An odor control apparatus for drains, which is installed at a drain, for easily discharging sewage and preventing odor from flowing backward. The odor control apparatus for drains is installed at a drain, which has a drain pipe connected to a drain hole formed through an indoor bottom, and a drain upper plate provided with a plurality of through holes and attached to the upper end surface of the drain hole, and includes an odor control body having a flange formed on the upper end thereof and caught by the upper end of the drain pipe; a fixed body including an upper body having a support rim caught by a protrusion formed on the inner surface of the odor control body, and a protruding lower body having a drain hole; and a movable body, ascending and descending based on the amount of sewage.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to an odor control apparatus for drains, and more particularly to an odor control apparatus for drains, which is applied to a drain used in a kitchen or a bathroom so that the drainage state of the drain is flexibly controlled in response to an amount of sewage to be discharged and odor flowing backward from a drain pipe connected to the drain is easily cut off.

2. Description of the Related Art

Sewage generated from a kitchen or a bathroom of a home or a restaurant is discharged to the outside through a drain and flows along a sewer system. Filth contained in the discharged sewage is deposited on the drain or a drain pipe connected to the drain, and as time passes, odor generated due to decay of the filth flows backward to an indoor space through the drain.

In order to prevent the backward flow of the above odor generated, drains having various shapes and constitutions were conventionally developed. Korean Patent Application No. 10-2001-77150 discloses a drain in which a floating ball is disposed in a main body having a concave lower portion.

When water does not flow from the upside to the above drain, the floating ball closes the lower portion of the inside of the main body, thus completely excluding odor flowing from a region under the main body. When water flows from the upside to the drain, the floating ball ascends due to buoyancy and opens the lower portion of the inside of the main body, thus allowing the water to be discharged downward.

The conventional floating ball fully closes the lower portion of the inside of the main body, thus completely excluding odor flowing from the region under the main body. However, when water flows from the upside to the main body, a steam of the water at a contact portion between the circumferential surface of the floating ball and the inner surface of the main body is fast and a pressure at the contact portion is rapidly lowered. Then, the floating ball does not ascend due to buoyancy, but contacts the inner surface of the main body, thus obstructing the discharge of filth.

Another conventional drain for preventing the backward flow of odor has a structure, in which an opening and closing plate opens and closes the lower portion of a main body. The center of gravity of the opening and closing plate is located at the rear portion of the plate such that when water fills the main body, the opening and closing plate is opened due to the weight of the water, and when the water is discharged to a region under the main body, and the opening and closing plate is restored to its original state, thus allowing the opening and closing plate to close the inside of the main body.

The above conventional drain has a simple structure. However, since the opening and closing plate has a size similar to that of the lower portion of the main body in order to smoothly discharge the water, when foreign substances are caught into the center of rotation of the opening and closing plate, the foreign substances obstruct the rotation of the opening and closing plate and the opening and closing plate cannot be properly closed. Thereby, a large gap is formed between the opening and closing plate and the lower portion of the main body, and a large amount of odor flows to an indoor space through the gap.

In case that an opening and closing plate having a small size opens and closes the lower portion of the main body, the amount of odor flowing to the indoor space is reduced. However, in this case, when the amount of filth discharged to the outside is increased, the filth cannot be rapidly discharged to the outside.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide an odor control apparatus for drains, which is installed at a drain provided in a kitchen or a bathroom so that the drainage state of the drain is flexibly controlled in response to an amount of sewage to be discharged through the drain and odor flowing backward from a drain pipe connected to the drain is cut off, thus maintaining the comfortable state of an indoor space.

