Jacket portal

The Jacket Portal is made from a injection molding process. It is made from ABS plastic. The Jacket Portal is assembled with 6 black oxide screws. The Jacket Portal has a rubber adhesive backed gasket which goes on the outside of the garment between the ABS pieces. The Jacket Portal is used to allow a hunter, Steele worker, rock climber, Power company worker, construction worker, aircraft crew any person who would wear a safety harness to be able to wear a safety harness under a outer garment and thus pull the safety strap thru the outer garment. The Jacket Portal allows someone to put a water proof hole through any type of clothing that would be worn over a safety harness to allow the safely strap of that harness to be pulled thru the clothing comfortably out of the way. It allows someone to more safely wear their safety harness without the buckles and other straps hanging or catching on foreign objects.

PARENT CASE TEXT

This application claims the benefit of provisional application No. 60,955,559 filed on Aug. 13, 2007.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The invention uses two pieces of molded ABS plastic and a rubber gasket that are attached to a hunter's jacket below the hood or collar seam of the jacket, one piece goes on the inside of the jacket and the second piece goes on the outside of the jacket with the gasket going under the outside piece next to the fabric of the jacket. The pieces are attached to each other by four stainless steel screws. The ABS plastic pieces each have an opening for the hunter's safety strap to go thru. The ABS plastic piece that goes on the inside of the jacket is flat and the piece of ABS plastic on the outside of the jacket has a rounded top to it that covers most of the opening to prevent any moisture from entering the jacket. The rubber gasket that is put on under the outer ABS plastic piece against the fabric also prevents moisture from entering the jacket. Once the pieces are attached to the jacket a hole is cut thru the jacket to allow the safety strap to pass thru the jacket and then attached to the tree the hunter is hunting in. The flat piece of ABS plastic that goes on the inside of the hunter's jacket is textured at the point where the plastic touches the jacket to prevent the fabric from withdrawing from under the plastic at the point where the hole was cut. The rubber gasket on the outside of the jacket prevents the fabric from withdrawing on the outside of the jacket. Also provided in the packaging is a solid piece of ABS plastic to cover the hole in the jacket if the outer piece with a hole is ever removed.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The invention is directed to allow hunters to wear their bulking safety straps under their jacket. Without this invention installed in their jacket they either have to wear their safety strap on the outside of their jacket or they can wear it under their jacket and deal with the strap going up your back at an odd angle or near your face.
