Description

Street resurfacing is complicated by the myriad manholes that are necessitated for inspection and maintenance of the sewage systems and underground utilities. In most cases the elevation of the newly paved street and other road surfaces are at variance with formerly installed manholes. This condition is frequently left neglected due to time limitations and construction expense.

A second condition is created when the task of repairing a roadway is undertaken. When the plan is begun there is before the engineer, and eventually the paving contractor, the challenge of maintaining the new grade at the points of manholes. As a solution the B-W Manhole Cover-Cover was developed. It is a duplicate of the standard manhole cover only it is made of 65-75 durometer recycled rubber.

To install, align the vent holes and use toggle bolts and fender washers to affix. The Cover-Cover should be just slightly below grade after installation. This will provide a smooth ride for drivers, and it will permit snow plowing without damage in the winter months.

This is a permanent solution. After installation it is maintenance-free. The benefits of the Cover-Cover consist of ease of storage for stocking, ease and speed of installation, minimal traffic downtime during installation, and a great improvement of public relations for the governmental entity, thanks to smoother, safer roadways.
