Out of sight grill utensils storage device

Abstract

A device for the out of sight storage of grill utensils that consists of a wheeled container with a specially designed ring or insert with dedicated hooks on which the said utensils can be hanged, and made of a variety of materials including but not limited to metals, plastic, or wood, and an additional insert for the storage of spices and condiments.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

This invention refers to a device for the storage of grill utensils including but not limited to fork, knife, tongs, spatula, lighter, wine opener, gloves, in such a way that the utensils are hanged on a ring, or insert, or liner that is fitted to a separately produced container, that could be a specially designed wheeled container or a current model of a garbage container. The hooks can have a variety of shapes and forms including but not limited to rectangular and circular, to allow for the safe, secure attachment of the different grill utensils. In addition, a separate insert is provided for the storage of the various grilling condiments and seasonings.

2. Discussion of Background

One of the current approaches to storing grill utensils is by hanging them on the grill itself on integrated tools hooks as shown on the website of Williams-Sonoma, www.williams-sonoma.com/products/h278/index.cfm?pkey=cOUTGACI and on FIG. 1. This approach has the disadvantage that the tools are exposed to the elements if the grill itself is not stored in an enclosed space. Some of the utensils such as the gloves or lighter will sustain water damaged by rain.

Another approach is to store the utensils in their own carrier. An example of a zippered utensil carrier is presented in FIG. 1, from the website of Two Dogs Design www.twodogsdesigns.com/utensils.html. This design has the disadvantage that it does not allow the storage of all utensils, including gloves and lighters. In addition, unless the tools are cleaned thoroughly after each use, the zippered carrier will become excessively soiled in a short period of time.

Alternatively, other designs for grill utensils carriers may include boxes made of a variety of materials such as wood, textiles or stainless steel, with or without provisions for glove storage, as shown in FIG. 3 from the website of Suemakeover, www.suemakeover.com/Grilling-and-Game-Collection-01.htm. The same limitations regarding the stringent cleaning requirements apply to these designs, as well as the inability to store the lighting device. In most cases the grill utensils are stored inside the grill cabinet, if the grill has one, on the floor of the cabinet. In this case keeping the inside of the cabinet clean becomes a major chore.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The grill utensils storage device according to this invention consists of a ring that can be fabricated from metal, plastic, wood or other materials, and which has appended a number of hooks of different sizes and shapes, as shown in FIG. 4. The shape of the ring follows the contour of any garbage container currently on the market and attaches to the upper side of the can as shown in FIG. 1. Grill cooking utensils can be suspended on the hooks on the inside of the can. The lid of the container can then be closed, keeping the cooking utensils out of sight and out of the weather.

Alternatively, a plastic of metal insert or liner, as shown in FIG. 5 can be used for the same purpose. The liner is designed such as to fit snuggly inside the container without the requirement of additional support or binders. The dedicated hooks can be an integral part of the liner or can be attached to it separately.

Finally, a whole specialized container can be fabricated such as to meet the requirements in FIG. 4 and FIG. 5.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

With reference being made to the accompanying drawings presented in FIG. 4 and FIG. 5, the present invention is addressed to the design and production of devices for the out of sight storage of grill utensils that consists of a specially designed ring or insert with dedicated hooks on which the said utensils can be hanged.

Claims

1. A device for the out of sight and out of weather storage of grill utensils that can be adapted to existing containers such as garbage containers. The grill utensils that can be stored include, but are not limited to fork, knife, tongs, spatula, lighter, wine opener, and gloves.

2. A device according to claim 1 that consists of a ring with specialized hooks of various sizes and shapes unto which said utensils could be hung.

3. A ring with hooks according to claim 2 wherein the ring can be fabricated of metal, wood, plastic or textiles.

4. A device according to claim 1 that consists of a liner or insert that fits into an existing container without the need of additional support or binding.

5. An insert according to claim 4 wherein the insert can be fabricated of metal, plastic wood or other materials.

6. A ring with hooks or insert with hooks or separate hooks wherein the devices are fabricated by standard shaping processes that include but are not limited to such processes as stamping, casting, cutting.

7. A specially designed container that includes devices as per claim 1 and that could have wheels.
