HAT HANGING SYSTEM

Abstract

The present invention relates to a hat storage system comprising: a cord; a plurality of receivers attached to the cord, where the plurality of receivers provide a means to store a hat; an anchor end, where the anchor end attaches to one of end of the cord; and a retriever end where said retriever end provides a means to retract the cord for storage thereon. The cord may hang horizontally when extended from the retriever and the anchor is fixedly attached to a wall. The plurality of receivers may include either a group of hook receivers or a group of clip receivers or both.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of Invention

The present invention relates to the convenient hanging device for a hat/cap storage apparatus.

2. Description of Related Art

Hats and caps are a common accessory for many individuals wardrobe. Usually someone may own multiple hats or caps and consequently need to provide a means for storing them when they are not being worn. Some individuals may store hats/caps in a closet on a shelf or even perhaps in a drawer. Under either method the hats/caps are not visible and may require an individual to search for a hat when he or she desires to wear a particular hat. Also hat/caps may be damaged if stored in a stacked manner or stuffed into a drawer. Some individuals may want to display their hat collection for vanity purposes or desire to store the hats in an open and easily accessible manner.

Some prior art exists that addresses hat/cap storage that provides apparatuses for storage thereof. In particular, U.S. Pat. No. 7,040,517 discloses a hat-hanging device that includes a bungee cord type device with a plurality of hat hanging clips attached to the cord. The cord may be placed across an object and hung vertically or both ends may be hung where the cord hangs horizontally.

Another example of a hat hanging apparatus and method includes U.S. Pat. No. 6,161,703, which discloses an apparatus to hold and display hats. The '703 patent discloses a mounting plate that can be mounted to the ceiling or an elevated point on a wall which includes a plurality of flexible cords that extend from the mounting plate.

Although the prior provides some solutions it remains conceivable that various methods exist to expand upon the prior art to enable the user to have even more options to provide more innovative hat/cap storage solutions.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a hat storage system comprising: a cord; a plurality of receivers attached to the cord, where the plurality of receivers provide a means to store a hat; an anchor end, where the anchor end attaches to one of end of the cord; and a retriever end where said retriever end provides a means to retract the cord for storage thereon. The cord may hang horizontally when extended from the retriever and the anchor is fixedly attached to a wall. The plurality of receivers may include either a group of hook receivers or a group of clip receivers or both. Each of the plurality of receivers may include a loop attachment that provides a means to attach the receiver to the cord. Each hook receiver includes a hook stem and a hook, where the hook may receive an opening of a hat while the hat hangs upon the hook. Each clip receiver includes a clip stem and a clip, where the clip receives a hat for attachment thereto.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present invention provides a hat hanging system that provides an organized manner to store hats/caps and allows an individual display the hats openly. The present invention includes a wall hanger 12 and a spool retriever 14 which are depicted in FIG. 1. The spool retriever 14 contains and holds a retractable cord 15, which attaches to the wall anchor 12. A push lock 14a is provided within the spool retriever 14 that provides a means to lock the cord 15 at a desired length. The cord 15 may be extended horizontally or substantially horizontal to allow the hanging of hats thereon. The present invention further includes a plurality of hook receivers 16 and a plurality of clip receivers 18. Both the hook receivers 16 and clip receivers 18 include an attachment loop 13, which attaches the respective receivers onto the cord 15. Although a combination of clip receivers 16 and hook receivers 18 are depicted in FIG. 1, the present invention may be used with exclusively hook or clip receivers as desired by the user.

The hook receiver includes a hook stem 17 and a hook 17a. The hook stem 17 extends vertically from the attachment loop 13. The hook receiver may be used with a hat/cap that has an opening that allows the hook 17a to receive the hat for hanging purposes. Once the hat is placed upon the hook 17a, the hat hangs freely and securely on the hook receiver. Alternatively for hats that do not have an opening that may readily receive hook 17a, these hats may be then placed upon a clip receiver. The clip receivers 18 include a clip 19a and a clip stem 19. A clip stem 19 extends from attachment loop 13 vertically and at the opposite end a clip 19a is provided to clip a hat upon for hanging purposes.

The wall anchor 12 may be anchored upon a wall either permanently or at least firmly fixed for hanging purposes. It is conceived that the cord 15 may be extended to a desired length based upon the number of hats that are suspended upon the cord. The hat hanging system according to the present invention therefore allows for a various number of hats to be hung upon a cord based upon the length thereof and the number of receivers available for hats. So if an individual has a smaller hat collection this cord may be extended to a shorter length than for larger hat collections that may be extended to a longer length to accommodate the appropriate number of receivers and provide a means for the desired number of hats. The spool retriever 14 retracts the cord 15 as desired by the user and may be locked at the desired length using lock 14a.

The cord 15 may be hung in a taunt position where the line is substantially horizontal or at a taunt angle as desired by the user. However the user may allow some slack in the cord for the hats to hang in a more U-shaped position. The hat hanging system according to present invention may be placed upon a wall or possibly on a door closet either on the outside or inside of the door. The hat hanging system according to present invention therefore provides a very flexible, simple and unique means for hat storage and display.

The hook receivers and clip receivers according to the present invention may be manufactured of metal or plastic materials that have sufficient strength and flexibility to hold the hats in place. The attachment loops 13 attach to the cord where they can be easily removed and attached as desired by the user. The hat hanging system may be removed from a wall and stored completely by the removal of the plurality of receivers and the retraction of the cord into the spool retriever 14. The hat hanging system consequently provides a means for one to organize and display hats as desired and eliminates the need for any closet or drawer storage of the individual's hat.

Claims

1. A hat storage system comprising:

a. a cord;

b. a plurality of receivers attached to the cord, where said plurality of receivers provide a means to store a hat;

c. an anchor end, where the anchor end attaches to one of end of the cord; and

d. a retriever end where said retriever end provides a means to retract the cord for storage thereon.

2. The hat storage system according to claim 1, wherein the cord may hang horizontally when extended from the retriever and the anchor is fixedly attached to a wall.

3. The hat storage system according to claim 1, wherein the plurality of receivers includes at least one of a group of hook receivers and a group of clip receivers.

4. The hat storage system according to claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of receivers includes a loop attachment that provides a means to attach the receiver to the cord.

5. The hat storage system according to claim 3, where each hook receiver includes a hook stem and a hook, where said hook receives an opening of a hat while the hat hangs upon the hook.

6. The hat storage system according to claim 3, where each clip receiver includes a clip stem and a clip, where said clip receives a hat for attachment thereto.

7. The hat storage system according to claim 1, wherein the anchor end is permanently fixed to a wall.
