Tent with an extended roof portion
A tent with a roof section (20) comprises at least one awning section (21) and a linkage structure (10), which can be pulled from a non-use state to a use state and, vice versa which can be pushed together from the use state into the non-use state. The roof section (20) can be arranged on the linkage structure (10). A mechanism is provided that brings the awning section (21) automatically from its non-use state to its use state when the linkage structure (10) is pulled apart and brings the awning section (21) automatically from its use state into its non-use state when the linkage structure is pushed together utilizing the movement of at least one linkage rod (1′) of the linkage structure (10).
The present invention relates to a tent with at least one awning or extended roof section.
Known are tent systems, for example so-called party tents, which are designed for a temporary, speedy use as protection from sun or rain. Essentially, these tents comprise a scissor-type linkage structure carrying the textile roof portion, said structure being fully collapsible when not in use and being pulled open in a simple manner when setting up the tent, such that the support rods that define the outer contour of the tent are being pulled apart and in this manner bring the entire tent into its use state. In this process, the linkage rods are pulled apart as well. In its simplest form, such a tent has a square design (e.g., 3 m×3 m) with a support rod being located in each corner. At the bottom, telescope-type extensions may be pulled out after the scissor-type linkage structure has been pulled apart, such that the tent can obtain its proper height. In this case, the pulled-apart linkage rods that are connected in a scissor-type manner are then located above the standing height of persons. The roof portion, which is made of a suitable textile material and rests on the linkage rods, is then its use state as well. Such a tent is described, for example, in WO 2004/015228 A1.
When in use, such tents typically exhibit a rectangular or square shape and may feature a hanging valance at the outer edges of the roof section giving the tent a pleasant appearance.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONIt is the objective of the present invention to design a tent of the known type such that without significant effort it features a larger floor plan when in use.
This objective, as well as other objectives which will become apparent from the discussion that follow is achieved, according to the present invention, by providing a tent with a roof section which comprises at least one awning section and a linkage structure, which can be pulled from a non-use state to a use sate and, vice versa, which can be pushed together from the use state into the non-use state. The roof section can be arranged on the linkage structure. A mechanism is provided that brings the awning section (21) automatically from its non-use state to its use state when the linkage structure is pulled apart and brings the awning section automatically from its use state into its non-use state when the linkage structure is pushed together utilizing the movement of at least one linkage rod of the linkage structure.
The essential advantage of the present invention is that the floor plan of a tent in the use state can be extended in that during set-up of the tent—i.e., when pulling apart the scissor-type linkage structure—awning sections are placed into a position that enlarges the tent in a marquee-like manner toward the outside. It is significant that the movement that is generated when setting up the tent and pulling apart the linkage rods that are connected to each other in a scissor-type manner is used to automatically extend at least one awning section. This means that advantageously, it is not necessary to use laborious and time-consuming procedures to attach separate awning sections to the roof section of a set-up tent. Awnings extended in this manner increase the effective floor space of the tent subject to the invention. An additional advantage is that in this manner a protection from sun and rain is provided as well.
The preferred mechanism for extending the awning section has a simple structure and can be manufactured cost-effectively.

Claims
1. A tent with a roof section, at least one awning section and a linkage structure, which can be pulled from a non-use state to a use state and vice versa, can be pushed together from a use state into the non-use state, wherein the roof section can be arranged on the linkage structure, said tent comprising a mechanism that brings the awning section automatically from its non-use state to its use state when the linkage structure is pulled apart and brings the awning section automatically from its use state into its non-use state when the linkage structure is pushed together utilizing the movement of at least one linkage rod of the linkage structure.
2. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein the awning section is supported by two rod-shaped carrier elements, each of which is attached to a support rod located at one corner of the tent in a pivoting manner, and in that at each carrier element, the one end of a connecting rod is arranged in a pivoting manner and the other end is pivoted at the linkage rod of the linkage structure.
3. A tent as set forth in claim 2, wherein the free end of the linkage rod is hinged to a gliding part and said gliding part can move along a support rod when the linkage structure is pulled apart.
4. A tent as set forth in claim 1 which it exhibits a rectangular floor plan, wherein four support rods located at the corner of the rectangle are resting next to one another in the non-use state and are in the use state arranged at the corners of the tent and wherein an awning carrier element is arranged at at least two neighboring support rod.
5. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein one carrier element each is arranged at the neighboring support rods of one side of the tent.
6. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein one carrier element each is arranged at the support rods of two neighboring sides of the tent.
7. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein one carrier element each is arranged at the support rods of three neighboring sides of the tent.
8. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein one carrier element each is arranged at the support rods of all four sides of the tent.
9. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein the at least one awning section is formed in one piece with the roof section.
10. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein the at least one awning section is attached, preferable by sewing, at one edge of the roof section.
11. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein the connecting rod is articulated to a linkage rod that moves in one plane between two support rods, when the linkage structure is pulled apart from the non-use state into the use state, said plane being adjacent to the plane from which the carrier element is moved out.
12. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein in the corner area of a support rod, a carrier element runs in the direction of the angle bisector of the angle between two adjacent planes between the support rod and the two neighboring support rods, which meet in the corner area, toward the outside and using a first connecting rod is coupled to a first linkage rod that moves from the non-use state into the use state when the tent is pulled apart.
13. A tent as set forth in claim 12, wherein the first connecting rod moves in a plane that borders on the support rod of the corner area when the tent is pulled apart from the non-use state into the use state.
14. A tent as set forth in claim 12, wherein the carrier element is coupled to a second linkage rod using a second connecting rod, where said second linkage rod moves from the non-use state into the use state when the tent is pulled apart.
15. A tent as set forth in claim 14, wherein the second connecting rod moves in a second plane that is adjacent to the support rod of the corner area and is next to the first plane when the tent is pulled apart from the non-use state into the use state.
16. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein in the use position, the carrier element runs downward under an acute angle to the corresponding support rod.
17. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein in the non-use position, the carrier element rests approximately against the respective support rod.
18. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein the connecting rods are articulated to the respective linkage rods and/or connecting rods (4) using universal joints.
19. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein carrier elements that hold the awning section run perpendicular to an edge of the roof section, in that at least two connecting rods and at least two additional connecting rods are provided that transfer the movement of the linkage structure onto the carrier elements, in that one additional connecting rod each is pivoted with its one side at the gliding part and with its other side at a carrier element, and in that each one side of a connecting rod is pivoted at a linkage rod of the linkage structure and the other side of the connecting rod at the carrier element such that the connecting rod generates a force that pushes the carrier element outward and tautens the awning section when in the use position.
20. A tent as set forth in claim 19, wherein the other side of the connecting rod is pivoted at the carrier element at a place that lies between, preferably centered between, the point at which the carrier element is pivoted at the support rod and the point at which the other side of the additional connecting rod is pivoted at the carrier element.
21. A tent as set forth in claim 19, wherein at least one additional carrier element that runs parallel to the carrier elements and is hinged at an additional support rod is located between two outer carrier elements and is supported by an additional connecting rod that is pivoted at its one side at the gliding part of the additional support rod and with its other side at the additional carrier element, and wherein at each side of the additional carrier element, a connecting rod is provided, whose one side is pivoted at a linkage rod and whose other side at the additional carrier element wherein the connecting rod generates a force that acts in the direction of the additional carrier element when in the use position.
22. A tent as set forth in claim 1, wherein the support rods are arranged at the corner points of the tent.
