Description
FIELD OF INVENTION

The present invention relates to a luggage bag containing storage units. The storage units may be affixed to the luggage bag housing and may be collapsible and/or removable from the luggage bag housing.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Various types of luggage bags were well known in the art. Many of these luggage bags include extra compartments and pockets for storage. However, present luggage bags lack sufficient organization and do not easily allow the traveler to easily separate articles. Furthermore, present luggage bags to not allow travelers to easily remove individual storage units and use them for separate storage at the destination, e.g., hotel.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

It is the object of the present invention to provide a luggage bag containing storage units in which the storage units are typically removable from the luggage bag housing. There is provided within one luggage bag removable multiple storage units. Thus, once arriving at the destination, e.g., the hotel room, the traveler may remove the individual storage units so as to keep the traveler's articles organized. Moreover, the individual storage units allow the traveler to easily separate items such as clean from dirty clothes.

Another object of the invention is to provide an improved luggage bag containing removable storage units of definite shape. Thus, the luggage bag provides the traveler the ability transport articles in the individual storage units.

Still another object of the invention is to provide an improved luggage bag containing removable storage units, which are collapsible. Thus, the traveler has ability to use the storage units at the traveler's discretion with the ability to use the storage units during any part of the traveler's journey.

These and other objects of the present invention will be seen from the following specification and claims in conjunction with the drawing.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is the front elevation of the luggage housing wherein A represents the location of the storage unit side rails attached to the luggage housing.

FIG. 2 is the front elevation of the luggage housing wherein A represents the location of the storage unit side rails attached to the luggage housing and the wherein B represents the individual storage units

FIG. 3 is the front elevation of the individual storage units of definite shape in full, half collapsed and fully collapsed mode wherein A represents the location of the location of the storage unit side rails attached to the storage units and C represents the metal support structure forming the storage unit, wherein metal support structure allows the storage unit to be folded upon itself.

It will be understood that the above drawings merely illustrate an embodiment of the claimed inventions and other embodiments are contemplated within the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

As exemplified in the drawings, the present invention comprises a luggage bag housing containing separate storage units. As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the separate storage units are affixed to the luggage housing, preferably using side rails. The preferred side rails are attached to the luggage housing and the individual storage units. The side rails preferably run the length of the luggage housing and of the individual storage units. The side rails of the luggage housing and the individual storage units may be interconnected and detachable. As shown in FIG. 3, the individual storage units are preferably of approximately rectangular shape and formed using a metal support structure. The preferred metal support structure forms individual storage units of definite shape and is collapsible. The metal support structure allows the storage unit to be folded upon itself.

Luggage Housing

The luggage bag housing of the present invention has top, bottom and side walls. The luggage bag housing may range in size. The luggage bag housing must have a definite shape and may be in the form of conventional luggage bags such as wheeled luggage bags, duffel bags, and tote bags. The luggage bag housing may be constructed as hard-sided cases, soft-sided cases, or soft-sided cases, so that the luggage housing is of definite shape. The luggage bag housing contains a closure mechanism along the top wall or the side wall. The closure mechanism is one well known in the art, such as a zipper or hook and loop fastener. The luggage housing may be constructed using conventional luggage material such as nylon, natural fibers, leathers, plastic, metal, or combinations thereof. The inside of the luggage housing is typically lined. The luggage housing may also contain separate storage compartments such as gussets, wetpacks, mesh pockets, outside pockets, and/or various packing systems. Furthermore, the luggage housing may also comprise various handles including pull straps, retractable handles, or shoulder straps.

Separate Storage Units

The separate storage units of the present invention have a top wall, bottom wall, and side walls. The separate storage units are of definite shape and are preferably collapsible. The number and size of separate storage units of the present invention may vary. The separate storage units are made of conventional luggage material such as nylon, natural fibers, leathers, plastic, metal or combinations thereof. The separate storage units are preferably constructed with a metal support structure, which allows the storage unit the collapse upon itself. The metal support structure may be constructed with wire mesh or a series of pivot points as to allow the storage unit to collapse. The separate storage units are of a shape as to span the luggage bag housing and are typically rectangular in shape. The separate storage units have a closure mechanism either along the top wall or side wall of the storage unit. The closure mechanism is one well known in the art such as a zipper or hook and loop fastener. The separate storage units may contain additional storage compartments such as gussets, wetpacks, mesh pockets, outside pockets, and/or various packing systems.

The separate storage units are affixed to the inside of the luggage bag housing as to allow the storage units to be easily detached from the luggage bag housing. The separate storage units may be affixed to the inside of the luggage bag housing conventional fasteners such as snap fasteners, rivets, hook and loop fasteners, and the like. Preferably the separate storage units are attached using side rails such as ball-bearing drawer slides or slide guides. The side rails may be made of natural (e.g., metal, wood), man-made materials (e.g., plastic) or combinations thereof. The side rails preferably run the full length of the side of the separate storage units and the full length of the side wall of the luggage bag housing. The side rails are preferably designed to maximize extension of the storage unit from the rear side wall of the luggage bag housing. The side rails allow the storage units to be detached from the luggage bag housing.

The foregoing luggage bag with removable storage units serves the overall needs of the traveler by increasing the traveler's flexibility and organization. The arrangement of removable separate storage units allows the traveler to keep articles organized inside the luggage bag housing and at the destination. Moreover, the ability for the storage units to collapse or be removed from the luggage bag housing completely allows the traveler greater flexibility.
