Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a securing mechanism for a garbage bag in a garbage can, more particularly one, which can hold a garbage bag in the opened position even when the garbage bag is suspended in a can, and heavy garbage is held in the garbage bag.

2. Brief Description of the Prior Art

Referring to FIG. 1, conventionally, a garbage bag 6 is held in a garbage can 5, and an upper edge portion 61 of the garbage bag 6 is folded so as to cover an upper edge portion 51 of the garbage can 5 such that the garbage bag 6 will be kept in the opened position.

However, the above conventional way to hold a garbage bag in a garbage can has the following disadvantages:

1. If the garbage bag is suspended instead of touching the bottom of the garbage can, and heavy garbage is held in the garbage bag, the garbage bag will fall off the upper edge portion of the garbage can, no longer in the opened position to allow people to throw garbage in.

2. The folded upper edge portion of the garbage bag is outside the garbage can, and in turn the look of the garbage can is spoiled.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is a main object of the invention to provide a securing mechanism for a garbage bag in a garbage can.

The securing mechanism of the invention includes a holding seat, and a loop-shaped member. The holding seat is secured in an upper end portion of a garbage can. The holding seat has a loop shape, an inward loop-shaped protrusion, and a wedge connection portion, which is above the inward loop-shaped protrusion, and which has an inward sloping surface; an upper end portion of the wedge connection portion has a larger internal width than a lower end portion of the wedge connection portion. When the loop-shaped member is fitted in the holding seat, it will closely touch the inward sloping surface of the wedge connection portion.

Therefore, a garbage bag will be secured after it is passed through the loop-shaped member at an upper edge portion, and the upper edge portion of the garbage bag is folded outwards and downwards to cover the loop-shaped member, and the loop-shaped member is tightly fitted in the holding seat. And, when the garbage bag is suspended, and heavy garbage is held in the garbage bag, the loop-shaped member will be moved downwards, and the upper edge portion of the garbage bag will be even more firmly secured.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The present invention will be better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein:

FIG. 1 is a vertical section of the conventional garbage can,

FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view of the garbage can of the present invention,

FIG. 3 is a vertical section of the securing mechanism of a garbage can according to the present invention, and

FIG. 4 is a vertical section of the securing mechanism of the invention being moved to an even tighter position.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Referring to FIG. 2, a preferred embodiment of a securing mechanism for a garbage bag includes a holding seat 2, and a loop-shaped member 3. The securing mechanism is held in an upper end of a garbage can 1.

The holding seat 2 has a middle holding hole 24, several fitting bars 21 on an outward side, a gap 22 on a lower side, an inward loop-shaped protrusion 23 around the middle holding hole 24, and a wedge connection portion 25 around the middle holding hole 24 and above the inward loop-shaped protrusion 23. The wedge connection portion 25 has an inward sloping surface, and an upper end portion of the wedge connection portion 25 has a larger internal width than a lower end portion of the wedge connection portion 25.

The loop-shaped member 3 has an outward sloping surface, a middle hole 32, and an inward loop-shaped protrusion 31 around the hole 32. The loop-shaped member 3 can closely touch the inward sloping surface of the wedge connection portion 25 at the outward sloping surface thereof when fitted in the holding seat 2, as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4; when the loop-shaped member 3 is moved downwards relative to the holding seat 2, the inward loop-shaped protrusion 23 of the holding seat 2 will stop the loop-shaped member 3 to prevent it from falling off the holding seat 2. Therefore, the loop-shaped member 3 will be even more firmly held in the wedge connection portion 25 of the holding seat 2 after it is moved to a lower position.

The garbage can 1 has an internal protrusion 11 on an inner side of an upper end portion thereof, and a propping rod 12 for a lid. The holding seat 2 is secured in the garbage can 1 with the fitting bars 21 thereof being engaged with the internal protrusion 11 of the garbage can 1; the gap 22 of the holding seat 2 holds a portion of the propping rod 12, and in turn the propping rod 12 is free to move.

Referring to FIGS. 3 and 4, a garbage bag 4 is passed through the middle hole 32 of the loop-shaped member 3 at an upper edge portion 41 thereof, and the upper edge portion 41 of the garbage bag 4 is folded outwards and downwards to cover the loop-shaped member 3. Then, the garbage bag 4 and the loop-shaped member 3 are positioned in the garbage can 1 together, and the loop-shaped member 3 tightly fitted in the holding seat 2. Thus, the garbage bag 4 is sandwiched between the loop-shaped member 3 and the wedge connection portion 25 of the holding seat 2 at the upper edge portion 41 thereof. And, if the garbage bag 4 is suspended instead of touching the bottom of the garbage can 1, and heavy garbage is held in the garbage bag 4, the loop-shaped member 3 will move downwards, and the upper edge portion 41 of the garbage bag 4 will be even more firmly sandwiched; in other words, the garbage bag 4 will be held in the opened position, and it can't fall off the securing mechanism accidentally. To separate the loop-shaped member 3 from the holding seat 2, one should press his fingers against the lower side of the loop-shaped protrusion 31 of the loop-shaped member 3, and then exert upward force to lift the loop-shaped member 3.

From the above description, it can be easily understood that the securing mechanism for a garbage bag has advantages as followings:

1. The loop-shaped member will touch the wedge connection portion of the holding seat closely when fitted in the holding seat. And, the loop-shaped member will be even more firmly held in the wedge connection portion when it is moved downwards. Therefore, the upper edge portion of a garbage bag can be firmly sandwiched between the loop-shaped member and the wedge connection portion of the holding seat, and the garbage bag can't separate from the securing mechanism accidentally. And, when the garbage bag is suspended, and heavy garbage is held in the garbage bag, the loop-shaped member will be moved downwards, and the upper edge portion of the garbage bag will be even more firmly sandwiched. In other words, the garbage bag can't fall off the securing mechanism accidentally.

2. Because the holding seat has the inward loop-shaped protrusion under the wedge connection portion, the loop-shaped member can't fall off the holding seat when moving downwards relative to the holding seat.

3. Even after the loop-shaped member is tightly fitted in the holding seat, it can be easily lifted and separated from the holding seat because it has the loop-shaped protrusion for the user to exert force on.

4. The folded upper edge portion of the garbage bag is hidden in the garbage can, therefore the look of the garbage can won't be spoiled by the garbage bag.
