, light underlay with a special appliance on the center for joining a lever extension to the ground, and special appliances or holes, for joining pulls to the ground anchors that may be steadied with bags, sand, a stone, water or other materials for stability of the tent structure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference to the drawings, an embodiment of a Universal extra shade tent structure to hand held umbrella is illustrated that is constructed in accordance with the present invention.

Universal extra shade tent structure to hand held umbrella shown in FIGS. 1A to 1F, 2A to 2E, 3A to 3J is comprised of the following extra structural features:

• • three or more hard poles 14, with special appliances 14b on the ends, which joins poles 14, by one end, to unfolded umbrella arms 10 and perhaps also to the top apex of the lever 12d, and by the second end, to the ground 20, or to an outdoor bed 22, or to an underlay 18, or to any other object;
  • a soft light wall 16a,b,c,d, for extra shade or tent structure enclosure, which partly or all over joins to hard poles 14, to umbrella arms 10, to a ground underlay 18, an outdoor bed 22, or any other object, by dint of connectors or appliances;
  • a soft light underlay 18, with holes and connectors for hard poles 14 and any other appliances, as needed. The soft underlay can include soft walls and soft pulls as one product.

A universal tent structure can work with any kind of hand held beach umbrella, but the most comfortable umbrella-tent structure uses an umbrella, whose handle lever can be taken out FIG. 1D,1F and FIG. 3H to 3J, or can be turned horizontally FIG. 1E and FIG. 3E to 3G., or can slide over the umbrella's roof FIGS. 2A to 2E and FIG. 3A to 3D.

A soft underlay 18, and walls 16 may be partly comprised of bags, which can fill up with sand, stone, water or other substances, and be used to add stability to the umbrella-tent structure.

The soft underlay 18 can include soft walls 16 and soft pulls 14a as one product.

Claims

1. A device as described herein.

2. A method as described herein.

3. Universal extra shade tent structure to hand held umbrella comprising of the following extra structural features:

(a.) three or more telescopic, folding or other hard poles joined, by special connectors or appliances, by one end, to umbrella skeleton arms, and by the other end, if necessary, to the left and right symmetrical umbrella's arms by soft pulls, triangle peaces of fabric, or other soft wall materials instead pulls, or to the ground, outdoor bed, chair, underlay, mattress, table, fishing boat, or to any other object or combination of objects, herewith umbrella-tent design can be changed depending upon how many poles the umbrella supports;

(b.) one or more walls, made of any design from soft, light, and flexible materials, including special connectors that connect to any number of points, or are completely connected to poles that comprise the skeleton, and to umbrella arms, ground anchors, underlay, outdoor bed, or to any other object, or combination of objects, herewith soft walls can include, if necessary, extra bags, that can fill up with sand, stone, gravel, water, or other outdoor materials to insure further stability of the umbrella-tent structure;

(c.) mattress or any other underlay, if necessary, that has holes, special connectors or other appliances that can join it to the poles, soft light walls, ground, or to any other object, and the underlay can include extra bags that can fill up with sand, stone, gravel, water, or other outdoor materials to insure further stability of the umbrella-tent structure, herewith the underlay, if necessary, can be include soft walls, poles, bag for transportation and others as a one product.

Hand held umbrella to universal extra shade tent structure of claim 3, wherein an umbrella hand lever consisting of two parts joined to one another by screw-thread, swivel, telescopic joint, or any other joint, herewith a top part of the hand lever always supports an umbrella unfolded skeleton and other part of the hand held handle, can be removed, turned horizontally, or slide inside the top part of the umbrella-tent position.

Hand held umbrella to universal extra shade tent structure of claim 3, wherein the swivel-block of the umbrella skeleton roof and the swivel-block that supports the umbrella skeleton can slide along the handle lever, which in the unfolded umbrella position is under the umbrella roof supports the umbrella skeleton, or, in the umbrella-tent unfolding position, slide over the umbrella roof and then support the umbrella skeleton, herewith a hand lever can, if necessary, be taken out from unfolded umbrella-tent structure, if umbrella's swivel-blocks are joined one other by independent connector that is not joined to the hand lever.

Hand held umbrella to universal extra shade tent structure of claim 3, claim 4, claim 5 wherein the umbrella skeleton consisting of three or more telescopic arm-pole combinations, made from collapsible materials that can turn and come back to departure, and where telescopic poles are inside the arms in the umbrella unfolding position, or outside the arms, when telescopic poles are supported unfolding umbrella-tent structure, herewith soft walls can be separate or as one product with a soft roof, can slide to connect telescopic arm-poles and partly or fully cover the unfolding umbrella-tent structure.

7. Universal extra shade tent structure to hand held umbrella of claim 3, claim 4, claim 5 wherein umbrella-tent poles have a second use as hand held extra handles to hand held umbrella-tent, that give sun and rain protection to a persons carrying the umbrella-tent structure.

8. Universal extra shade tent structure to hand held umbrella comprising the following extra structural features:

(a) telescopic or other lever extension with special appliances on the ends, which by one end join it to the hand held central umbrella handle, and by second end, join it in vertical position to the ground, outdoor bed, or any other object, place, or combination of objects if necessary;

(b) three or more soft pulls with special connectors, which by the one end, join pulls to the top apex of the unfolded umbrella handle and also to the end of umbrella skeleton arms and by the second end, can be attached to ground anchors, outdoor bed, or any other object or combination of objects to maintain the umbrella tent in vertical position, herewith the tent design can be changed depending on how many pulls support an umbrella;

(c) one or more walls made of any design from soft, flexible, light materials, has special connectors, that can connect walls at any number of points, or are completely to soft pulls that comprise the umbrella-tent skeleton, to umbrella arms, ground anchors, underlay, outdoor bed, or any other object or combination of objects, and can include extra bags that fill up sand, stone, gravel, water, or other materials that insure further stability of the umbrella-tent structure if necessary;

(d) underlay made of any design from soft, flexible, light materials having a hole or special appliance in the center for affixing the central umbrella handle extension to the ground, with additional holes or special appliances or connectors joining the underlay to soft pulls, ground anchors, and to soft, light walls, and an underlay can include extra bags, that fill up with sand, stone, gravel, water, or other materials to insure further stability of the umbrella-tent structure.

9. Universal extra shade tent structure to hand held umbrella of claim 3, and claim 7 wherein parts of extra shade tent structure, can be used with any stationary beach or other umbrella.
