Versatile hunting or animal watching blind

A device for providing cover to a hunter or animal watcher in a tree or on the ground, which allows the user to hunt or view animals without being detected by the animal.

RELATED APPLICATIONS

This application claims priority to Provision application Ser. No. 60/670,876 filed on Apr. 13, 2005.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a device comprising a versatile hunting or animal watching blind. The device provides cover to a hunter or animal watcher in a tree or on the ground, which allows the user to hunt or view animals without being detected by the animal.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

When hunting or observing wildlife persons must remain motionless for long periods of time in order not to scare away the animals. Further they must also be camouflaged. In order to accomplish this, hunters set up hunting blinds on the ground or in trees. The blinds keep the hunters out of view from the animals. The blinds also permit some freedom of movement and protect the hunter in inclement weather.

U.S. Pat. No. 6,588,440 relates to a portable vertically mounting hunting blind which has two plates and straps forming a fastener which is attached to a tree trunk at any desired height by wrapping the straps around the tree trunk and connecting the straps under tension by a connection means which retains the tension. The plates have receptacles for the insertion of a holder, with the holder extending away from the tree trunk. A blind cover is attached to the holder and provides a user with complete camouflage as the user sits within the blind cover.

U.S. Pat. No. 6,553,725 relates to a blind which has at least three upstanding walls, a top cover and a bottom pan where at least one of the walls has an opening for ingress and egress and at least one of the walls has an openable and closable window.

U.S. Pat. No. 6,431,192 relates to a portable hunting blind for retrofitting to a hunter's tree stand which features an arch shaped concealment panels comprising a reconfigurable camouflage material attached via flexible rods to a lightweight support base. At the points of attachment to the support base, elbows permit the concealment panels to be variably inclined so that enclosure size and the width of any openings can be varied.

U.S. Pat. No. 6,243,979 relates to a portable rifle rest for use with a deer stand. A combination hunting blind and shooting or rifle rest are mounted on an elevated tree stand. The hunting blind comprises the rifle rest with a camouflaged partition deployed around the front and the sides. The rifle rest comprises a collapsible frame which includes upright front posts and side horizontal rails attached to a front rail by hinges whose axis are mutually perpendicular.

U.S. Pat. No. 5,918,615 relates to a portable collapsible shelter used as a hunting blind. The shelter includes a plurality of sea shaped frame members and the upper ends of the frame members are connected to an upper connecting plate, while the lower portion of the frame members are connected to a lower connecting plate. A flexible cover is attached to the frame members and provides an enclosure. The cover is provided with an axis slit which extends the full height of the cover and can be closed through a fastener.

U.S. Pat. No. 5,813,160 relates to a portable hunting blind which includes a collapsible frame structure having an upper frame assembly defined by generally u-shaped interconnecting sections and a lower frame assembly defined by generally u-shaped interconnecting sections, the frame assemblies being provided with a continuous track to accommodate movement of travel assemblies therealong.

U.S. Pat. No. 5,647,159 relates to a portable disassemblable blind for water foul hunting. It has a peripherally defined side frame and a slidably openable top both supporting a peripheral covering. One or more head holes are defined in the inner end of the top to allow for hunters to project their heads.

U.S. Pat. No. 5,301,706 relates to a complete self contained portable blind used to conceal a hunter. The portable blind fits into a storage bucket. The storage bucket acts as a base for a swivel chair. The swivel chair has a removable padded t-bar gun rest which is adjustable.

U.S. Pat. No. 4,782,616 relates to a portable blind which includes a chair and pack frame connected together whereby the blind can disassemble and pack with the pack frame to place it where it is to be used. The chair is held in place by a hoop structure. The blind also has an optional gun rest table.

U.S. Pat. No. 4,224,754 relates to a portable hunting blind which incorporates a coil spring which is coiled between two end rings and which elongates to deploy a hollow tube of cloth.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a device for providing cover to a hunter or animal watcher in a tree comprising: a bar stand, a roof, and a fastening element for fastening the bar stand to the tree. It is an object of the present invention for the device to fit over an existing tree stand. It is an object of the present invention for the device to further comprise a shooting rail. It is an object of the present invention for the device to provide the user 360° of viewing and shooting ability.

It is an object of the present invention to protect a user from snow or rain. It is an object of the present invention for the roof to comprise a camoflague fabric which blends in to the surroundings and does not alert an animal to the presence of a hunter.

It is an object of the present invention for the device to provide a complete enclosure. It is an object of the present invention for the device to be made of steel. It is an object of the present invention for the device to be attached to a tree by one support. It is an object of the present invention for the fastening element to be a ratchet strap.

It is an object of the present invention for the roof and shooting rail to be connected to the bar stand by a series of pins. It is an object of the present invention for the covering to be attached to the shooting rail. It is an object of the present invention for the shooting rail to be folded up so only the roof is opened. It is an object of the present invention for the shooting rail to be telescopically folded in to the device. It is an object of the present invention for the device to be folded so that it can be carried like a backpack.

