BULLETPROOF VEST
A bulletproof vest which is adapted to the body and which comprises a part which can be adapted to the front side of the body and a back part which can be adapted to the back side of the body and both parts comprise several pieces of protective sheets (1-4); (6, 7) with the help of which the areas of the body which are to be protected, are covered. Said adjacent pieces of protective sheets are joined next to each other with a butt connection so that a butt connection hinge is at a diagonal angle preferably at an angle of 30-60° and an overlapping, protective skirting (5) belongs to the outer side of the butt connection hinge and is thinner than the actual protective sheets.
The invention relates to a bulletproof vest which is adapted to the body comprising a part which can be adapted to the front side of the body and the back part which can be adapted to the back side of the body and both parts comprise several pieces of protective sheets with which areas of the body, which are to be protected, are covered.
Previously is known a bulletproof vest which is manufactured from several, hard, ballistic protective sheets in order to be adapted to the shape the body comprising a front part and a back part, Separate sheets are joined partly overlapping on top of the other sheets like fish scales whereupon the hinges between the sheets will be covered.
The disadvantage of the bulletproof vest panel described above is the fact that because of the scale like construction the body will sometimes be protected by a single sheet area and sometimes by a double sheet area if the thickness of the sheets stays the same. If, on the other hand, the thickness of the sheets is made variable in a way that thinned sheets will belong to the overlapping sections, the solution will be very hard to implement.
A protective panel, which is formed to the shape of the body without hinges and has integrated parts, like integrated front and back parts, is also known. A protective panel like that only suits for use in bulletproof vests of people of certain size because of its standard form.
In order to avoid these disadvantages a new front and back panel, which is adapted to the body, consisting of adjacent protective sheets is developed and a bulletproof vest is formed of them with the help of which an essential improvement is achieved in relation to the previous solutions. Characteristic for the bulletproof vest according to the invention is the fact that said adjacent pieces of protective sheets are joined next to each other with a butt connection in a way that a butt connection hinge is preferably at the angle of 30-60° when it is at a diagonal angle and that an overlapping protective skirting belongs to the outside of the butt connection hinge the thickness of which is thinner than the actual protective sheets.
The advantage of the bulletproof vest according to the invention is the fact that front and back panels which are formed of its separate parts of sheet can easily be formed according to different shapes of bodies, the hinges between the protective sheets are equal in relation to their protectiveness with the other areas of the panel and there will not be very much thickening at the hinge areas in relation to the thickness of the other areas. The solution is easy to implement with the help of actual protective sheets of uniform thickness.
In the following the invention will be described more detailed by referring to the accompanying drawing in which
A front panel which is formed of separate protective sheets of the bulletproof vest according to the invention which have been pressed into their form is shown in the
A panel which is meant for the back side of the body is shown in the
Only the parts of the panel of the front and the back side which can be formed and can be used inside the bullet proof vest are shown in the figures. The pats of the panel are additionally covered with an external protective covering fabric, fabrics and/or plastic coverings which are made in a form of a panel so that parts of the sheet and hinge skirtings 5 stay in place when they move in relation to the central part 2 or 6.
Claims
