Nail polish bottle pocket holder

Abstract

A nail polish pocket which eliminates the need to grasp or hold the bottle of nail polish, base coat or top coat with one's hand, the nail polish pocket having an elastic material which wraps about the palm and back of the hand and secures with a D-ring, hook and loop fastener, or other adjustable fitting device, there being strategically located on the elastic material, a pocket having a side wall and cradling a bottom wall for receipt of a nail polish, base coat or top coat bottle, which nail bottle can be maintained in the correct orientation by manipulation of the hand allowing the user to insert and remove the brush to obtain a portion of polish base coat or top coat for application to the toenails or fingernails.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a palm wrap which contains a repository for receipt of a nail polish base coat, polish, and/or top coat bottle to allow an individual to polish fingernails or toenails. This is particularly helpful for an individual with carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, tendonitis, or other motor skill difficulties, to relieve one hand of the stress of holding a polish bottle while polishing with the other hand while performing a manicure or a pedicure.

2. Description of the Prior Art

Typically, a professional manicurist or pedicurist, or an individual performing a manicure or pedicure at home, would have to grip the nail polish bottle or base coat or top coat bottle in one hand, while utilizing the lid and brush member of the bottle to apply the polish or a protective or base layer. An individual suffering with carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, tendonitis, or other motor skill difficulties would find it difficult to grip the bottle since typically, bottles of fingernail or toenail polish are relatively small, and in some instances, are irregularly shaped.

The problem is more manifest with professional manicurists or pedicurists who perform this service on a variety of people daily in salons and nail parlors.

There has therefore been a need for a solution to this problem which would allow an individual suffering from one of the aforesaid maladies to manipulate the nail polish, base coat or top coat bottle in a facile fashion while applying the fingernail or toenail polish or base coat or top coat.

The problem has been addressed in certain prior art references, namely U.S. Pat. No. 5,567,070 to Ficcadenti, U.S. Pat. No. 5,664,711 to Mellon, and U.S. Pat. No. 5,881,734 to Trayes.

While the aforesaid prior art references identify the problem, they each offer their own separate solution which Applicant believes differs from the solution proposed and set forth herein by Applicant.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

An object of the present invention is to provide for a novel support for a nail polish top coat, polish, or base coat bottle for supporting the bottle while polishing nails or applying a top coat or base coat.

Another object of the present invention is to provide for a novel nail polish, base coat or top coat bottle holder for enabling a person with carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, tendonitis, or other motor skill difficulties to manipulate the bottle of polish for application to the nails.

Still another object of the present invention is to provide for a novel nail polish, base coat or top coat bottle holder which maintains the bottle in a proper orientation to avoid spills while utilizing the bottle for application of polish, base coat or top coat to the nails.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A nail polish pocket which eliminates the need to grasp or hold the bottle of nail polish, base coat or top coat with one's hand, the nail polish pocket having an elastic material which wraps about the palm and back of the hand and secures with a D-ring, hook and loop fastener, or other adjustable fitting device, there being strategically located on the elastic material, a pocket having a side wall and cradling a bottom wall for receipt of a nail polish, base coat or top coat bottle, which nail bottle can be maintained in the correct orientation by manipulation of the hand allowing the user to insert and remove the brush to obtain a portion of polish base coat or top coat for application to the toenails or fingernails.

FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the nail polish pocket secured to the hand of an individual and utilized in the application of fingernail polish to a separate hand.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the nail polish bottle pocket holder 10 of the present invention. Nail polish bottle pocket holder 10 comprises an elastic strap 12 which is of sufficient length to encircle the palm of the hand and the back of the hand at a point proximate where the thumb of the hand joins the hand. Elastic strap 12 has a D-ring 14 secured a first end 16 and a hook and loop fastener means 18 secured at the opposing second end 20. In operation, elastic strap 14 is stretched about the hand with second end 20 having secured thereto the hook and loop fastener means 18 being looped through the D-ring 14 and double back on itself such as to cause the hook and loop fasteners 18 to engage and thus secure the elastic strap 12 about the hand.

Secured at an approximate midpoint of elastic strap 12 is a pocket holder 24 which consists of a flexible circumferential side wall 26 and a bottom wall 28. The bottom wall 28 may consist of two thin elastic straps which criss-cross to form the bottom wall 28 of the pocket. Pocket holder 24 is designed to receive a bottle of either nail polish, top coat, or bottom coat 30 as illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3. The circumferential side wall 26 of pocket holder 24 may further be resilient or elasticized to aid in the securing of the nail polish, top coat or bottom coat bottle within the pocket holder 24.

