No sweat

The “NO SWEAT” device is an absorbent device designed for use with a head cover to prevent the flow of perspiration onto the face of the user and primarily intended to keep perspiration out of the eyes of the wearer. It was conceived as a product for people engaged in outdoor activities in hot weather conditions such as sports activities. It may also be useful to people who work under hot lighting conditions or stressful conditions as may be found in hospital operating rooms or by troops operating in high temperature areas when the removal of their helmets may constitute a danger of exposure under fire. The device also provides protection from sweat stains to the head covering. This device contains an absorbent material which can absorb as much as 200 times it's volume and lock it into the surrounding material. We know of no other product currently on the market to do what this device is designed to do.

Description

We claim priority for provisional patent application 651/137,943 , filed Aug. 6, 2008. Confirmation number 2448.

The “NO SWEAT” is a construct of cloth and plastic material containing an absorbent material (sodium polyacrylate) to trap perspiration within the device so as to inhibit the flow of perspiration onto the face and into the eyes of the user.

The device has a polycarbonate base strip with an adhesive strip on the outer surface to facilitate attachment to the inner front band of a head cover (hat, cap helmet or other head gear). There are five (5) layers of gauze material containing ⅛ ounce of sodium polyacrylate between the first and second layers of gauze and between the second and third layers of gauze. The gauze is bonded to the polycarbonate base with an adhesive conforming to ASTM-4236. This is covered by the muslin strip which wraps around the construct and fastens to the polycarbone base at all four exterior edges with an adhesive conforming to ASTM-4236.

DESCRIPTION OF CONSTRUCTION DRAWING

Item 1: Adhesive transfer tape 6038PC manufactured by 3M products (8″×1″) Attaches to Item 2 on the exterior surface, centered on the base strip.

Item 2 10 mil polycarbonate base strip (8″×1½″)

Item 3 cheese cloth material (8″×1½″) five layers Layer five attached to Item 2 with an adhesive conforming to ASTM D 4236 Layer 4 & 3 lay on top of layer 5.

⅛ ounce of Sodium polyacrylate in powder form is sprinkled on layer 3 and is covered by layer 2.

⅛ ounce of Sodium polyacrylate in powder form is sprinkled on layer 2 and is covered by layer 1.

Item 4 Muslin outer cover (9″×2⅛″) is centered on the cheese cloth strip #1 and is folded over the cheese cloth layers and attached to the Poly carbonate base strip at all four edges with an adhesive conforming to ASTM D 4236.

This completes to construction of “NO SWEAT”.

Claims

1. We claim the gauze imbedded with Sodium Polyacrylate as a unique property of this device and further, that the Poly Carbonate base that prevents stains to the headgear is also unique to this device.

We claim the gauze imbedded with sodium polyacrylate as a unique property of this device and the polycarbonate base which protects the head gear from moisture stains.