In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, the above and other objects can be accomplished by the provision of an odor control apparatus for drains, installed at a drain, which has a drain pipe connected to a drain hole formed through an indoor bottom, and a drain upper plate provided with a plurality of through holes and attached to the upper end surface of the drain hole, the odor control apparatus comprising an odor control body having a flange formed on the upper end thereof and caught by the upper end of the drain pipe; a fixed body comprising an upper body having a support rim caught by a protrusion formed on the inner surface of the odor control body, and a protruding lower body having a drain hole, a diameter of which is extended downwardly from the central portion of the upper body; and a movable body supported by the fixed body with elastic members, ascending and descending based on the amount of sewage to determine the drainage state of the drain, and preventing the backward flow of odor in cooperation with the fixed body, the movable body comprising a support rim formed on the outer surface of the movable body for causing the movable body to be supported by the upper portion of the fixed body with the elastic members; a drain pipe protruding downwardly from the central portion of the movable body for discharging sewage therethrough; a large drain outlet having the same shape as that of the lower body, connected to the drain hole of the lower body, and formed through the lower end of the drain pipe; a plurality of drain slits formed through a wall of the large drain outlet for rapidly discharging a large amount of sewage therethrough; and a small drain outlet formed through a bottom of the large drain outlet for discharging a small amount of sewage therethrough.

In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, there is provided an odor control apparatus for drains, installed at a drain, which has a drain pipe connected to a drain hole formed through an indoor bottom, and a drain upper plate provided with a plurality of through holes and attached to the upper end surface of the drain hole, the odor control apparatus comprising a fixed body located at the upper end of the drain pipe, and comprising a drain surface sloping downward for rapidly discharging sewage and a drain hole having a diameter, which gradually extends, and formed through the lower portion of the drain surface; and a movable body having a small drain outlet, located under the fixed body, connected to the fixed body with a connecting unit, and descending when the sewage is discharged, the movable body comprising an airtight surface formed on a support rim formed on the outer surface of the movable body and having the same shape as that of the drain hole so that the airtight surface is connected to the drain hole so as to maintain an airtight state therebetween; and a collecting space formed in the central portion of the movable body for collecting the sewage to be discharged.

In accordance with yet another aspect of the present invention, there is provided an odor control apparatus for drains, installed at a drain, which has a drain pipe connected to a drain hole formed through an indoor bottom, and a drain upper plate provided with a plurality of through holes and attached to the upper end surface of the drain hole, the odor control apparatus comprising a fixed body having a pipe shape, and including a support rim formed at the upper end of the fixed body and caught by the upper end of the drain pipe, and a drain hole formed through the lower portion of the fixed body and having a gradually reducing diameter; a movable body having a small drain outlet, located under the fixed body, connected to the fixed body with a connecting unit, and descending when sewage is discharged, the movable body comprising a collecting space formed in the movable body for temporarily collecting sewage; and upper and lower level surfaces, an upper sloping side surface sloping upward, and a lower sloping side surface sloping downward, the surfaces forming the movable body in a buoy shape, wherein the lower portion of the upper sloping side surface is connected to the drain hole of the fixed body so as to maintain an airtight state therebetween, and a plurality of discharge holes for discharging the sewage to the small drain outlet are formed through the upper sloping side surface.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Now, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the annexed drawings.

FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of an odor control apparatus for drains in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 2 is a sectional view of the odor control apparatus for drains in an assembled state in accordance with the first embodiment of the present invention, FIGS. 3A and 3B are sectional views of odor control apparatuses for drain in accordance with modifications of the first embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 4 is a sectional view of the odor control apparatus for drains of the present invention in a used state when a small amount of sewage is discharged, and FIG. 5 is a sectional view of the odor control apparatus for drains of the present invention in the used state when a large amount of sewage is discharged.

An odor control apparatus 100 for drain in accordance with the first embodiment of the present invention is installed at a drain 105. The drain 105 includes a drain pipe 102 connected to a drain hole 101 formed through a sink of a kitchen or a bottom of a bathroom, and a drain upper plate 104 provided with a plurality of through holes 103 and attached to the upper end surface of the drain hole 101.

The odor control apparatus 100 comprises an odor control body 110 inserted into the drain pipe 102, a fixed body 111 installed in the odor control body 110, and a movable body 113 supported by the fixed body 11 with elastic members 112, ascending and descending based on the amount of sewage to determine the drainage state of the drain 105, and preventing the backward flow of odor in cooperation with the fixed body 111.

A flange, which is caught by the upper end of the drain pipe 102, is formed on the upper end of the odor control body 110, and a protrusion 114, on which the fixed body 111 is seated, is formed on the inner circumferential surface of the odor control body 110.

