A portable, multi-configurable exercising device which allows a full range of traditional exercises and also marital arts movements to be performed in correct fashion on a compactable, weight and tension adjustable apparatus. All components are collapsible within itself and also reconfigures in such a way as to form a multi-exercise embodiments. Several components are adjustably de-attachable thereby creating multiple embodiments and allowing the performance of many exercises.

The end pieces 9, 3 include a hand grip at each end and on the opposing end additional weights may be inserted into the body or looped onto the outer surface. These are handgrips for the user. The preferred exercise with the two end pieces detached from the center piece may be used as a weighted Billy club exercise. The user may simulate traditional marital arts movements within his exercise. Said end pieces are collapsible to adjust length depending on exercise or for storage concerns. The small portion of the end piece 3 inserts into the hollow of larger end piece 9 and locks into place. Any form of locking mechanism as mentioned above may be utilized

The center piece alone may be used for an exercise in itself. The center tensional mechanism 1 is adjustable for increasing the strengthening and toning activities. In accordance with the invention, there is provided an exercise device including a pair of nonaligned hand grips which are rotatably mounted on a nonlinear bar and tensional mechanism which may be a spring-biased to provide adjustable resistance to motion through predetermined symmetrical strokes. The device preferably includes detachable auxiliary weights 5, 11 which enable the total weight of the device to be adjusted the spring biasing force applied to the grips is preferably individually adjustable for each grip. The orientation of the biasing means, enabling symmetrical movement of the grips against spring torsion, enables the user to move both arms and hands in identical, symmetrical motion in an exercise, with either the same force resisting torsion of each grip, or a selected difference in the tensional resistance between the two grips by adjusting proximity of said grips. The further the distance of the grips from each other, the more reduced the tension of the spring. The springs are preferably coil springs which are disposed within the respective grips. In accordance with one feature of the invention, the grips are biased for rotation by a pair of torsion springs disposed internally of the grips to apply torque to the grips such that the grips may be reciprocated symmetrically with respect to one another. Said entire center piece may be collapsible within the center hollow of the end pieces. Additionally the end pieces collapse into themselves reduces the length of the end pieces by half. In fully collapsed form said apparatus can be easily stored. Workouts may also be done with the apparatus in different collapsed stages.
For aerobic movement, the bar is used with un-weighted end pieces of weight W and center piece of weight M. For muscle toning activity, weighted pieces are used, up to a maximum of five additional pounds in the center piece and each end piece.
The end caps are rubber tipped to provide friction for a non-slip use of the bar, as where the bar is used as a support.
The exercise bar is a multi-purpose exercise and fitness device. It is used as a non-weighted bar for aerobic movements and routines. It is used as a weighted bar for specific muscle strengthening and toning activity.
The foregoing description of a preferred embodiment of this invention, including any dimensions, angles, or proportions, is intended as illustrative. The concept and scope of the invention are limited only by the following claims and equivalents thereof.
Claims
1. An apparatus for multipurpose exercise comprising:
- a. Middle portion comprising a center resistance member having at least lateral two rigid portions on each opposing end with locking mechanisms;
- b. Attachable opposing collapsible tubular bars with at least one release mechanism to the middle portion;
- c. Attachable weights on the opposing tubular bars
- d. Reconfigurable multipurpose exercise apparatus depending on attached
- e. A staff is formed by attaching the ends of the middle portion to both fully extended tubular bars to aid in martial arts movements and other traditional exercises;
- f. A sword or short staff is formed attaching one end of the middle portion to one fully extended tubular bar to aid in traditional martial arts sword exercises and other traditional movements;
- g. Billy clubs are formed by with the two fully extended tabular bars; and
- h. A nunchuck is formed with the middle portion to enable a person to practice martial arts movements.
2. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said resistance member is adjustable for added resistance.
3. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said additional attachable weights are slideaby looped attached onto the outer surface of said tubular bars.
4. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said additional weights maybe inserted into the interior cavity of the tubular bars.
5. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said apparatus is coated with a shock absorbing polymer.
6. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said middle portion contains hand grips on each opposing end.
7. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said tubular bars contain a hand grip on the end opposing end of attachment point.
8. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said apparatus is weighted.
9. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said center resistance member is a semi-rigid polymer.
10. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said center resistance member is a resistance coil.
11. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said apparatus may be transformed into a staff sliding the entire center portion within the inner cavity of the tubular bars.
12. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said apparatus may be reconfigured into a nunchaku like equipment by only utilizing the middle portion.
13. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said apparatus may be reconfigured into billy club like equipment by only utilizing the un-collapsed tubular portions.
14. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said apparatus may be reconfigured into sword like equipment by only attaching the center portion to one tubular bar.
15. An exercise apparatus as in claim 1 whereas, said apparatus may be used as a wrists and forearm exercise with a twisting motion with resistance stemming from the center resistance member
16. A method of using a multipurpose exercise apparatus for cardio exercises comprising:
- a. Utilizing said multipurpose exercise apparatus to mimic traditional martial arts weapons tote utilized in traditional martial art movements such as but not limited to: rowing movements, nunchaku movements, staff movements, sword movements, whip, spear movements, or billy club movements to create a new form of exercises.
17. An apparatus for multipurpose exercise comprising:
- a. Middle portion comprising a center resistance member having at least lateral two rigid portions on each opposing end with locking mechanisms;
- b. Attachable opposing collapsible tubular bars with at least one release mechanism to the middle portion; and
- c. Attachable weights on the opposing tubular bars.
