Coil ball

Abstract

A fun physical therapeutic toy with a belt clip on mechanism, swivel clip mechanism, springy type of retracting coil cord, connected to a spherical ball. The said physical therapy toy has a clip on belt clip, swivel clip device, coil cord and spherical ball construction. The belt clip, and clip on swivel device provides a way to minimize tangling, twisting, and knotting of the retractable coil cord located between the clip on swivel device and the spherical ball.

Description

BACKGROUND

1. The Field of the Invention

The apparatus of the present invention is a fun entertaining catching, throwing, kicking, tossing, toy and massage therapy device. In particular, a toy employing an retracting clip on coil cord, and swivel clip, attached to the said spherical ball, is configured to minimize the retracting coil cord from tangling, knotting or twisting.

2. The Relevant Technology

There are several retracting elastic cord attached to balls and recreational devices exist. But none with the retracting clip on coil cord, and swivel clip, attached to the said spherical ball.

U.S. Pat. No. 3,940,133, teaches an elastic cord attached to a ball using an embedded socket member in one end of the ball.

U.S. Pat. No. 3,843,126 teaches a tethered ball. An elastic band is attached at one end to a ball and on the other end to a flattened portion of a glove covering the palm and the back of the hand.

U.S. Pat. No. 4,836,555 teaches a combination glove and slap ball. A rubber band is attached at one end to a ball and to the other end to a disk anchor removable disposed in the glove.

U.S. Pat. Nos. 2,269,633 and 2,142,068 teach a toy. The toy employs an elastic strand attached at one end to a ball and attached at the other end to a disc or plate. A stirrup

U.S. Pat. No. 5,094,462 teaches a tethered soccer ball. A net is employed to surround the ball and to which an elastic cord is secured.

U.S. Pat. No. 4,147,353 teaches a soccer ball retriever. The retriever includes an anchor stake, a cord and a ball holder. The cord comprises an elastic member and a braided nylon member. The cord is disposed between the ball holder and the anchor. A hook and swivel connect the cord to the anchor stake

U.S. Pat. No. 3,635,476 teaches a pivot able target and ball striking means. The ball striking means comprises a ball which is connected to an elastic strand. The elastic strand is connected to a ring like hand-clasping member.

U.S. Pat. No. 5,083,797 teaches a game ball training apparatus/carrier. The apparatus includes a handle, an inelastic cord and an inelastic ball net. The inelastic cord is fastened at one end to the handle and the other end is looped through the net.

U.S. Pat. No. 3,031,191 teaches a tethered ball game. A rubber band is secured at one end to a ball and is secured at the other end to a handle gripped by the user.

SUMMARY AND OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is directed to a novel retractable toy and massage therapy device and is an complete original design and invention. The ball can be thrown against walls or floors or simply to a distance until the length of the retracting coil cord causes the ball to rebound. One aspect is directed to development of eye-hand coordination. That is, the toy may be preferably thrown or kicked and caught by the left or right hand.

The said coil ball comprises a belt clip on device, connected to a swivel clip attached to a retracting coil cord member and a ball. The retracting coil cord member is attached directly to the ball employing means for minimizing tangling of the retracting coil cord. The comprises a spring loaded clip on device secured about the belt loop, or any part of the user's person.

In one embodiment, the means for attaching the retractable coil cord to the said spherical ball, is accomplished through the center or along a central axis of the ball, but not limited to other means attachment. A preferred structure of the means to avoid or minimize the twisting or knotting of the entire length of the retracting coil cord and ball employs a freely rotating releasable swivel clip connected to the belt clip on device. A novel feature of the present invention is the belt clip connected to the said, freely rotating swivel clip connected to the slit ring, connected to a retracting coil cord, connected to the said spherical ball.

An advantage and object of the present invention over the cited prior art, is the clip on belt clip, the swivel clip connected to the said retracting coil cord, attached to a spherical ball and the fact that it is a bouncing, catching, kicking, recreational toy, with massage, and stress reducing benefits.

In massage and therapeutic operation: the user can lean or roll on or into, the soft firm texture of the spherical ball, with the ball part between the user's back and wall or floor, or most flat surfaces. In another embodiment: the user can roll their feet on the ball portion, and ease stress.