The fixed body 111 includes a dish-shaped upper body 116 having a support rim 115 caught by the protrusion 114, and a protruding lower body 118 having a drain hole 117, a diameter of which is extended downwardly from the central portion of the upper body 116.

The movable body 113 includes a support rim 119 formed on the outer surface of the movable body 113 for causing the movable body 113 to be supported by the upper portion of the fixed body 111 with the elastic members 112, and a drain pipe 120 protruding downwardly from the central portion of the movable body 113 for discharging sewage therethrough.

A large drain outlet 121, which has the same shape as that of the lower body 118 and is connected to the inner surface of the drain hole 117 of the lower body 118, is formed through the lower end of the drain pipe 120.

A plurality of drain slits 123 for rapidly discharging a large amount of sewage are formed through a wall 122 of the large drain outlet 121, and a small drain outlet 125 for discharging a small amount of sewage is formed through a bottom 124 of the large drain outlet 121.

The elastic members 112 are interposed between the support rims 116 and 119 formed on the fixed body 111 and the movable body 113. The elastic members 112 always raise the movable body 113 so that the lower body 118 is connected to the large drain outlet 121, thus preventing the backward flow of odor.

The elastic members 112 may have various shapes, i.e., a bellows pipe made of a synthetic resin or a coiled elastic body, such as a spring.

The small drain outlet 125 is provided with a small drain pipe 126 protruding downwardly from the bottom 124 of the large drain outlet 121, and the small drain pipe 126 is provided with an intercepting unit 127 for intercepting odor, which flows backward from the drain pipe 102.

The intercepting unit 127 includes an intercepting plate 129, which is connected to a designated portion of the outer circumferential surface of the small drain pipe 126 with a hinge 128 and has a size enough to cover the lower end surface of the small drain pipe 126. A weight body 130 provided at the outside of the hinge 128 serves to maintain the closed state of the intercepting plate 129.

The large drain outlet 121 formed through the movable body 113 has an inner space, which can temporarily store sewage. Preferably, the storage space has a volume larger than the total volume of the drain slits 123 formed through the large drain outlet 121. Further, the elastic members 112 have enough elasticity to support the sewage filling the large drain outlet 121.

Preferably, an interval between the fixed body 111 and the movable body 113 has a value enough to completely expose the drain slits 123 formed through the large drain outlet 121 when the movable body 113 descends.

Further, preferably, although not shown in the drawings, an airtight material, such as a packing, for preventing odor, which flows backward from the drain pipe 102, from leaking may be interposed between the drain pipe 102 and the odor control body 110, between the odor control body 110 and the fixed body 111, between the lower body 118 and the large drain outlet 121, and the small drain outlet 126 and the intercepting plate 129, thus maintaining a sufficient airtight state therebetween.

The number and the size of the small drain outlet 126 may be regulated in consideration of the quantity of sewage, which is discharged in a small amount. In case that the small drain outlet 126 uses a bending drain pipe, such as an N-shaped drain pipe 131, a regular amount of sewage always remains in the drain pipe 131, and prevents the backward flow of odor. Accordingly, in this case, the small drain outlet 126 does not require the intercepting plate 129.

In an initial state of the above odor control apparatus 100 of the present invention, into which sewage does not flow, the movable body 113 is raised by the elastic force of the elastic members 112, and thus the large drain outlet 121 is closely connected to the drain hole 117 of the lower body 118.

Even if odor is generated from the drain pipe 102 under the drain 105 under the above state, the odor cannot flow into a region on the drain 105. Accordingly, the odor control apparatus 100 can prevent the backward flow of odor, thus maintaining the comfortable state of an indoor space.

Then, when sewage is generated, the sewage flows into the drain 105 through the drain upper plate 104, and then flows into the movable body 113. Thereafter, the sewage flows into the drain pipe 120 of the movable body 113, and is discharged to the drain pipe 102 through the large drain outlet 121 or the small drain outlet 125.

When the amount of sewage is small, the sewage flows into the drain pipe 120 and is collected in the large drain outlet 121. Since the amount of the sewage cannot fully fill the volume of the large drain outlet 121, the sewage is discharged through the small drain outlet 125 formed through the bottom 124 of the large drain outlet 121.