The present invention relates to a device for providing cover to a hunter or animal watcher on the ground comprising: a bar stand, and camoflague material covering the bar stand. The device comprises several bars of metal which are attached together to form a three sided device. It is an object of the present invention for the device to allow a user to hide behind it on the ground to either view or hunt animals.

The present invention relates to a device for providing cover to a hunter or animal watcher in a tree stand comprising: a bar stand, a roof, a fastening element for fastening the bar stand to the tree, and a shooting rail, wherein the device is fully enclosed by a camoflague material.

The present invention relates to a portable gun blind. It is an object of the present invention to lock the portable gun blind onto a tree within a matter of minutes. It is an object of the present invention to provide a roof to protect the user from the elements above him. It is an object of the present invention for the device to provide a complete enclosure to the user.

The present invention comprises a fastening element for fastening the device to a tree. The device further comprises a top element which comprises the roof of the device. The device further comprises a bottom part which makes up the shooting rail. It is an object of the present invention for the bottom part to retain the camoflague material.

It is an object of the present invention for the bottom element to be able to be folded up so only the roof is left over the user. Moving the bottom element up is more preferable for archery. It is an object of the present invention for the bottom part to be telescopically folded in.

It is an object of the present invention to add a device which comprises a roof or covering to a tree stand which already has a shooting rail.

It is an object of the present invention for the device to have a covering for just the bottom of the device.

It is an object of the present invention to have a cover which covers both the top and bottom of the device.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a lock on portable gun blind.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is an illustration of the device being stored on the back of a user.

FIG. 2 is an illustration of the device unfolded.

FIG. 3 is a side view of the device shown attached to a tree.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of the device of the present invention wherein the device 10 is stored as a backpack on a user's back.

FIG. 2 shows an embodiment of the device 100 wherein the top of the device 110 has the camoflague material 120 attached to it. The top of the device 110 is then attached to the bar stand 125. A shooting rail 130 is attached to the bottom of the bar stand 125. Further camoflague material 135 can be attached to the shooting rail 130.

FIG. 3 shows a further embodiment wherein a device 200 is placed on top of an existing tree stand 210. The device 200 is attached to a tree with fastening elements 220. The device comprises a bar stand 230 which has a roof element 240 and a shooting rail 250. The roof element 240 can have a camoflague top 260. The shooting rail 250 can have a camoflague top 270 which then covers the tree stand 210. The roof element 240 and the shooting rail 250 can be pivotally opened and closed by the user as needed.

FIG. 4 shows the pivot element 300 which allows the roof element 240 and the shooting rail 250 to move up and down.

FIGS. 5 and 6 show an embodiment of the present invention being used on the ground. FIG. 5 shows the device 400 covered by camoflague 410. Device 400 is further shown in FIG. 6 without the covering 410. The device 400 comprises several bars of metal which are attached to together in the present embodiment to show a three sided device. The device allows a user to hide behind it on the ground to either view or hunt animals. In an embodiment the camoflague can have openings, not shown, in it to allow a user to view or hunt animals from behind the device 400.

FIG. 7 shows a further embodiment of the present invention. The device 500 is fully enclosed by material, preferably camoflague material 510. The device 500 is attached to a tree by fastening elements 520. The device 500 has a shooting rail 530 and a roof 540.

Claims

1. A device for providing cover to a hunter or animal watcher in a tree comprising:

a bar stand;
a roof;
a fastening element for fastening said bar stand to said tree.

2. The device of claim 1 wherein said device fits over an existing tree stand.

3. The device of claim 1 further comprising a shooting rail.

4. The device of claim 1 wherein said device provides the user 360° of viewing and shooting ability.

5. The device of claim 1 wherein said roof protects a user from snow or rain.

6. The device of claim 1 wherein said roof comprises a camoflague fabric which blends in to surroundings and does not alert an animal to presence of a hunter.

7. The device of claim 1 wherein said device provides a complete enclosure.

8. The device of claim 1 wherein said device is made of steel.

9. The device of claim 1 wherein said device is attached to a tree by one support.

10. The device of claim 1 wherein said fastening element is a ratchet strap.

11. The device of claim 3 wherein said roof and said shooting rail are connected to said bar stand by a series of pins.

12. The device of claim 3 wherein a covering is attached to said shooting rail.

13. The device of claim 3 wherein said shooting rail is folded up so only said roof is opened.

14. The device of claim 3 wherein said shooting rail is telescopically folded in to said device.

15. The device of claim 3 wherein said shooting rail and said roof element are pivotally opened and closed.

16. The device of claim 1 wherein said device is folded so that it can be carried as a backpack.

17. A device for providing cover to a hunter or animal watcher on the ground comprising:

a bar stand;
and camoflague material covering said bar stand.

18. The device of claim 17 wherein said device comprises several bars of metal which are attached together to form a three sided device.

19. The device of claim 17 wherein said camoflague material has openings.

20. A device for providing cover to a hunter or animal watcher in a tree stand comprising:

a bar stand;
a roof;
a fastening element for fastening said bar stand to said tree;
a shooting rail;
said device being fully enclosed by a camoflague material.
