An adhesive tape pedestal is equipped with a cyclometer associated with a visual window to indicate the length of tape the user should pull out which just meets with the desired length so as to preclude wasting the tape. Besides, the cyclometer can indicate the total length of tape contained in a roll when it is used up that helps the user check whether or not the actual length of tape in a roll is in comply with the nominal length warranted by the manufacturer. The motion of the bobbin which carries the tape coiled on it is transmitted to actuate the cyclometer either by gear transmission means or by sensor actuating switch.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to an improved structure for an adhesive tape pedestal , and in particular, to a tape pedestal which is associated with a cyclometer to indicate the used portion of the adhesive tape in a roll.

2. Description of the Prior Art

The adhesive tape is too-commonly used every where such as workshops, department stores, and private homes for packaging or fixing object by adhering. It is consumed astonishingly a large amount in department stores during the season of bargain sales. Most of people have experienced that it is tedious to make packages or adhere something with the adhesive tape. First of all, the tip of a roll of tape must be found out, pull out the necessary length of tape, then restore the remained tape back properly. Next time the tape is to be used, the user has to looking for the tip of the tape again.

A somewhat convenient adhesive tape rolls with a tape pedestal have been on the market for a long time, either a handhold type, or an on-table type. For example, a conventional handhold type is shown in FIG. 1. It includes a pedestal 8 with a serrated cutting blade 11 equipped in front of the tip of a tape roll. Behind both sides of the blade 11 are two supporting walls 12 each erected at one side thereof. One of the supporting wall 12 is conjoined to a bobbin 13 around which the tape 2 is coiled. A roller 14 is sandwiched between the two supporting walls 12 and a transmission wheel 15 is provided on each side on the top ends of the walls 12 over the roller 14. A hood 16 for the tape roll is hinged to the rear of the walls 82. When using the tape 5 which is coiled around the bobbin 13, the tip of the tape 5 is pulled out and passed through the clearance between the roller 14 and the transmission wheel 15 to adhere the tape 5 onto the object 6 with a required length, the remaining portion is cut away with the cutting blade 11. By doing so the user may feel better in handling the tape associated with the cutting blade 11 than that without it. However, there is a problem should the supplier of the tape is dishonest enough to sell the tape roll whose length is made purposely shorter than its nominal length, the user can not discover such a shameful behavior could be played in the seller's side because the user is unable to measure how long is the actual length of the tape he/she has bought is after all.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is made for palliating the noticeable defects inherent to the prior arts described above, and for protecting the consumer's right to check up the actual length of the tape contained in a roll after the tape is used up so as to help the user select a good product of another reliable product if necessary.

After a long time effort of study and experiment, the inventor has succeeded in coming out with a novel structure for adhesive tape pedestal as the present invention provides.

Accordingly, present invention is to provide an adhesive tape structure which is associated with a cyclometer that helps the user check the actual length of tape contained in a roll he/she has purchased.

Another, the present invention is to provide a tape pedestal which is equipped with a visual window so as to enable the user to observe from the cyclometer indication the length of a tape section being pulled out for use thereby assisting the user to pull out just a sufficient length of tape from the roll.

Still another, this improved structure for tape pedestal can be constructed simply for handling and manufacturing with a low cost.

Accordingly, the tape pedestal of the present invention consists of a pedestal body, a serrated cutting blade, two supporting walls, a driving wheel, a roller, a hood, and a cyclometer. A visual window is provided on the lower portion of the pedestal body appropriately for observing the indication on the cyclometer which is driven by a gear wheel beside it. The cutting blade is set in the front edge of the pedestal body, and sustained by the two supporting walls at its two sides. A bobbin on which a tape roll is coiled, is engaged with one of the sustaining wall, and the driving wheel with a transmission member, is rotatably sandwiched between the two supporting walls. The transmission member transfers motion of the driving wheel to the cyclometer by gear mechanism so as to actuate the cyclometer. Each of the two supporting walls has a retainer notch to rest a rotating shaft of the roller. The hood is hinged to the rear ends of the supporting walls.

With this structure the cyclometer can function to indicate the length of tape pulled out of the roll and the numeral indication is observed by the user through the visual window so as not to waste the tape excessively, meanwhile, the total length of specified roll of tape can be indicated on the cyclometer after the tape is used up that helps the user check whether or not the actual length of the tape in a roll complies with the nominal value specified by the manufacturer. This will benefit a great deal to those who consume large amount of tape regularly.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

The structure for the adhesive tape pedestal according to the present invention will now be illustrated in conjunction with FIG. 2 through FIG. 4.

A pedestal body 3 has a visual window 31 opened on its bottom at a proper location, and a serrated cutting blade 32 is provided at its front edge thereof. The cutting blade 32 is sustained by two supporting walls 33 and 34 erected at its two sides on the pedestal body 3. A hood 35 is hinged to the rear ends of the two supporting walls 33 and 34. The supporting wall 33 is conjoined to a bobbin 36 which carries a roll of tape 2. A driving wheel 37 associated with a transmission member 371 is rotatably sandwiched between the two supporting walls 33, 34. Besides, two approximately L shaped retainer notches 331 and 341 are formed each on one upper side of the supporting walls 33, 34 respectively. The transmission member 371 may be a gear wheel, a rocking arm, or the like.