That is, the sewage flows into the drain pipe 120 and is collected in the small drain outlet 125, and simultaneously the sewage contacts the intercepting plate 129 closing the lower end of the small drain pipe 126. At this time, the weight of the sewage is heavier than that of the weight body 130 provided at the rear of the hinge 128 maintaining the intercepting plate 129, and thus the intercepting plate 129 descends and opens the lower end of the small drain pipe 126, thereby allowing the sewage to be discharged to the outside through the small drain outlet 125.

After the discharge of the sewage is completed, the load tends downward due to the weight body 130, and the intercepting plate 129, which is relatively lighter than the weight body 130, ascends and contacts the lower end surface of the small drain pipe 126, thus being converted into an odor intercepting state.

When the amount of sewage is large, the sewage continuously fills the upper portion of the movable body 113 as well as the large drain outlet 12. Then, the small drain outlet 125 formed through the bottom 124 of the large drain outlet 121 is opened, and simultaneously the movable body 113 descends against the elastic force of the elastic members 112 raising the movable body 113.

The movable body 113 descends, and the large drain outlet 121, which was connected to the drain hole 117 of the lower body 118 of the fixed body 111, moves downward. Then, the drain hole 117 and the drain slits 123 are exposed, thus allowing a large amount of sewage to be rapidly discharged through the drain hole 117 and the drain slits 123.

After the large amount of sewage is discharged, the movable body 113 ascends above the fixed body 111 by means of the elastic restoring force of the elastic members 112, and the large drain outlet 121 is connected to the drain hole 117 of the lower body 118, thus blocking the inflow route of odor.

In case that the small drain outlet 126 uses the N-shaped drain pipe 131, after sewage is discharged through the drain pipe 131, a portion of the sewage remains in the bending part of the drain pipe 131 and clogs the drain pipe 131. Thus, the remainder of the sewage in the drain pipe 131 prevents odor from flowing backward.

FIG. 6 is an exploded perspective view of an odor control apparatus for drains in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 7 is a sectional view of the odor control apparatus for drains in an assembled state in accordance with the second embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 8 is a sectional view of the odor control apparatus for drains in accordance with the second embodiment of the present invention in a used state when a small amount of sewage is discharged, FIG. 9 is a sectional view of the odor control apparatus for drains in accordance with the second embodiment of the present invention in the used state when a large amount of sewage is discharged, and FIG. 10 is a sectional view of an odor control apparatus for drains in accordance with a modification of the second embodiment of the present invention.

An odor control apparatus 100 for drain in accordance with the second embodiment of the present invention comprises a fixed body 111, which is located at the upper end of a drain pipe 102, and a movable body 113, which has a small drain outlet 125 and is located under the fixed body 111. The movable body 113 is connected to the fixed body 111 with a connecting unit 150, and descends when sewage is discharged.

The fixed body 111 includes a support rim 115, which is laid on a seating groove 151 formed in the upper end of the drain pipe 102, a drain surface 152, which slopes downward so as to rapidly discharge sewage, and a drain hole 153 having a diameter, which gradually extends, and formed through the lower portion of the drain surface 152.

The movable body 113 includes an airtight surface 154, which is formed on a support rim 119 formed on the outer surface of the movable body 113 and has the same shape as that of the drain hole 153 so that the airtight surface 154 is connected to the drain hole 153 so as to maintain an airtight state therebetween, and a collecting space 155, which is formed in the central portion of the movable body 113 so as to collect sewage to be discharged.

The connecting unit 150 includes an operating rod 156 protruding upwardly from the center of the collecting space 155 of the movable body 113, and a cylinder 157 integrally formed with the center of a drain upper plate 104 located on the fixed body 111. The operating rod 156 is inserted into the cylinder 157.

A stopper 158 is fixed to the upper end of the operating rod 156, and a cap 159 is put on the stopper 158 so as to prevent the stopper 158 from being separated from the operating rod 156. A spring 161 is interposed between the stopper 158 and a protrusion 160 formed on the inner surface of the lower end of the cylinder 157, thus causing the movable body 113 to be connected to the fixed body 111 at all times.