In another embodiment: the user can roll the ball portion on the neck areas to ease stress.

In another embodiment, the user can hold onto the coil cord and lower the ball to the problem area's, then add pressure against the ball to help reduce tension or stress on the upper and lower back, and other parts of the body parts that have tension or stress.

In operation as a toy, the user attaches the clip on device to user's body, clothing or other limb, then the user can kick, throw, or toss, and bounce, the spherical ball, and the force of the said action causes the ball to move, until the extended coil cord is stressed enough to counteract the force of the ball. At that point, the ball springs back so that the user can kick, bounce, catch or throw spherical ball again.

In another embodiment: The said invention works well for stopping children from running after the a ball that has rolled out into the street with moving traffic.

Modifications of this system are also possible. For example, this system may operate properly without the swivel clip, having the coil cord connected directly to the belt clip portion or a strap or band or belt. The clip does not have to be clipped on ones body or person in order to function as a coil ball; retracting coil cord, physical therapy, massage ball, and fun toy.

All such embodiments are intended to be encompassed within the said final claim.

Claims

1.) An apparatus, comprising of:

a spherical ball, having a connection portion thereon;

a clip on belt clip, attached to a freely rotating swivel clip device connected to a retractable coil cord attachment mechanism, which can be attach to a users belt loop, body limb, or clothing, and having a connection part, enabling connection to said limb or body attachment mechanism, said limb or body attachment mechanism formed of a said connection part including a rigid portion;

A first retracting coil cord, coupled between said swivel clip on device connection portion and said spherical ball having an outer surface formed of a flexible material, and including at least one connection knot but not limited to one means of connection, therein which connects the said spherical ball part of said first retracting coil cord to one another, said at least one connection knot, that has been heat treated to blend a smooth surface over the knot. In another embodiment, the retracting coil cord can also be connected by means of; molding plugging, capping, or any means

That apply to connecting the retractable cord to the said spherical ball.

The primary functions of the said invention comprising of, but not limited to; bouncing, kicking, catching hitting, tossing, body massage therapy, entertainment

The Benefits of the said invention comprising of; therapeutic exercise, hand and eye coordination, stress reduction, massaging device and retracting fun toy.

2.) An apparatus as in claim 1, wherein said rigid connection part include a rigid clip on swivel device connected to the said belt clip on device.

3.) An apparatus as in claim 1, wherein said spherical ball includes a small hole or bore extending, there through, said spherical ball, and connected to said retracting coil cord at said connection knot.

4.) An apparatus as in claim 1, wherein said clip on limb or body attachment part has a spring loaded lock made of a ridged material which allows the retractable coil cord to be attached to the user's clothing, body or limbs.

5.) An apparatus as in claim 1, further comprising a swivel clip mechanism, connected between said belt clip attachment part, and said retractable coil cord, and allowing a swiveling motion there between.

6.) An apparatus as in claim 1, wherein said retractable coil cord is connected to the clip on swivel device on the said first attachment portion and a heat treated knot to the said second attachment portion,

7.) An apparatus as in claim 1, wherein said retracting coil cord passes through said second attachment portion.

8.) An apparatus as in claim 1, further comprising at least one knot in the said retractable coil cord, there against the bottom of the said spherical ball.

9.) A toy as in claim 1. A, bouncing, kicking, catching, therapeutic exercise, hand and eye coordination, stress reducing, massage device and retracting fun toy, comprising of:

a spherical ball, having an outer surface formed of a flexible material, and having a first portion with a hole or said bore formed therein, and having inner surfaces formed of a material which can be plugged by the said knot which has no sharp edges thereon.

10.) A toy as in claim 1, further comprising a belt clip on device connected to the said swivel clip device, adapted for attaching to any place on the user's person, body, limbs, or clothing, and including a coil cord attachment part thereon, or threw the said spherical ball part.

11.) A toy as in claim 1, wherein said belt clip part is attached to the said swivel clip device, and the said swivel clip, is attached to the said retractable coil cord-attachment part that connects threw the center of the said spherical ball but not limited to one means of connection to the said spherical ball.
