Abstract

The piece of choker jewelry or decoration comprises a Pencil Sea Urchin with a type of mounting that allows it to be threaded through the mounting eye and hung by a leather cord, suede cord, satin cord, rope cord, hoop or chain solely or with varied bead decoration and with the Urchin Deco Slip Bead, used on all cord type media, to serve as the choker closure and as the multi-adjusting length function of the Urchin Deco Design Choker or Charm.

I claim priority to my Provisional Application #22151 U.S. PTO No. 60/502,413 filed Sep. 12, 2003.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a piece of jewelry, in particular, but not exclusively, it relates to a choker type necklace, bracelet, wine glass or bottle necklace charm. It is very common that the owner would be very interested in this piece of jewelry due to its unusual artistic value related to the natural beauty of the Pencil Sea Urchin.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The Urchin Deco Design Pencil Sea Urchin Spine mounted choker is a jewelry utility design utilizing the Hetero Centrolus Mammelatus Spine aka Pencil Sea Urchin Spine by mounting it, hanging or threading it, either solely or with other bead type media, on to a cord type media or chain through mounting eye, thus creating the Urchin Deco Design Pencil Sea Urchin Mounted Choker or Charm.

BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS OF THE INVENTION

The present invention seeks to provide a piece of choker jewelry or decoration which can be hung from the neck of a person or other object such as a wine bottle or wine glass. The piece of choker jewelry or decoration comprises a Pencil Sea Urchin with a type of mounting that allows it to be threaded through the mounting eye and hung by a leather cord, suede cord, satin cord, rope cord, hoop or chain solely or with varied bead decoration and with the Urchin Deco Slip Bead, used on all cord type media, to serve as the choker closure and as the multi-adjusting length function of the Urchin Deco Design Choker or Charm.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH ATTACHED DRAWINGS

Materials:

• • A. Pencil Sea Urchin Spine (Hetero Hetero Centrolus Mammelatus Spine)
  • B. 2″ Long Eye Pin type mounting finding gold or silver
  • C. 24″ Length of {fraction (1/32)}″, {fraction (1/16)}″ or ⅛″ wide cord of leather, suede, satin, rope, hoop or chain
  • D. {fraction (1/32)}″ to ½″ diameter center hole Beads
  • E. Mini Pliers with cutter edge for cutting soft metal
  • F. Mini Scissors
  • G. Clear Crafts Glue with fast drying agent
  • H. Drill with {fraction (1/32)}″, {fraction (1/16)}″ or ⅛″ drill bits
  • I. Ruler or measuring device in inches
  • J. Felt Tip Pen

FIG. 1 is the drilling of the sea urchin spine, drill a {fraction (1/32)}″ up to a ⅛″ diameter and ¼″ in depth hold in the spine in a locale that is best for mounting the type eye finding, either in the spine tip, core or any other selected place on the spine. Remove any debris from drilled hole by blowing in hole or by lightly tapping urchin spine.

FIG. 2 is the measuring of the eye pin to fit the drilled hole in the urchin spine by using a ruler or measuring device measure a ¼″ distance from the base of the eye of the finding down the eye pin and mark with felt tip pen.

FIG. 3 is the cutting of the eye pin by using mini pliers with cutting edge to cut eye pin at ¼″ mark. Dispose of unused portion of finding pin without eye portion.

FIG. 4 is the mounting & securing of the eye pin into the urchin spine by placing a drop of fast drying crafts glue into the drilled hole of the sea urchin spine.

FIG. 5 is the mounting of the eye pin into the urchin spine by placing ¼″ length glue coated portion of the eye finding into drilled hole of the sea urchin spine allowing glue to dry the finding in place. Be sure to position eye in desired position prior to allowing complete drying.

FIG. 6 is the reinforce gluing of eye pin & urchin spine assembly by adding one more drop of fast drying clear craft glue into the hole drilled containing the already inserted eye finding. Clear eye pin eye hole of excess glue by blowing through hole then let the additional gluing dry completely.

FIG. 7 is the threading of the cord or hoop and the mounted urchin spine by threading the 24″ long, {fraction (1/32)}″ to ⅛″ wide leather, suede, satin, rope, hoop or chain through the eye portion of the eye pin finding which is glued into the sea urchin spine. If cord portion is too thick to thread through the eye pin, then trim each end of cord with scissors.