A cyclometer 4 is associated with a driving wheel 41 at one side and an indicator 42 beneath it. The driving wheel 41 is in mesh with transmission member 371 for driving the cyclometer 2 to rotate and count the length of the extended tape 2. the cyclometer 4 is equipped under a visual window 31 on the pedestal body 3. the driving wheel 41 may be replaced by a sensor actuated switch or a trigger switch.

A roller 5 has a rotating shaft 51 whose two ends are rotatably rested on the retainer notches 331 and 341. The roller S is in mesh with the driving wheel 37.

The improved structure for adhesive tape pedestal is constructed of the component parts described above.

Please refer to FIGS. 5A and 5b for understanding the operation of the present invention. At first a roll of tape 5 is coiled around the bobbin 36 set on the pedestal body 3 with its tip 21 pulled out passing above the driving wheel 37, and then rests the rotating shaft 51 of the roller 5 on the retainer notches 331 and 341 so that the tip 21 of the tape 2 is sandwiched between the driving wheel 37 and the roller 5. By so the tape 2 can be adhered to an object 6 from its tip 21 by pulling the tape 2. At this moment the motion of the roller 5 is transferred to the cyclometer 4 through the driving wheels 37 and 41 so that the cyclometed 4 is actuated to count the length of stretched tape 2.

Please refer to FIG. 6 for understanding the function of the cyclometer 4, as shown in FIG. 6, the motion of the cyclometer 4 is transmitted from the roller 5 by gear transmission means in which the driving wheel 41 of the cyclometer 4 is in mesh with the transmission wheel (member 371.

In another embodiment illustrating the function of the cyclometer 4 is shown in FIG. 7, as shown in FIG. 7. the driving wheel 41 of the cyclometer 4 is a sensor actuated switch or a trigger switch, while the transmission member 371 is a rocking arm or the like. For instance, one revolution of rocking arm 371 stands for 5 cm, this value is detected by the sensor actuated switch (driving member) 41 of the cyclometer 4 to indicate 5 cm on the indicator.

One more embodiment illustrating the function of the cyclometer 4 is shown in FIG. 8, as shown in FIG. 8, the present invention is made into a table type pedestal 7. The construction is similar to that previously described. The motion of the roller 71 is transmitted to the driving wheel 741 of the cyclometer 74 by gear transmission means with two intermediate gear wheels 711 and 73 so as to indicate the length of the tape 2 on the indicator 742.

With this structure, not only the required length of the tape 2 can be measured accurately from time to time, but also the total length of the tape 2 contained in a particular roll can be known after that roll of tape is used up thereby assisting the user to check up the actual length against the nominal length labeled on the product and protect the right of the consumer against the dishonest maker.

It emerges from the above description that the present invention has several noteworthy advantages compared to any product that is made according to prior arts, namely:

1. Provision of a cyclometer helps the user check the actual length in a roll of tape he/she has purchased with the nominal value labeled on the product so as to protect the right of the consumer against the dishonest maker.

2. Provision of a cyclometer with a visual window makes it possible for the user to observe the cyclometer indication from the visual window the length of tape section being pulled out for use thereby preventing the user from pulling out improper length of the tape.

3. This improved structure for tape pedestal (2) is of a simple structure easy for handling and manufacturing with a low cost.

Many changes and modifications in the above described embodiments of the invention can, of course, be carried out without departing from the scope thereof. Accordingly, to promote the progress in science and the useful arts, the invention is disclosed and is intended to be limited only by the scope of the appended claims.

Claims

1. An adhesive tape pedestal comprising:

a pedestal body, a cyclometer, and a roller,
wherein the cyclometer is installed properly on the pedestal body and has a visual window observable from outside, the cyclometer is associated with a driving member at one side for driving the cyclometer to rotate, a serrated cutting blade is sustained by two supporting walls erected at two sides on the front edge of the pedestal body, one of the supporting wall is conjoined to a bobbin, a driving wheel is rotatably sandwiched between the two supporting walls, the driving wheel has a transmission member engaged to one side thereof to actuate the cyclometer to operate, besides, a retainer notch is formed on the upper end of each supporting wall, the roller has a rotating shaft whose two sides are entrained on the two retainer notches formed on the supporting walls so as to make the roller in mesh with the driving wheel.

2. The tape pedestal of claim 1, wherein the bobbin is for carrying a roll of tape coiled thereon to rotate.

3. The tape pedestal of claim 1, wherein a hood is hinged turnably to the rear ends of the supporting walls.

4. The tape pedestal of claim 1, wherein the transmission member is a gear mechanism or a rocking arm.

5. The tape pedestal of claim 1, wherein the driving member of the cyclometer is a sensor actuated switch or a trigger switch.

6. The tape pedestal of claim 1, wherein the driving member of the driving wheel is attached at a side of the roller and lets the driving wheel of the cyclometer to be in mesh with the transmission wheel of the roller.

7. The tape pedestal of claim 1, wherein the pedestal is a handhold type.

8. the tape pedestal of claim 1, wherein the pedestal is a table stand type.