A discharge groove 162 for discharging sewage from the collecting space 155 to the small drain outlet 125 is formed in the lower portion of the operating rod 156.

Hereinafter, the operation of the odor control apparatus 100 of the second embodiment of the present invention will be described.

When sewage flows into the collecting space 155 of the movable body 113 through the fixed body 111, the intercepting plate 129, which closed the small drain pipe 126 of the small drain outlet 125 formed under the collecting space 155 integrally with movable body 113, is opened to discharge the sewage. After the discharge of the sewage is completed, the intercepting plate 129 is returned to its initial state by the weight of the weight body 130, thus blocking the inflow of odor.

When the amount of sewage to be discharged is large, the sewage fills the fixed body 111 as well as the collecting space 155 formed in the movable body 113, and overcomes the force of the spring 161 of the connecting unit 150. Then, the movable body 113 descends, and the drain hole 153 of the fixed body 111 is separated from the airtight surface 154 of the movable body 113. Thereby, a large amount of sewage is rapidly discharged through a gap between the drain hole 153 and the airtight surface 154.

When the amount of sewage is increased as described above, the spring 161 interposed between the cylinder 157 and the operating rod 156 for raising the operating rod 156 is constricted and the movable body 113 descends, and after the discharge of the sewage is completed, the movable body 113 ascends due to the restoring force of the spring 161.

Then, the connection between the airtight surface 154 of the movable body 113 and the drain hole 153 of the fixed body 111 prevents odor from flowing backward through the drain pipe 102.

In an odor control apparatus in accordance with the modification of the second embodiment, the fixed body 111 is supported by an odor control body 110, which is connected to the upper end of the drain pipe 102 and has a plurality of drain slits 170 formed through the lower end and the side surface thereof.

A bottom 171 of the collecting space 155 of the movable body 113 connected to the lower portion of the fixed body 111 slopes in one direction, and the small drain outlet 125 for discharging a small amount of sewage collected in the collecting space 155 is formed through a portion of a wall 172 of the collecting space 155, at which the bottom 171 is low.

FIG. 11 is a sectional view of an odor control apparatus for drains in accordance with a third embodiment of the present invention, FIGS. 12A, 12B, 12C, and 12D are sectional views of odor control apparatuses for drain in accordance with modifications of the third embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 13 is a sectional view of the odor control apparatus for drains in accordance with the third embodiment of the present invention in a used state when a small amount of sewage is discharged, and FIG. 14 is a sectional view of the odor control apparatus for drains in accordance with the third embodiment of the present invention in the used state when a large amount of sewage is discharged.

An odor control apparatus 100 for drain in accordance with the third embodiment of the present invention comprises a fixed body 111, which is located at the upper end of a drain pipe 102, and a movable body 113, which has a small drain outlet 125 and is located under the fixed body 111. The movable body 113 is connected to the fixed body 111 with a connecting unit 200, and descends when sewage is discharged. The fixed body 111, the movable body 113, and the connecting unit 200 of the odor control apparatus of the third embodiment have constitutions different from those of the odor control apparatus of the second embodiment.

The fixed body 111 has a pipe shape, and includes a support rim 201, which is formed at the upper end of the fixed body 111 and is caught by the upper end of the drain pipe 102, and a drain hole 202, which is formed through the lower portion of the fixed body 111 and has a gradually reducing diameter.

The movable body 113 has a buoy shape. That is, the movable body 113 has a collecting space 203 for temporarily collecting sewage, upper and lower level surfaces 204, an upper sloping side surface 205, which slopes upward, and a lower sloping side surface 206, which slopes downward.

The lower portion of the upper sloping side surface 205 is connected to the drain hole 202 of the fixed body 111 so that an airtight state therebetween is maintained. A plurality of discharge holes 207 for discharging sewage to the small drain outlet 125 are formed through the upper sloping side surface 205. The discharge holes 207 are located above a position of the upper sloping side surface 205 connected to the drain hole 202 so as not to hinder the maintenance of the airtight state.

The connecting unit 200 includes a guide bar 210, which is located on the center of a drain upper plate 104 laid on the fixed body 111, extends downward, and passes through a guide hole 211 formed through the center of the movable body 113 so that the lower portion of the guide bar 210 protrudes downwardly from the lower surface of the movable body 113.

