Description
TECHNICAL FIELD

Embodiments of the invention generally relate to the field of a leg cover that can be applied to a foot or a shoe, such as a low top shoe and an open top shoe. More specifically, the present invention relates to the field of a leg cover that can be applied to a shoe by a bottom-securing strap beneath the outsole of the shoe or applied to a foot by the bottom-securing strap beneath the arch of the foot, wherein the leg cover is footless.

BACKGROUND

What to wear often puzzles many people every day, especially females. Seldom do women think that they do have enough clothes, shoes, and accessories, but some people do not like to spend too much money on this stuff. For example, some females would not buy that many pairs of shoes and boots, and they will buy just several pairs of essential shoes instead, maybe only one pair of boots by reason of the higher cost of boots. However, sometimes it is difficult to find a good match for all the clothes with shoes or boots of a basic style only, and they still desire to dress themselves pleasingly or fashionably. How to match the attire with appropriate shoes is important, particularly on formal occasions, because shoes can make or break an outfit. Accordingly, if the styles of the same pair of shoes can be changed as varied as possible, it will save women a lot of money from buying many different fashion styles of shoes.

Furthermore, a large number of women would like to keep in step with the latest trends, thus varying the fashion style of a given pair being desirable. If each pair is not limited to one fashion style, specifically women's dress shoes, then it is more economical and practical. Besides, many people nowadays often travel a lot, and it is inconvenient to bring many pairs of shoes, especially boots. Nevertheless, there are occasions that require a number of different styles of shoes or boots to pair with different outfits. If merely a limited number of shoe pairs need to be carried while traveling, but various fashion styles of shoes and boots can be performed to match the apparel perfectly, it will be unusually appealing.

Moreover, some people do not live in a big house or a spacious apartment, and there is not enough space to store a large number of shoe pairs, particularly boot pairs which require a larger space for storage. Hence the general idea of rendering a given pair of shoes to have different fashion contents, even transforming into boots, is of great utility.

Referring to United States Patent Application No. 20080229615, it discloses a decorative women's shoe cover made of an elastic fabric and using elastic hem strips to cover a shoe to change its fashion content. Elastic hem strips form an elastic foot opening to match the foot opening of the shoe. Elastic hem strips also form an elastic shank and heel opening extending from the back of the sole member to the heel of the shoe cover. Because of the elastic shank and heel opening, when the shoe is bent by normal walking use, the elastic foot opening will not separate from the shoe foot opening. Also, the shoe cover can be adhered to the shoe in selected places. A boot form is also disclosed. Nonetheless, the shoe cover of this application can be applied to shoes only, not feet, and it is similar to a coating of a shoe; that means it ought to fit the upper and the outsole of the shoe perfectly; otherwise it will look loose and weird. In this way, the shoe cover of this application is able to be applied to several pairs of shoes only, not every pair, of course no sandals or mules included. Furthermore, the bottom of this kind of shoe covers wrapping the front outsole of the shoe will be in contact with the floor, whereby shoe covers can be easily worn out. Besides, the shoe cover needs interengagement to bind to the outer surface of a shoe, and this can be troublesome.

Consequently, this invention provides a sort of leg covers that can be simply and removably applied to a shoe by merely a bottom-securing strap beneath the outsole of the shoe or applied to a foot by the bottom-securing strap beneath the arch of the foot to overcome the deficiency of prior shoe covers, wherein the leg cover may provide the warmth, protection, ankle support, and fashion style as well.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is one object of the present invention to provide a kind of movable addition or removable product, a leg cover, on top of any human feet, low top shoes, or open top shoes to protect against the dust, insects, harm from falling, and to provide warmth around the covered area, and to give ankle support via the ankle-laced area (with the leg cover) and the bottom closure or attachment beneath the arch of a foot or the arc of the bottom of a shoe. The leg cover comprises: an upper portion, extending from the instep and covering at least the ankle; and a stirrup bottom, stemming from the upper portion, stabilizing the upper portion via a bottom-securing strap, and being footless and applied to an existing shoe by the bottom-securing strap beneath the outsole of the shoe or applied to a foot by the bottom-securing strap beneath the arch of the foot.

The aforementioned upper portion and the stirrup bottom can be made of one piece. The bottom-securing strap is removably and easily applied to a foot or the outsole of a shoe.