FIG. 8 is the threading of the cord or hoop until the eye portion is positioned at the halfway point of the leather, suede, satin, rope or chain.

FIG. 9 is the assembly of the Urchin Deco Head Bead decoration by selecting a compatible bead with a {fraction (1/32)}″ to ⅛″ in diameter hole, depending on cord used, and thread both ends of the leather, suede, satin, rope, hoop or chain thru the bead.

FIG. 10 is the final assembly of the Urchin Deco Head Bead by pulling bead down over the eye pin head. It may be necessary to use the mini pliers to squeeze together the head of the eye pin for a better bead fit over eye pin. This Urchin Deco Head Bead procedure is not completed when using a hoop or chain type cord medium.

FIG. 11 is the assembly of the Urchin Deco Slip Bead by selecting an easily sliding compatible bead with a {fraction (1/32)}″ to ⅛″ in diameter hole, depending on cord used, and thread both ends of the leather, suede, satin, rope or chain thru the bead. If cord portion is too thick to thread through the eye pin, then trim each end of cord with scissors. Pull the easily sliding bead down to the halfway point, approximately 6″ from either end. This Urchin Deco Slip Bead procedure is not completed when using a hoop or chain type cord medium. This Slip Bead will serve as the choker closure and as the multi-adjusting length function of the Urchin Deco Design Choker.

FIG. 12 is the finishing of the raw ends of the leather, suede, satin, rope cord, select a compatible bead with a {fraction (1/32)}″ to ⅛″ in diameter hole, depending on cord used, and thread one end of the leather, suede, satin, rope cord thru the bead. This finishing of raw ends procedure is not completed when using a hoop or chain type cord medium. Repeat this procedure for the remaining raw end of the leather, suede, satin, rope cord with another compatible bead, finishing the ends of the choker.

FIG. 13 is the finishing of the raw ends after end beads are threaded by tying a knot at the end of the leather, suede, satin, rope cord. This finishing of raw ends procedure is not completed when using a hoop or chain type cord medium. Repeat this procedure for the remaining raw end of the leather, suede, satin, rope cord with another compatible bead, finishing the ends of the choker.

Claims

1. A piece of jewelry or decoration according to claim 1, wherein the Pencil Sea Urchin Spine is mounted at any point on the spine by using any finding so as to hang the spine.

2. A piece of jewelry or decoration according to claim 1, wherein the mounted Pencil Sea Urchin Spine piece is a choker to be hung as a decoration.

3. A piece of jewelry or decoration according to claim 1, wherein the Pencil Sea Urchin Spine piece is drilled with any type & various sized drill bits as to create a hole for the various mounting media.

4. A piece of jewelry or decoration according to claim 1, wherein the Pencil Sea Urchin Spine piece is glued with a variety of types of glue, gel or liquid, as to secure the mounting media.

5. A piece of jewelry or decoration according to claim 1, wherein the Pencil Sea Urchin Spine piece is hung on any cord type media, leather, chain or loop.

6. A piece of jewelry or decoration according to claim 1, wherein the Pencil Sea Urchin Spine piece is hung on a cord type media with the open ends of the cord threaded thru the moveable single bead for closure.

7. A piece of jewelry or decoration according to claim 1, wherein the Pencil Sea Urchin Spine piece is hung on a cord type media with the open ends of the cord threaded thru the moveable single bead for length adjustability.

8. A piece of jewelry or decoration according to claim 1, wherein the Pencil Sea Urchin Spine piece is as an earring charm.

9. A piece of jewelry or decoration according to claim 1, wherein the Pencil Sea Urchin Spine piece is as an Christmas holiday decoration ornament.

10. A piece of jewelry or decoration according to claim 1, wherein the Pencil Sea Urchin Spine piece is as an bracelet charm.

11. A piece of jewelry or decoration according to claim 1, wherein the mounted Pencil Sea Urchin Spine piece is a necklace to be hung as a decoration.

12. A piece of jewelry or decoration according to claim 1, wherein the mounted Pencil Sea Urchin Spine piece is a charm to be hung as a decoration.
