BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

My mother was 62 and with age, as a lot of women when they get to that age, began to develop a hump/hunch causing pain and aching due to weak muscles in the shoulders and neck (Trapezius muscle). I have been in health, fitness and training my whole life and wanted to help my mother strengthen her back muscles, so I devised an exercise plan using weights, my mother found that she couldn't remember the exercises and the exercises she did remember she was performing incorrectly which could lead to an injury and yet more anguish, so after much thought I came up with the idea of a curved machine which she couldn't cheat an exercise and wouldn't forget the movement, I then realised once I made her a machine from wood that this could be used to train the whole body.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Body Boomerang is an exercise machine which will train various body parts in a full range of motion, women can use it to tone problem areas, men can use it to build muscle, elderly people can use it for posture control and to maintain flexibility which is lost through age, and finally patients can use it to rehabilitate. The machine is light and can be folded for easy storage, the risk of injury is low due to not having to pick up heavy objects and cheating exercise. Body Boomerang fixes your body to follow its own natural contour, making it safe and effective in toning and building muscles, tendons and ligaments.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING

An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings in which:

FIG. 1, shows the machine standing up so you can see the main structure 1, which will be made out of strong plastic which has seven plastic rollers 2, (which will spin when the bands 3, move over them) which will result in a fluid action.

FIG. 2, is the machine flat on the floor so you can see that the handles 5, which run along a grooved track 4, with the handles 5, which have roller bearings top and bottom for smooth action.

FIG. 3, which is a drawing of the handle 5, which is made of plastic and has roller bearings, top and bottom 6.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

It is an exercise machine which will train your lower and upper pecs, lats, traps, deltoids, biceps, triceps, inner and outer thighs and glutes.

It is curved which allows your body to train in a natural curve which allows optimum range which trains your muscles really extensively.

It has different coloured bands (which are different strengths) which you connect to the machine with hooks which can change the resistance for different exercises and individual people, depending how strong you are, if you have trained before or are just starting out, and if you are a man or women etc.

You set the machine up with the bands in different positions depending on what body part you are training e.g. lats, rear delts, outer thighs, traps and biceps, the handles are set to the middle of the machine and pulled out, and triceps, pecs (lower and upper), shoulders, inner thighs and glutes, the handles are set to the outer of the machine and pulled in. You hold the machine in different ways when you train different body parts, you hold it over your head to train your shoulders, out in front of you to train your chest (also you can have it slightly higher for upper chest and slightly lower for lower chest), and the same with back, however the bands will be set differently to a pulling or pushing movement, then you have the machine on the floor on its end so you can do arms, again either a pulling or pushing movement depending whether you are doing biceps or triceps, then you can place it on the floor so that you can do your thighs (inner and outer) where you put your feet in both ends of the machine with the handles and connect your feet to the handles with velcro strips, and let your feet and legs curve round the machine again changing the bands to either a pulling or pushing action. Also you can train your glutes by laying on your side, and placing one foot (top leg) into a handle, by using the velcro straps, and the other foot tucked under one of the end rollers so you are steady, and moving the foot which is attached to the handle back and forth along the curve of the machine.

The way the machine works is that anyone can pick up the machine, and be able to use it correctly without being able to cheat, as you will be automatically set in the correct position because of the curve. It has a very smooth action, due to using bearings that are attached to the handles in a sliding track, so this eliminates jerking or any kind of awkwardness.

To use the invention is to strengthen, tone, rehabilitate muscles, tendons and ligaments on various parts of the body by training those muscles through a full range of motion. To follow the curve of the machine is to copy the natural curve of motion of the human body. Whenever the human body is to move, whether it's a leg or arms pulled across the chest (as to hug someone), or an arm bending at the elbow, all these movements move in a curve from the pivot point to the end of the extension of the limb, so only the muscle at the pivot point will take the load/strain, thus for eliminating cheating therefore enhancing the maximum training effect to the muscle being trained.

The machine is made up of two large curved segments in different colours e.g. pink, blue, black and clear with inset metallic fragments, using injection moulded plastics, these segments will have an inset track in which two handles will run in, the handles use bearings which will create a smooth running action, the two segments are held apart by six inches with rollers running across the full back, the rollers are made from spindles with a plastic sleeve.
