Folder with a stand

A folder with a stand has a body and a stand. The body has a back with outer edges. The stand has two wings and a connector. The wings are connected to the back of the body respectively at the outer edges, and the connector is mounted between the wings. When the folder is used, the stand is held open, supports the body in an inclined position and displays the inclined body. When the folder is stored, the stand is folded and completely attached to the body.

BACKGROUND OF THF INVENTION

1. Field of Invention

The present invention relates to a folder, more particularly to a folder with a stand that can support the folder upright.

2. Description of the Related Art

With reference to FIG. 5, a conventional stand (64) attached to a folder (60), notebook or the like to hold and display data, documents or individual sheets of paper is triangular, is formed from a single sheet of heavy paper, cardboard, plastic or the like and has two vertical supports (641), a base (642) and two edges. One of the vertical supports (641) may be a back cover (63) for the folder (60), notebook or the like or may be attached to the back cover (63) of the folder (60), notebook or the like. The base (642) is folded along a centerline (643) of the base (642) so the stand can be collapsed against the back cover (63). The base (642) is unfolded to extend the other vertical support (641) and form the triangular stand.

However, the conventional stand requires a lot of material that will increase the cost of the stand.

Thus, a real need exists for a folder with a stand that is cheap and does not need much material to be fabricated.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a folder with a stand that is cheap and needs little material to be fabricated.

A folder with a stand in accordance with the present invention a body and a stand. The body has a back and outer edges. The stand attached to the body and has two wings and a connector. The wings are connected to the back of the above body respectively at opposite distal edges, and the connector is mounted between wings.

When the folder is used, the stand is held open, supports the body in an inclined position and displays the inclined body. When the folder is stored, the stand is folded and completely attached to the body.

Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference to FIGS. 1 and 4, a folder with a stand in accordance with the present invention may be an accordion file, notebook, document file, ring binder or spiral binder and has a body (10,10′) and a stand (20).

The body (10, 10′) has a front (11, 11′), a back (12, 12′) and an optional flap (13). The back (12, 12′) has side edges. The flap (13) is integrally formed with the back (12) and may be fastened to the front (11).

The stand (20) is mounted on the back (12) of the body (10) and has two wings (21) and a connector (23, 23′).

Each wing (21) has a proximal edge, a distal edge, a top edge, a bottom edge (211), a folding line (212), at least one through hole (22), an optional bridge (221), an optional top tab (213) and an optional bottom tab (214). The proximal edge of the wing (21) is connected to the back (12) of the body (10) at a side edge. The bottom edge (211) is inclined. The folding line (212) is formed near the proximal edge of the wing (21). The at least one through hole (22) is defined in the wing (21) near the distal edge. In a preferred embodiment, two through holes (22) are defined in each wing (21) and form the bridge (221) between the through holes (22). The top tab (213) is formed on the distal edge at the top edge. The bottom tab (214) is formed on the distal edge at the bottom edge (211).

The connector (23) is mounted between the wings (21) and has a bottom edge, two optional slots (231), an optional band (24), an optional foot (232) and an optional fastener (30). The two slots (231) are defined vertically in the connector (23). The band (24) is mounted through the slots (231) and has two ends and two passive latches (25). The passive latches (25) are formed respectively near opposite ends of the band (24). The foot (232) is integrally formed with the bottom edge of the connector (23′). The fastener (30) is mounted on the foot (232) to hold a front cover or a flap (13) in position.

With further reference to FIGS. 2 and 3, the stand (20) is assembled by inserting the ends of the connector (23) respectively into through holes (22) in opposite wings (21) until the passive latches (25) hook the through holes (22). The top tabs (213) are mounted outside of and press against the connector (23), and the bottom tabs (214) are mounted inside of and press against the connector (23) to hold the body (10) stably. In a preferred embodiment, the ends the band (24) are mounted through two through holes (22) respectively in the wings (21), and the passive latches (25) hook respectively onto the bridge (221) to keep the connector (23) from slipping.

When the folder is used, the stand (20) is pulled away the body (10, 10′), and the top tab (213) extends out and presses against the connector (23). With the expanded stand, the folder can be stably held in a table or the like. Because the bottom edges (211) of each wings (21) are inclined, the folder can be supported and displayed at inclined position. When the folder is stored, the top tab (213) is stored inside the connector (23), and then the stand (20) is pressed to contact with the back of the body (10, 10′) to reduce the volume of the folder.

The advantages of the stand as described follow.

1. The stand (20) holds the body (10) stably in an upright, inclined position, is simple and needs little material.

2. The stand (20) stores with a small volume and consumes very little space.

Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and features of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in the details, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.

Claims

1. A folder with a stand comprising

a body having with a front, and a back with side edges, and
a stand having two wings mounted on the back of the body respectively at the side edges, each wing having a proximal edge connected to the back of the body at a side edge, a distal edge, a top edge, a bottom edge being inclined, a folding line formed near the proximal edge of the wing, and at least one through hole defined in the wing near the distal edge, and
a connector mounted between the wings and a bottom edge.

2. The folder with a stand as claimed in claim 1, wherein

two through holes are defined in each wing and form a bridge between the two through holes.

3. The folder with a stand as claimed in claim 2, wherein the each wing further comprises

a top tab formed on the distal edge at the top edge and mounted outside of and press against the connector, and
a bottom tab formed on the distal edge at the bottom edge and mounted inside of and press against the connector.

4. The folder with a stand as claimed in claim 3, wherein the connector further comprises

two slots defined in the connector, and
a band mounted through the slots and having two ends mounted through the two through holes respectively in the wings, and two passive latches formed respectively near the ends of the band and hook respectively onto the bridge of the wing.

5. The folder with a stand as claimed in claim 1, wherein the connector further comprises

a foot integrally formed with the bottom edge of the connector, and
a fastener mounted on the foot.

6. The folder with a stand as claimed in claim 1, wherein the each wing further comprises

a top tab formed on the distal edge at the top edge and mounted outside of and press against the connector, and
a bottom tab formed on the distal edge at the bottom edge and mounted inside of and press against the connector.

7. The folder with a stand as claimed in claim 1, wherein the connector comprises

two slots defined in the connector, and
a band mounted through the slots and having two ends mounted through the at least one through hole in the wings, and two passive latches formed respectively near the ends of the band and hook onto the wing.
