Description

This application claims benefits of the provisional application No. 61/170,249 (confirmation number 3054) files on Apr. 17, 2009.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This invention is related to a multiple purpose handbag hanger, which is particularly suitable for hanging multiple handbags/purses and the like somewhat bulky and heavy items in suspension. The subject of this invention is generally categorized in US Patent Office Classes 211 and 233.

There are a few existing multiple handbag hangers on the market. One type has multiple holders on a one-hook hanger that is hung directly on a closet rod. This kind of hanger tilts when the weight is not evenly distributed on the hanger. The other type of handbag hangers consists a single file of multiple holders connected with a vertical belt and a clip at the top of the belt so that this handbag hanger can be hung over a door. However, when the space between a door and its frame is not wide enough to accommodate the clip, the door cannot be closed properly. Further, this kind of hanger is also not suitable for sliding and/or folding doors.

Therefore, there remains a need for a handbag hanger that can hold multiple handbags, purses or the likes in one such device which also can be used in home closets, coffeehouses, restaurants, bars, etc, to accommodate the existing standard shelf configurations in North America. In addition, this invention can also be used in garages or other spaces with fixed wire and/or board shelves for any suspendables to better organize the space.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A multiple purpose handbag hanger for handbags or the likes is disclosed. This hanger can be hung under a shelf stably. This hanger includes multiple holders on which multiple handbags are hung securely, a horizontal connecting rod to which these holders are connected with, and a pair of extension chains linked between the rod and two hanging devices. The two hanging devices feature a pair of C-shaped hooks which allow the hanger be hung under a wire shelf or a pair of U-shaped clips which allow the hanger be hung under a board shelf stably, respectively. These wire or board shelves are standard fixtures in a closet or garage commonly seen in North America. In addition, the types of hanging devices allow the hanger be moved at will to any position on the shelf. Also, such two-point hanging feature provides an advantage or flexibility over when only one holder is used. In the event only one handbag is needed to be hung at one end of the hanger, the hanger will not be tilted. Furthermore, this feature allows one hand operation so one can hang or remove a bag with a little effort, without disturbing adjacent hanging items. The two-point hanging feature also provides the potential to expand vertically to two or more tiers of the hangers to maximize the usage of the closet space.

In summary, the present invention is a uniquely designed multiple purpose handbag hanger with the capability to hang multiple handbags or other suspendables at the same time. This invention provides a novel and easy-to-use handbag hanger, which is simple in structure and easy to manufacture. It also helps people to organize their suspendables in their closets and garages at home, and to exhibit samples in a commercial event. The hanger is removable for easy storage.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a front view of the multiple purpose handbag hanger with C-shaped hooks;

FIG. 2 is a front view of the multiple purpose handbag hanger with U-shaped clips;

FIG. 3 is a perspective and close view of the U-shaped clip.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The preferred embodiments may be understood by referring to FIG. 1 to FIG. 3, which depict front views and perspective views of the multiple purpose handbag hanger. FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 depict the front views of the hanger with C-shaped hooks and U-shaped clips, respectively. FIG. 3 depicts the perspective and close view of the U-shaped clip.

The present invention relates to hangers, in particular relates to the purpose of hanging multiple handbags and the likes somewhat bulky and heavy suspendables. This multiple purpose handbag hanger can be used as an addition to existing standard wire and board shelf systems in North America. The hanger includes multiple holders 4 on which multiple handbags and suspendables are hung securely, a horizontal connecting rod 5 to which these holders 4 are connected with, and a pair of vertical extension chains 6 which connect the rod 5 at one end and a hanging device C-shaped hook 7 or U-shaped clip 10 at the other end. The hanging devices featuring a pair of C-shaped hooks 7 allow the hanger being hung under a wire shelf, or featuring a pair of U-shaped clips 10 allow the hanger being hung under a board shelf stably, respectively. To save space, the asymmetrically designed hanger can be hung under a shelf perpendicular in relationship to a back wall with end 8 pointing out and end 9 toward the wall. These wire and board shelves are standard fixtures in a closet or a garage commonly seen in North America. This removable hanger is an addition to existing shelf systems and will not interfere with door configurations or other structures.

The hanger with two C-shaped hooks 7 (FIG. 1) is suitable to a standard wire shelf. People just simply hook up the C-shaped hooks 7 to any horizontal wire within the wire shelf. The hanger with two U-shaped clips 10 (FIG. 2) is suitable to a standard board shelf. The clips 10 also contain one elastic plate spring 11 built in at one side of each of the clips 10 to accommodate different thickness of a board so that the clips 10 will not slip. The detailed construction can be viewed in FIG. 3.

The above disclosed multiple purpose handbag hanger can be made from metal, plastic, or similar materials and their combinations. Also, the handbag hanger can be made in different colors or coatings at will or as needed. The C-shaped hooks 7 and U-shaped clips 10 are all swivelable for all directions. Such secure means by using C-shaped hooks 7 or U-shaped clips 10 will not damage the shelf under which the hanger is hung. Based on the similar design, other secure means or constructions might be possible with any conventional method. Moreover, the extension chain 6, including made from rigid wire, can have any designs and shapes, and be made in any lengths. The sizes and shapes of the holders 4, and the numbers of the holders 4 under the connecting rod 5 might be varied according to different situations. Furthermore, the holders 4 and the connecting rod 5 are one body construction and the orientations of these holders 4 can be constructed in any directions. The extension chains 6 are fixed onto the connecting rod 5 with any conventional means, and their positions on the rod 5 can be altered to accommodate needs. Further, the holders 4, the connecting rod 5, the chains 6, and the hanging devices, C-shaped hooks 7 or U-shaped clips 10, can be made into one-body constructions. The numbers of the elastic plate spring 11 and its shape and construction harbored in the U-shaped clips 10 also can be modified to meet a specific set of needs.

The present invention is to support multiple handbags and other suspendables in suspension under wire and board shelves. The above-disclosed invention has been described in detail as a preferred embodiment. However, it is to be understood that the disclosed embodiment is merely the exemplary of the invention that may be embodied in various forms, construction, and arrangements of the elements without departing from the ideas and principles of the present invention in light of the foregoing description.
