Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a holder for trash bags, and more particularly relates to a sturdy, light, compact and collapsible holder for trash bags.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Large gatherings of people constantly find problems which deal with large amounts of trash. Unfortunately, when one solely uses trash bags it requires the individual depositing the trash to touch the bag by holding it open which others have already deposited trash in. Other disadvantages include the bag falling over depositing trash all over the ground.

When a party decides to otherwise use trash bags lined within trash cans, they discover the problems of the trash cans being large, bulky, heavy and expensive.

Therefore, a need exists for an apparatus that prevents trash from spilling out in a flimsy trash bag, thereby requiring a person to pick up the trash again and/or an alternative to large, bulky, heavy and expensive trash cans.

In operation, one stores and/or transports the holder in the collapsed state, which does not take consume much space. The user, when desired can open and expand the telescoping legs of the invention and set them on the ground without the optional stakes or into the ground with the optional stakes to further secure the invention.

Once into position, one places a standard trash bag over the top base ring, attaching it to the ring by its bag fastening pins or alternative attachment means. The bottoms of the bags then are allowed to naturally fall to the ground permitting one to deposit their trash in the bag without touching the bag or fear that the trash will spill out onto the ground.

The invention can further be covered with decorative and/or promotional covers.

DESCRIPTION

FIG. 1 is a side view of the invention in a collapsed (FIG. 1a), and extended position (FIG. 1b). The legs which are both telescoping and collapsible are attached to the top base ring with a hinged mechanism. Attached to the top base ring are bag fastening pins.

FIG. 2 shows a top view the present invention. As shown in FIG. 2a the legs are collapsed and swung upwards, while in FIG. 2b, the legs are extended and swung downwards with stakes attached at the bottom of the legs.

FIG. 3 an alternative bag attachment means. The top view (FIG. 3a), the alternate bag attachment means contains a locking ring and handle which covers the base ring. In the side view (FIG. 3b) the base ring is attached to the locking ring by means of a tether.

FIG. 4 shows an optional customizable canvas or plastic cover used with the holder.

In FIG. 5, the invention is shown with optional screw-in stakes attached to the legs that can replace the detachable stakes.

In FIG. 6, the invention is shown with a standard sized trash bag.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

FIG. 1 displays a side view of the invention with legs (11), which are both collapsible (FIG. 1a) and expandable (FIG. 1b) attached to the top base ring (12) by a hinge (14). The legs (11) may secured in the ground by a stake (15) which is attached to the leg (11) by a tether (16). The legs (11) may also be placed on the ground by a foot pad (17). The top base ring (12) possesses bag fastening pins (13) which are used to secure a bag onto the top base ring (12).

FIG. 2 displays a top view of the invention in both the closed (FIG. 2a) and open (FIG. 2b) positions. In FIG. 2a, the legs (11) are displayed in the closed position collapsed and folded at their hinges (14) upon the top base ring (12). FIG. 2b displays a top view of the legs (11) expanded and opened, attached to the top base ring (12) by their hinges (14). The bag fastening pins (13) are attached to the open base ring (12) extending outwardly.

FIG. 3 displays an alternative method of attaching a bag to the invention. This is accomplished by placing a locking ring (18) over the top base ring (12). This locking ring (18) slides over the top base ring (12) which would hold the receptacle bag between the two rings. The locking ring (18) may possess a handle (19) for ease of removing the locking ring (18) from the top base ring (12). The locking ring (18) may also be attached to the top base ring (12) by a tether (20) to help ensure that the locking ring (18) and top base ring (12) stay together.

FIG. 4 displays the invention with an optional cover (21) that may be used for advertisements and promotion as the optional cover (21) would possess pockets (22) for inserting personalized labels or messages.

FIG. 5 shows the invention with optional stakes (23) that may be screwed into the bottom of the legs (11) for use in soft surfaces to better secure the invention to the ground.

FIG. 6 shows the invention both with black trash bags (24) or festive trash bags (25) attached to the top base ring (12) by the bag fastening pins (13).
