BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This wig swim cap invention relates to wig and swim cap products. Nothing like this product has been found in my search. The wig swim cap is exclusively used as a swimming cap.

Swimmer's caps were made of rubberized products in the 20th century. By the 1920's they were made of latex. During the 1940's swim caps became scarce because the rubber was needed for war materials. Modern caps are made of silicone, latex and lycra. During the 1950's decorated caps became vogue with colorful flower petals. Today, caps come in various colors and prints. Many swim caps have been manufactured but none with the aesthetic principle of hair attached.

Wig hair products are usually made of a wide variety of manufacturing styles, shapes, and materials. The wigs are usually permeable and meant to be worn for extended periods of time. This invention is not like conventional wigs because it not meant to replace, or add to real hair for extended wear.

In particular my invention involves the combination of two products which are a swim cap and a styled wig that keeps its shape in heat and water. The purpose of this product is to protect the hair like a conventional swim cap and give an aesthetic appearance of hair while swimming. The wig part is attached or made one with the swim cap. The wig or hair piece of the product is the aesthetic part.

The wig portion will have hair memory which requires no styling or maintenance.

It is a combination of “swim cap” and “wig.” My invention could also be related to a “hair care” product due to its purpose of protection of color treated, chemically altered hair or regular hair. The impermeable swim cap under the attached hair keeps the pool's chemicals from interacting with the person's natural hair and scalp. Most important is that the aesthetic wig hair part of the design keeps its shape even when wet.

SUMMARY OF INVENTION

A wig swimming cap with the purpose of providing an aesthetic hair appearance while covering and protecting the hair during the enjoyment of water sports.

Today's life style of the baby boomers want to exercise without stress to their joints and many have turned to water sports as the solution. Unfortunately, because of the almost certain probability of hair damage due to the chemicals in water, there is a need to protect the hair in water. Another concern is looking ridiculous in the flower swim cap or the conventional rubber egg head look. The solutions to these problems have lead to my invention with two objectives. Objection one of my invention is to provide a covering for the protection of the hair in water which is the swim cap portion. Objection two of my invention is to provide a fashionable, durable, aesthetic appearance which is the wig hair style portion.

FIG. 2. Hair and cap side view showing (a) top wig part and (b) swim cap bottom layer

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

FIG. 1 (a) and (b) is a perspective view showing alignment of the cap with the superimposed hair piece or wig. FIG. 1 (a) and (b) also shows the invention concept consisting of two layers: namely the swim cap protective portion and the hair wig portion. The cap or the bottom layer (b) of the drawing will be constructed but not limited to silicone, latex, rubber, polyurethane, neoprene, or lycra material . The “wig” portion or top (a) will most likely, but not limited to, be constructed of artificial hair which have been conventionally made by using fibrous forms such as polyester, rayon, and cotton. Other known hair like materials that can be used are composed of carbon fiber or fine thread forms of various materials such as plastic or rubber. In the case of the hair wig part (a) it can be fabricated of substationally any wig material. However, it is anticipated that it will be a network of non-absorption materials that hold their shape when exposed to elements of heat and chemicals in water. The main purpose of the hair type or composition of hair materials used for the wig (a) will be to maintain its original shape without relaxation in water

Using a hair memory wig (a) will also ensure the best representation of different hairstyles. Most desirable as explained are synthetic fibers, easily manufactured and of low cost. This will allow for different hair colors, shapes, styles, and lengths. Another important aspect of the base of the hair wig part is that it is flexible allowing for the cap to be affixed to the wig part and stretch with it.

The stretchable cap (b) enables the user to put the cap on and tuck all of one's natural hair inside. The swim cap and wig plurality of design is manufactured in a manner that the wig component (a) is affixed or super imposed to a rubber swim cap (b).

The wig is securely mounted to or made one with the cap. The sealing can be achieved by, but not limited to, chemical bonding, elastic gules or adhesives where compression or pressure causes the adhesive agents to become one with the wig part. The structure of the elastic cap (b) could also be a stretchable independent agent attached to the wig part (a). The concept is that the embodiment include a wig fitting component and a swim cap component acting as one entity.

The wig swim cap covers the entire head. The wig fitting component (a) when stuck on the swim cap (b) is flexible and natural looking. The color of the cap (b) will be of a natural skin tones. The cap base (b) will also allow for different hair consistencies to fit under the cap. This stretch ability is essential to the ease of using the product over one's own hair. It is understood that regardless of the manufacturing, the internal support or cap (b) must enable a close flexible fit that protects the natural hair from elements of water damage. Therefore, the combination hair swim cap provides a snug and natural looking means of wearing a protective hair piece while swimming.

Having an elastic nature the standard size of one size fits all will be to the average scalp size This single unique cap size covers a large market thereby making it cost effective.

The aforementioned description represents the best mode contemplated in manufacturing my invention. My invention, is however, susceptible to modifications and alternate constructions from the embodiments shown and described in the drawings. Consequently, it is not the intention to limit the invention to the particular embodiments disclosed. On the contrary, the invention is intended and shall cover all modifications, sizes, and alternate construction falling within the concept, idea, or purpose of this new invention. The embodiments described for manufacturing this invention are for the purpose of trial and error of the different methods of preferred manufacturing. This invention is not meant for permanent or prolonged hair replacement or to be worn for extended periods of time therefore adding to the uniqueness of its purpose.