An elastic body 213 is interposed between a stopper 212 provided on the lower end of the guide bar 210 and the bottom surface of the movable body 113. The elastic body 213 is always maintained in an expanding state, and raises the movable body 113, thus allowing the movable body 113 to be connected to the fixed body 111.

A flexible tube made of a synthetic resin having elasticity is used as the elastic body 213. In order to facilitate the easy compression of the elastic body 213 when the movable body 113 descends by means of the pressure of the discharged sewage, vent holes 214 may be formed through the upper and lower portions of the elastic body 213, or in order to facilitate the rapid restoration of the elastic body 213 after compression, a spring 215 may be installed in the elastic body 213.

The fixation of the guide bar 210 may be accomplished by various methods. For example, a screw 216 is formed on the lower end of the guide bar 210 and a nut 217 is fixed to the screw 216, or a screw hole 218 is formed through the upper end of the guide bar 210 and a bolt 219 connected to the center of the drain upper plate 104 is inserted into the screw hole 218.

Hereinafter, the operation of the odor control apparatus 100 of the third embodiment of the present invention will be described.

When the amount of sewage to be discharged is small, the sewage flows into the fixed body 111 through the drain upper plate 104, and is collected in the collecting space 203 of the movable body 113 through the discharge holes 207 formed through the upper sloping side surface 205 of the movable body 113 connected to the drain hole 202 of the fixed body 111.

The pressure of the collected sewage overcomes the intercepting force of the intercepting plate 129 of the small drain outlet 125, thus causing the small drain outlet 125 to be opened. Thereby, the sewage is discharged to the drain pipe 102. After the discharge of the sewage is completed, the small drain outlet 125 is closed, thus preventing the backward flow of odor.

When the amount of sewage to be discharged is large, the sewage fills the fixed body 111 as well as the collecting space 203 of the movable body 113, and overcomes the force of the connecting unit 200 raising the movable body 113. Then, the elastic body 213 installed at the lower portion of the guide bar 210 passing through the center of the movable body 113 is compressed, and the movable body 113 descends.

Then, a large amount of sewage is discharged through the drain hole 202 of the fixed body 111, and a portion of the sewage collected in the collecting space 203 of the movable body 111 is discharged through the small drain outlet 125.

Since the vent holes 214 are formed through the elastic body 213, when the movable body 113 descends as described above, the movable body 113 can easily descend. After the discharge of the sewage is completed, the movable body 113 can easily ascend using the spring 215 installed in the elastic body 213.

The upper sloping side surface 205 of the ascent movable body 113 is connected to the drain hole 202 of the fixed body 11, thus preventing the backward flow of odor from the drain pipe 102.

As apparent from the above description, the present invention provides an odor control apparatus for drains, installed at a drain, in which a movable body selectively ascends and descends in response to an amount of sewage to be discharged so as to easily discharge the sewage, and, after the sewage is completely discharged, the close contact between discharge portions prevents odor from flowing backward from a drain pipe, thus maintaining the comfortable state of an indoor space.

Although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been disclosed for illustrative purposes, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions and substitutions are possible, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as disclosed in the accompanying claims.

Claims

1. An odor control apparatus for drains, installed at a drain, which has a drain pipe connected to a drain hole formed through an indoor bottom, and a drain upper plate provided with a plurality of through holes and attached to the upper end surface of the drain hole, said odor control apparatus comprising:

an odor control body having a flange formed on the upper end thereof and caught by the upper end of the drain pipe;
a fixed body comprising an upper body having a support rim caught by a protrusion formed on the inner surface of the odor control body, and a protruding lower body having a drain hole, a diameter of which is extended downwardly from the central portion of the upper body; and
a movable body supported by the fixed body with elastic members, ascending and descending based on the amount of sewage to determine the drainage state of the drain, and preventing the backward flow of odor in cooperation with the fixed body, said movable body comprising: a support rim formed on the outer surface of the movable body for causing the movable body to be supported by the upper portion of the fixed body with the elastic members; a drain pipe protruding downwardly from the central portion of the movable body for discharging sewage therethrough; a large drain outlet having the same shape as that of the lower body, connected to the drain hole of the lower body, and formed through the lower end of the drain pipe; a plurality of drain slits formed through a wall of the large drain outlet for rapidly discharging a large amount of sewage therethrough; and a small drain outlet formed through a bottom of the large drain outlet for discharging a small amount of sewage therethrough.

