Freedom work station/bench (adjustable)

The Freedom Work Bench/Station is designed to enable people with and without challenges, to work at the best of their ability. The bench is strong (2000#), adjustable (24″-36″), changed into a workstation to meet the needs of 1 person. It's designed for work on either side of the bench at the same time. The bench is either left or right handed or both. There is a sliding carriage unit on the lower frame that has 4-1300# rollers that can be used for tools or test equipment when fit with a pedestal. Wires and tubes can be run through this tube. Seat and footrest can be installed on the pedestal (all adjustable). It can be disassembled and moved through a small opening/doorway (2′) and reassembled. All together this makes for a unique work system.

Description
BACKGROUND INFORMATION FOR THE FREEDOM WORK STATION/BENCH

The work station is made of box tube welded. The legs are spy glassing where one (1) tube slides inside the other. Holes are drilled at 2″ intervals on the bottom leg. Two (2) holes are on the top part of the leg allowing the top of the station to move up and down 12″ one inch at a time (FIGS. 1.1; 1.2; 1.3; 1.4).

The legs are welded together parallel by the box beams (4) even with the top (FIG. 1.6) and up to 7″ from the floor. The side legs are 2 feet apart.

The front and back beams are welded in the same position only they hold the legs parallel 6-12″ apart. Pads are welded on the bottom of the legs for mounting to the floor.

The top of the work station (FIG. 1.10) will have holes cut in it over the open part of the leg pocket. The top is bolted on so it can be changed.

The leg pocket will be utilized by taking a piece of small leg tube and welding a mounting plate on top then inserting it and clamping it with a jack bolt mounted on the side of the leg. By utilizing the bracket (FIG. 1.11) and the changeable plates and using one (1) or more of the other pockets these tools can be installed but are not limited to the following:

Hydraulic pumps (hydraulic-air- Tool tracks electric-hand operated) Shelving Pulling brackets or pushing Spring arm magnifiers blocks between pockets Bench mount hole punches Well mounted cranes (hydraulic- (hand-electric-hydraulic) air-electric-hand operated) Bench type arbor press (hand- Frames for holding back stops electric-hydraulic) and side stops Bench mounted press brake Power strips Bench mounted notchers Telephone jacks Crimping machines Air or test ports Hydraulic metal worker Pull mounted lights Tool boxes Bin boxes 2-6 drawer tool chests (standard Tool racks capacity) Peg board Small wire feed welder Base mounted tweezers Mixers and blenders Pneumatic squeeze action Bench top band saw riveter Jig saw Button snap bench press Scroll Saw Spot welder Bullet press and crimpers Sausage stuffer (hand-electric) Reloading Equipment (hand- Meat grinder electric)

The bottom part of the work station is equipped with a truck-trolley mounted between the 2 long beams. The track is welded or bolted to the inside of both beams. By using cam follower bearings, track or trolley wheels, or lineal bearings the trolley will simply flow back and forth the full length of the work station (6-20′). Which bearings are used depends on the load and ease of travel. The bearings or wheels are mounted on 2 angle irons welded/bolted to a received tube that rides in the track. The receiver is ¼″below the lower long beam.

The seat bracket (FIG. 2.7) and foot rest (FIG. 2.9) are placed into the receiver tube. The seat bracket and foot rest are adjustable by sliding the bracket in and out of the receiver tube. The seat is mounted so it will move up and down on the bracket. The work station can now be adjusted for the user. The top can be moved up or down, the seat can be moved in, out, up and down. Now the user can move freely left to right either by hand or power assisted. The seat bracket is hollow so power cables can run through the center allowing wheel chair type controls to be used.

Claims

1) Freedom Bench/Station consists of a two (2)-piece welded box tube. The top section 6 has 4 vertical box tubes connected by two box horizontal members for length and 2 horizontal members for width. The lower section 5 which fits into the upper frame box section (spy-glassing) and is connected by 4 vertical box tubes connected by two box horizontal members for length and 2 horizontal member for width. The top section 6 is movable up or down. On the lower section 5 6 holes are drilled two inches apart into lower vertical tubes and 2 holes are drilled in the upper vertical tubes on all four vertical tubes. This will allow adjustment up to 12 inches, one inch at a time.

2) Top section 6 of the bench vertical member will be exposed through the holes cut in the bench top. Allowing the opening to become a receiver for the tool bracket 11. Consisting of a short piece of box tubing that is the same size as the lower vertical tube. A plate is welded horizontally allowing for tools for equipment to be welded or bolted. The short tube is locked into place with a jack bolt 4 that is threaded into the top outside of all four vertical members. This will allow movement of the small vertical tube into all of the vertical top frame members in all 4 directions (left, right, front, back).

3) The lower half of the bench body 5 horizontal beams has a welded guide rail on both inside faces one on the top and one on the bottom mounted full length. The upper guide has an inverted angle forming a V shaped guide track. The one on the lower position is just a flat angle. A carriage unit with four guide rollers 16 has two rollers 13 to follow the V groove on the lower angle track and two flat track rollers 14 to guide on the flat angle. This allows the carriage unit to roll the full length of the bench on the horizontal beam. On the bottom of the carriage unit running between the two sets of rollers in the direction of the width beam which becomes a receiver for a pedestal 15. The pedestal 8 slides in and out of the lower receiver 15 for in and out adjustment. The pedestal 8 is normally a 90-degree tube that will hold test equipment, toolboxes, stools and seats 7. The pedestal 8 is hollow and allows for wires and tubes to run with the carriage unit. By controlling the height of the bench, being able to have tools or attachments left or right front or back installing platforms or footrests 9 that move right to left and in or out this makes for a work/station system.
