Holder for wrapping paper

Abstract

A dispenser for wrapping paper. The dispenser for wrapping paper comprising a pair of stands, each stand comprising a base section and a holder section. The base section has at least one, preferably four stability supports. The holder section is angled relative to the base section and has at least one, preferably four, substantially J-shaped notches sized for receiving and holding ends of tubed wrapping paper.

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to the field of dispensers for wrapping paper. Specifically, to a multi-piece set of stands that holds and dispenses wrapping paper.

BACKGROUND

Gift wrap organizers are known in the prior art. More specifically, gift wrap organizers previously devised and utilized are known to consist basically of familiar, expected and obvious structural configurations, notwithstanding the myriad of designs encompassed by the crowded prior art that have been developed for the fulfillment of countless objectives and requirements.

Known prior art includes stands that use dowels to hold at least one wrapping paper tube in either horizontal or vertical configurations and stands that have closed apertures through which the ends of the wrapper tubes may be inserted.

While these devices fulfill their respective, particular objectives and requirements, the aforementioned patents do not disclose the instant new gift wrapping dispenser.

In these respects, the gift wrapping dispenser according to the present invention substantially departs from the conventional concepts and designs of the prior art, and in so doing provides an apparatus primarily developed for the purpose of dispensing wrapping paper and gift wrapping accessories.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is an object of the present invention to provide a dispenser for wrapping paper.

It is another object of the present invention to provide a dispenser for wrapping paper comprising at least a pair of stands, each stand comprising a base section and a holder section.

It is yet another object of the present invention to provide a wrapping paper dispenser stand having a base section, wherein the base section has at least one, preferably four stability supports.

It is still yet another object of the present invention to provide a wrapping paper dispenser stand having a holder section, wherein the holder section is angled relative to the base section and has at least one, preferably four, substantially J-shaped notches for holding ends of tubed wrapping paper.

The invention itself, however, both as to its structure and its operation together with the additional object and advantages thereof will best be understood from the following description of the preferred embodiment of the present invention when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings. Unless specifically noted, it is intended that the words and phrases in the specification and claims be given the ordinary and accustomed meaning to those of ordinary skill in the applicable art or arts. If any other meaning is intended, the specification will specifically state that a special meaning is being applied to a word or phrase.

DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The present invention is useful for dispensing wrapping paper, such as holiday wrapping paper.

With reference to the figures, the present invention is a dispenser for wrapping paper, generally referred to as 1. The dispenser 1 comprises at least two stands 5. Each stand 5 comprises a base section 10 and a holder section 20.

Each base section 10 comprises a generally thin vertical section 12 and at least one horizontal stability support 30, preferably two, more preferably four. Each horizontal support 30 extends perpendicular to the vertical section 12, parallel to a surface upon which the stand 5 would rest and are located on an edge that will be adjacent the surface upon which the stand will rest. In an alternate embodiment, at least one, preferably two, notches 28 may be formed into the upper portion of the base section 10, sized for receiving and holding ends of tubed wrapping paper.

It is important to the present invention that these notches be open and not closed apertures. This feature allows for easy access and replacement of the wrapping paper tubes. If closed apertures were used, an inordinate amount of time would be required to thread the ends of the wrapping paper tubes into each aperture in each stand.

Each holder section 20 comprises a holder body 25 that is positioned at an acute angle relative to the base section 10, preferably between 45° and 90°. The holder body 25 further includes at least one, preferably two, more preferably three and most preferably four substantially J-shaped notches 26 sized for receiving and holding ends of tubed wrapping paper.

Around the periphery of each stand 5 may be a lip 27. This lip 27 is useful for ornamentality and rigidity, as well as receiving and holding the horizontal stability supports 30.

The preferred horizontal stability support 30 is a slidably mountable, generally flat rectangular piece 32, though other shapes may be used and still fall within the scope of the present invention. Located on a top surface 34 of the rectangular piece 32 is a raised volume 36 containing an edge receiving channel 38. The preferred outline of the edge receiving channel 38 is an inverted “T” shape, having a horizontal section and a vertical section, preferably centered on the horizontal section. The horizontal section received the lip 27 and the vertical section receives a portion of the base piece 10. When using this form of horizontal stability support 30, there should be a notch in the lip 27 sufficiently large to receive the horizontal stability support 30, thereby allowing it to mate to the bottom part, and lip, of the base section 10. Inside of the edge receiving channel 38 is a raised pip 39 used to provide frictional contact with the vertical section 12.

By using separate slidably mounted horizontal stability supports 30, the stand 5 is collapsible for virtually 2-dimensional storage and shipment.

Alternatively, the horizontal stability support 30 may be permanently attached to the base piece 20 by adhesives, integral formation, or other like means common in the industry. In an alternate embodiment utilizing one horizontal stability support 30, the support 30 may be located on either side of the vertical base section. In another alternate embodiment having two horizontal stability supports 30, both supports 30 may be located on the same side (cis to each other) or they may be located on opposite sides of the vertical section 12 (trans to each other). In yet another alternate embodiment having four horizontal stability supports 30, it is preferred that two are located on one side of the vertical section 12 and the remaining two are located on the opposite side of the vertical support 12. Embodiments have three or more horizontal supports 30 may be located on any of the various combinations of sides and still fall within the scope of the present invention.

Preferably, the stands 5 are injection molded using a suitably rigid plastic. Other, materials, such as wood, metal, composites, laminates and the like may be used and still fall within the scope of the present invention.

The preferred embodiment of the invention is described above in the Drawings and Description of Preferred Embodiments. While these descriptions directly describe the above embodiments, it is understood that those skilled in the art may conceive modifications and/or variations to the specific embodiments shown and described herein. Any such modifications or variations that fall within the purview of this description are intended to be included therein as well. Unless specifically noted, it is the intention of the inventor that the words and phrases in the specification and claims be given the ordinary and accustomed meanings to those of ordinary skill in the applicable art(s). The foregoing description of a preferred embodiment and best mode of the invention known to the applicant at the time of filing the application has been presented and is intended for the purposes of illustration and description. It is not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise form disclosed, and many modifications and variations are possible in the light of the above teachings. The embodiment was chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application and to enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention in various embodiments and with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated.

Claims

1. A dispenser for tubed paper comprising at least two stands, each stand comprising a base section and a holder section, each base section comprising a vertical section and at least one horizontal stability support attached to the vertical section on a peripheral edge and substantially parallel to a surface upon which each stand would rest, each holder section comprising a holder body attached to the base section and position at an acute angle relative to the base section and at least one substantially J-shaped notches sized to receive and hold an end of tubed paper.

2. The dispenser according to claim 1 wherein each horizontal stability support is slidably mountable and comprising a generally flat piece, located on a top surface of the flat piece is a raised volume containing an edge receiving channel and the base section includes at least a portion of a lip.

3. The dispenser according to claim 2 wherein the edge receiving channel has an inverted “T” outline.
