Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

This invention relates to a protecting fence and its positioning member, particularly to one that is made of engineering plastics with a high resistance to impact, able to be quickly built.

2. Description of the Prior Art

Commonly, as shown in FIG. 1, conventional protecting fences 1 located along two sides of roads are made of metal, provided with fastening holes 10 for being inserted with bolts 13 to keep the protecting fences 1 fixed together with fence posts 11 and buffer blocks 12. As the single metallic protecting fence 1 is made with a limited length, so there are many connecting points to be handled, posing not only an increase of manpower to advance cost, but also lengthen constructing time.

The fence post 11 is usually made of concrete, metal or lumber. Among them, concrete is acknowledged as the most ideal one because it is far from corrosion. However, in order to make the fence post 11 more resistant to impact, the buffer block 12 has to be sandwiched between the protecting fence 1 and the fence post 11 by fastening with the bolt 13.

But, the conventional protecting fences have disadvantages as described below.

1. As the protecting fence 1 is made of metal with a lack of elasticity, it is easy to be bent or broken to potentially harm a car or persons in the car if collided by a car. In addition, as the metal is uneasy to be adhered with reflective sheets or decorations, it is always coated with reflective paint if necessary. However, the reflective paint is as well to gradually age to peel off in exposure to sunlight and rain, losing its reflective warning effect.

2. The buffer blocks 12 are mostly made of lumber that is to be rotten under exposure to sunlight and rain, thus having to be replaced with new ones after a certain period of time.

3. As the protecting fences 1 must be assembled together with the buffer blocks 12 and the fence posts 11 while constructing, a lot of manpower is needed to pose high labor cost and a long constructing period of time may be needed.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The objective of this invention is to offer a protecting fence with a high impact resistance and a reflecting warning effect.

The main characteristics of the invention are a protecting fence, a positioning block and a positioning base. The protecting fence is made of engineering plastics with reflective bands. With the plastics characterized by having a high resistance to impact, a car or persons m the car can be more securely protected in case of colliding with the protecting fence. The positioning member includes the positioning block, the positioning base and a fence post. The positioning base is first fixed with the fence post, and then the protecting fence is fastened with the positioning base, not only saving manpower to lower construction cost, but also shortening construction period. The positioning base and a rear fixing member are respectively provided with a fence combining surface to wrap around the fence post and get fastened, so that the protecting fence, the positioning base and the fence post are tightly fixed together to perform securely as a protecting fence along a road.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

FIGS. 2 and 3 show a first preferred embodiment of a protecting fence and its positioning member in the present invention. The protecting fence 2 is integrally made of engineering plastics by extrusion to have a waved shape, provided with plural projective surfaces 20, a concave surface 21 formed between every two adjacent projective surfaces 20, a reflective band (or sheet) 23 integrally formed on each of the projective surfaces 20, an upper edge 24, a bottom edge 25 and a rectangular slot 26.

And, as shown in FIGS. 2˜4, the positioning member employed to tighten the protecting fence 2 and a fence post 5 includes a positioning block 3 and a positioning base 4.

The positioning block 3 is provided with a through hole 30 and an inner surface 31 formed corresponding to the shape of the protecting fence 2 for the positioning block 3 to tightly attach with the protecting fence 2.

The positioning base 4 is provided with a fence combining surface 40 bored with plural holes 400 for being inserted through by bolts 41 that are simultaneously to pass through the through holes 30 of the positioning block 3 and the rectangular slot 26 of the protecting fence 2 to keep the protecting fence 2 and the positioning block 3 precisely fixed together, with the adjacent protecting fences 2 well connected as shown in FIG. 6. Extended horizontally from the top and the bottom of the fence combining surface 40 are respectively an upper edge surface 42 and a bottom edge surface 43, and a groove 44 is respectively formed between the fence combining surface 40 and the upper edge surface 42 and the bottom edge surface 43 as well. The groove 44 is employed to engage with the upper edge 24 and the bottom edge 25 to form a primary connection, so that the protecting fence 2 can be conveniently fastened together with the positioning base 4 by the bolt 41. Plural through openings 45 are formed behind the fence combining surface 40 to have an approximate width for being handily inserted with a tool or a hand to carry out fastening. Located behind the through openings 45 is a post combining surface 46 shaped semi-circular to match with the fence post 5 as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, and two fastening holes 47 are bored in two sides of the post combining surface 46 respectively. In addition, the positioning base 4 is also provided with a rear fixing member 48 having a post combining surface 480 shaped semi-circular for matching with the fence post 5, and two fastening holes 481 bored in two sides of the post combining surface 46 respectively for corresponding to the fastening holes 47. So, with the post combining surfaces 46 and 480 wrapped around the fence post 5 and with the corresponding fastening holes 46 and 481 tightly fastened by bolts 49, the positioning base 4 can be completely fixed with the fence post 5. In building the present invention, the fence post 5 is first fixed together with the positioning base 4 and then, the protecting fence 2 is fixed with the positioning base 4. Thus, the protecting fence 1 in the present invention can be easily and quickly assembled. In addition, an annular reflective sheet 50 can be wrapped around the top of the fence post 5 for boosting security.

FIG. 4 shows the protecting fence 2, the positioning base 4 are merely built along one side of the fence post 5, according to the construction of FIGS. 2 and 3 mentioned previously.

FIG. 5 shows the protecting fence 2, two positioning bases 4 are fixed at two sides of the fence post 5, according to the construction of FIGS. 2 and 3 mentioned previously, by means of the bolts 49 respectively passing the through holes 47 of the two sides of the post combining surface 46.

FIG. 6 shows two adjacent protecting fences 2 can be fixed close to each other by one positioning block 3 and one positioning base 4.

And, as shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, a second preferred embodiment of a protecting fence and its positioning member in the present invention has the sidewalls of the positioning block 3 additionally attached with reflective sheets 32 to advance driving security.

The advantages of the invention are described below.

With the reflective (or fluorescent) lines or sheets 32 formed integrally together with the protecting fence 2 while extrusion, they not only do not peel off, but also can make a bright reflection to advance driving safety, especially shined by the headlights of a car in the dark. And, as the protecting fence 2 is integrally made of foamed plastics by extrusion, it has not only a high resistance to impact, but also a high ability of shock absorption.

While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
