No Sew Scarf and Fashion Accessory

Abstract

A fashion accessory comprises a body having two ends that can be used as a neck garment, belt, or attached to any other article of clothing as decorative trim. The fashion accessory is flexible linear shape of any length produced by tying strips of fabric on to a center cord. The ends are secured simply by tying the cord ends over the first and last piece of fabric or by tying the cord ends through any closed geometrical shape such as a ring. Strips of non-raveling fabric are cut to length and no sewing is required to produce said fashion accessory. The fashion accessory can be worn around the neck for appearance as well as for warmth. Such accessory can also be used as a decorative belt or can be attached to any other piece of clothing such as down the outside leg of pants.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates generally to articles of clothing and, more particularly, to a fashion accessory which can be worn around the neck, waist, or down the side of one's body or attached to any additional article of clothing worn by the wearer. This invention can also be attached to other fashion accessories such as purses, carry bags, or umbrellas.

Traditional scarves, belts or other fashion accessories made of fabric are generally produced by means of attaching pieces of fabric or material together by sewing or adhering the materials together for the desired shape or length.

Production of other fashion accessory and specifically warming scarves, may also be produced simply by cutting a desired length of fabric which has enough width or horizontal dimension so that the producer can cut into the longitudinal perpendicularly to a set distance so as to produce a scarf which has flaps of the material for visual aesthetics. This type of scarf does not need any sewing device as well, but it is limited to one fabric choice and no additional design options.

This invention allows for multiple uses of the fashion accessory as well as unlimited design options. For instance, the fabric strips which are tied onto the center cord can be of different colors, textures, fabric types and designs. The producer of the fashion accessory can also insert articles of design such as strings of beads or jewelry or other creative materials between the fabric strips to produce unique fashion accessories. The design of the fashion accessory as well as the use allows for unlimited creativity and production because there is no need for a sewing device or adhesive.

Should the producer desire to add some sewing method for the start and finish of the accessory ends, it is not necessary, and the method for creating the article still requires tying the fabric strips onto the center cord for the desired and unique appearance.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF INVENTION

There are many different fashion accessories which serve as neck scarves, belts or other added decorative fabric articles and most require the use of a sewing machine, needle, or other sewing apparatus. This article or fashion accessory can be made without the use of any sewing device. The only tool required to produce this fashion accessory is a means for cutting the desired length of cord and the strips of fabric which are tied onto the center cord. By tying cut strips of fabric onto a center cord which is flexible, it is possible to produce such items as a neck scarf, belt, arm decoration, or fashion accessory that can be attached to other articles of clothing, such as a pair of pants, a sweater or a skirt. This fashion accessory can also be attached to other fashion articles such as purses for decorative handles, or carry bags, or around umbrellas. When this fashion accessory is used as a scarf, it can also provide a function of warming.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION

The present invention is for the production of a fashion accessory that can be used as scarf (FIG. 2), belt, or attached to other articles of clothing for decorative purposes. The present invention allows for the production of said fashion accessory without the use of a sewing device or apparatus or means of adhering pieces of the article with products such as glue or tape.

The production of said fashion accessory is easily accomplished by beginning with a center cord that is flexible, such as ribbon, string, yarn, or other flexible material with longitudinal dimension (FIG. 3). The center cord is cut to the desired length of the fashion accessory such as needed for a scarf, belt, or decorative attachment.

Strips of fabric (FIG. 5) are then cut to a length for the horizontal dimension that is desirable for the finished appearance. The strips of fabric also have a width dimension that is also cut for the desired appearance.

The first strip of fabric is then tied to the center cord, leaving enough length of the center cord so that it can be tied around the strip and folded over to be covered by the subsequent tied strips (FIG. 7). As an alternative, a starting ring or other closed geometrical shape can be used to start and completed the article of this invention (FIG. 4).

The additional strips of fabric are continually tied to the center cord and pushed to be secured next to the previous strips so that the center cord is not exposed (FIG. 8).

The last strip is attached in the same manner as the first strip, but a gap is reserved between the last strip and previously tied strips so that the end of the cord can be tied around the last strip and hidden under adjoining strips of fabric (FIG. 9).

Additional strips of fabric are then tied within the gap, completing the fashion article and covering any remaining center cord (FIG. 1).

Claims

1. A fashion accessory article of clothing comprising: a center flexible cord of desired longitudinal dimension, and a plurality of individual fabric strips tied to the center flexible cord with a central portion of the strips such that the ends of each of the strips hang loosely from the center flexible cord, and the plurality of strips are arranged in a longitudinal pattern along the center flexible cord so as to substantially cover the cord.

2. The fashion accessory article of clothing of claim 1, wherein the center flexible cord is comprised of fabric ribbon, lace, string, yarn, rope or plastic cording.

3. The fashion accessory article of clothing of claim 1, wherein the center flexible cord has a minimal width of ¼″ and a maximum width dimension of 2″.

5. The fashion accessory article of clothing of claim 1 having a starting and ending closed geometric shape capable of having the cord threaded through and tied securely or fastened by other means.

6. The fashion accessory article of clothing of claim 1, wherein the fabric strips are comprised of flexible material.

7. The fashion accessory article of clothing of claim 1, wherein the fabric strips have a minimum thickness of 2 millimeters.

10. The fashion accessory article of clothing of claim 1, wherein the center flexible cord is a round cord having a diameter equal to or between ¼″ and 1″.

11. The fashion accessory article of clothing of claim 5, wherein the closed geometric shape is one of a ring, a square, or a triangle.

12. The fashion accessory article of clothing of claim 6, wherein the flexible material is one of fleece, nylon, rayon, felt, wool, cotton, blended fabrics, or flexible plastic.