An odor control apparatus for drains, installed at a drain, which has a drain pipe connected to a drain hole formed through an indoor bottom, and a drain upper plate provided with a plurality of through holes and attached to the upper end surface of the drain hole, said odor control apparatus comprising:

a fixed body located at the upper end of the drain pipe, and comprising a drain surface sloping downward for rapidly discharging sewage and a drain hole having a diameter, which gradually extends, and formed through the lower portion of the drain surface; and
a movable body having a small drain outlet, located under the fixed body, connected to the fixed body with a connecting unit, and descending when the sewage is discharged, said movable body comprising: an airtight surface formed on a support rim formed on the outer surface of the movable body and having the same shape as that of the drain hole so that the airtight surface is connected to the drain hole so as to maintain an airtight state therebetween; and a collecting space formed in the central portion of the movable body for collecting the sewage to be discharged.

An odor control apparatus for drains, installed at a drain, which has a drain pipe connected to a drain hole formed through an indoor bottom, and a drain upper plate provided with a plurality of through holes and attached to the upper end surface of the drain hole, said odor control apparatus comprising:

a fixed body having a pipe shape, and including a support rim formed at the upper end of the fixed body and caught by the upper end of the drain pipe, and a drain hole formed through the lower portion of the fixed body and having a gradually reducing diameter;
a movable body having a small drain outlet, located under the fixed body, connected to the fixed body with a connecting unit, and descending when sewage is discharged, said movable body comprising:
a collecting space formed in the movable body for temporarily collecting sewage; and
upper and lower level surfaces, an upper sloping side surface sloping upward, and a lower sloping side surface sloping downward, said surfaces forming the movable body in a buoy shape,
wherein the lower portion of the upper sloping side surface is connected to the drain hole of the fixed body so as to maintain an airtight state therebetween, and a plurality of discharge holes for discharging the sewage to the small drain outlet are formed through the upper sloping side surface.

4. The odor control apparatus as set forth in claim 1, wherein the small drain outlet comprises:

a small drain pipe protruding downwardly from the bottom of the large drain outlet; and
an intercepting unit provided in the small drain pipe for intercepting odor, which flows backward from the drain pipe, said intercepting unit comprising: an intercepting plate connected to a designated portion of the outer circumferential surface of the small drain pipe with a hinge and covering the lower end surface of the small drain pipe; and a weight body provided at the outside of the hinge and serving to maintain the closed state of the intercepting plate.

5. The odor control apparatus as set forth in claim 1, wherein the small drain outlet is an N-shaped drain pipe.

6. The odor control apparatus as set forth in claim 2, wherein the connecting unit comprises:

an operating rod protruding upwardly from the center of the collecting space of the movable body;
a cylinder formed under the center of a drain upper plate located on the fixed body for containing the operating rod;
a stopper fixed to the upper end of the operating rod and covered with a cap so as to prevent the stopper from being separated from the operating rod; and
a spring interposed between the stopper and a protrusion formed on the inner surface of the lower end of the cylinder for ascending the movable body,
wherein a discharge groove for discharging the sewage from the collecting space to the small drain outlet is formed in the lower portion of the operating rod.

7. The odor control apparatus as set forth in claim 2, wherein:

the fixed body is supported by an odor control body, which is connected to the upper end of the drain pipe and has a plurality of drain slits formed through the lower end and the side surface thereof;
a bottom of the collecting space of the movable body slopes in one direction; and
the small drain outlet is formed through a portion of a wall of the collecting space, at which the bottom is low.

8. The odor control apparatus as set forth in claim 3, wherein the connecting unit comprises:

a guide bar located under the center of a drain upper plate laid on the fixed body, extending downward, and passing through a guide hole formed through the center of the movable body; and
an elastic body interposed between a stopper provided on the lower end of the guide bar and the bottom surface of the movable body for ascending the movable body in a normal state.