Still further, pocket holder 24 may have an elastic loop 32 which would be slidably receivable over the neck 34 of the nail polish, bottom coat or top coat bottle 30 to further insure its secure location within the pocket holder 24. Additionally, pocket holder 24 may be formed with a grab strap 33 which assists in the orientation of pocket holder 24 when inserting nail polish bottle 30.

FIG. 2 is a perspective view illustrating the nail polish bottle pocket holder 10 secured about the hand 40 of an individual. The first end 16 have the secured D-ring 14, and the second end 20 having the hook and loop fastener means 18 are secured and cannot be seen in FIG. 2 in that they are abutting the rear surface of the hand. In such configuration the pocket holder 24 is positioned adjacent the palm 42 of the hand 40 with the open upper portion 31 of nail polish bottle pocket holder 10 facing upwardly towards the thumb 44 for the slidable receipt of the nail polish, top coat or bottom coat bottle 30 within the pocket holder 24. Elastic loop 32 is secured about the neck 34 of the bottle 30 for further security.

It can be seen in this configuration that the nail polish top coat or bottom coat bottle 30 is firmly secured within the pocket holder 24 adjacent the palm 42 of the manicurist, pedicurist, or user. This leaves the fingers 50 on the left hand free to manipulate the fingers or toes of the individual receiving the manicure or pedicure.

FIG. 3 is a perspective view illustrating the use of the nail polish bottle pocket holder 10 by a manicurist. The nail polish bottle pocket holder 10 is secured about the left hand as previously described, allowing the fingers 50 of the left hand free to manipulate the fingers of the individual receiving the manicure. The manicurist's right hand is free to manipulate the lid and brush of the nail polish bottle 30 on the fingers of the individual receiving the manicure. The nail polish, top coat or bottom coat bottle 30 is firmly resecured within the pocket holder 24 and readily available to the manicurist in order to replenish the coating on the brush.

Still further, the nail polish bottle is readily visible to the manicurist in this configuration, which allows the manicurist to judge the orientation of the nail polish, top coat or bottom coat bottle 30 while the manicure is being performed in order to prevent spillage.

The nail polish bottle pocket holder 10 can be utilized on the hand of a pedicurist in a manner previously described wherein a pedicure is being performed on the toes of an individual. The nail polish bottle pocket holder 10 is secured and oriented as previously described and allows the individual performing the manicure the free use of the fingers on the hand on which the nail polish pocket holder 10 is secured to assist in providing the pedicure to the toes of an individual. The same advantage is obtained by the nail polish bottle pocket holder in performing a manicure are also obtained in performing a pedicure.

While the drawings illustrate the nail polish bottle pocket holder secured to the left hand while polish, top coat or base coat is applied with the right hand, the nail polish bottle pocket holder could similarly be secured to the right hand while the nail polish, top coat or base coat is applied with the left hand.

Therefore, while the present invention has been disclosed with respect to the preferred embodiments thereof, it will be recognized by those of ordinary skill in the art that various changes and modifications can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. It is therefore manifestly intended that the invention be limited only by the claims and the equivalence thereof.

Claims

1. A nail polish, top coat or base coat bottle holder, said holder comprising:

a flexible resistant elastic strap having a first end and a second end, said first end and said second end having cooperable securing means thereon for securing said flexible resilient elastic strap about the palm and back of the hand adjacent to juncture of a thumb and the palm;

a receiving well having a circumferential side wall and bottom wall for receiving and securing a nail polish, top coat or base coat bottle of polish, said receiving well positioned between said first end and said second end of said flexible resilient elastic strap for positioning said receiving well adjacent a palm of a hand when said flexible resilient elastic strap is secured about said palm and said back of said hand.

A nail polish, top coat or bottom coat bottle holder in accordance with claim 1 wherein said first end of said flexible resilient elastic strap is formed with a D-ring and said second end of said flexible resilient elastic strap is formed with a hook and loop fastener means for passage through said D-ring and securing said flexible resilient elastic strap about said palm and said back of said hand.

3. A nail polish, top coat or bottom coat bottle holder in accordance with claim 1 wherein said receiving well is formed of elastic material to accommodate bottles of varying size and dimension.

4. A nail polish, top coat or base coat bottle holder in accordance with claim 1 wherein said receiving well has affixed thereto, a loop member cooperative with a neck of said nail polish, top coat or base coat bottle to further secure said bottle in said receiving well.

5. A nail polish, top coat or base coat bottle holder in accordance with claim 1 wherein said positioning of said holder allows a user to control and view the orientation of the bottle in said receiving well.