Furthermore, the upper portion of the leg cover can extend up to the hip or therebetween from the instep, and the stirrup bottom is footless.

Moreover, the bottom-securing strap of the leg cover is removably applied to the outsole of a shoe, and the bottom-securing strap is of various widths corresponding to the size or design of the leg cover. In addition, the bottom-securing strap can be made of one piece; otherwise, the bottom-securing strap may further comprise one or more zippers or the like, one or more shoelaces or the like, one or more laces or the like, the snap closure or the like, one or more buttons or the like, one or more buckles or the like, one or more snap fasteners, the snap closure or the like, similar mechanism, or the combination thereof for mechanically connecting two ends of the bottom-securing strap to form the bottom-securing strap completely beneath the outsole of an existing shoe or beneath the arch of a foot.

It is another object of the present invention to disclose a leg cover further comprising ornamentation, decorations, jeweled embellishments, designs, patterns, cutouts, a zipper or the like, a shoelace or the like, a lace or the like, a strap, a letter strap or the like, the strap closure or the like, a button, a buckle or the like, a snap fastener, the snap closure or the like, the snap flap closure, or the combination thereof on the outer surface of the leg cover.

The leg cover is removably applied to the outsole of a shoe by a bottom-securing strap beneath the outsole of the shoe, wherein the shoe includes open top shoes, low top shoes, high heels, stiletto heels, kitten heels, pumps, d'Orsay pumps, low-heeled shoes, espadrilles, lace-up shoes, Derby shoes, Oxford shoes, Mary Jane shoes, moccasins, monks, mules, peep toe shoes, platform shoes, wedges, slingbacks, school shoes, flats, dress shoes, casual shoes, tap shoes, sandals, flip flops, thongs, mandals, slides, athletic shoes, sneakers, canvas shoes, or skate shoes.

Additionally, the inner surface of the upper portion of the leg cover is partially in contact with the leg and/or substantially in contact with the ankle.

A pair of the leg covers have a selected design portion on each of them such that they are either for a left side or a right side. On the other hand, a pair of the leg covers have a selected design portion on at least the outer surfaces of each of them such that one is for a left side and the other is for a right side.

The material of the leg cover includes leather, chamois leather, chamois cloth, muntjac leather, synthetic leather, wool, Angora wool, Angora fabric, fur, synthetic fur, nylon, rayon, flannel, broadcloth, swansdown, velvet, knit fabrics, woven materials, fibers, artificial fibers, canvas, synthetic polymer fibers, cotton, linen, silk, textiles, plastics, rubber, resins, plastic resins, silicone rubber, elastomers, polymers, synthetic rubber, synthetic resins, synthetic materials, metals, alloys, or the combination thereof.

A detailed description is given in the following embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The following description is of the best-contemplated mode of carrying out the invention. This description is made for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention and should not be taken in a limiting sense. The scope of the invention is best determined by reference to the appended Claims.

As indicated in FIG. 1, it shows generally a woman's dress shoe 50 of a conventional style. It is understood that while this description shows the invention as applied to a dress shoe (i.e. a shoe with a high heel), it is not limited to this embodiment since the invention can be applied to many different forms or styles of shoes. In one preferred embodiment of the invention, it provides a leg cover 100 which comprises: an upper portion 110, which is like a bootleg or a leg warmer and extends from the instep and covers at least the ankle and partial leg; and a stirrup bottom 120, stemming from the upper portion 110, stabilizing the upper portion 110 via a bottom-securing strap 122, and being footless and applied to an existing shoe 50 by the bottom-securing strap 122 beneath the outsole 52 of the shoe 50 or applied to a foot by the bottom-securing strap 122 beneath the arch of the foot.

The upper portion 110 and the stirrup bottom 120 can be made of one piece, while the stirrup bottom 120 is footless. In one embodiment, the upper portion 110 of the leg cover 100 can extend up to the hip or therebetween from the instep; in that way, the leg cover 100 may further comprise one or more supporting elements or enhancing elements (not shown) to support the upper portion 110. In another embodiment, the upper portion 110 of the leg cover 100 may stretch frontward to the toe part or therebetween from the ankle.

Referring to FIG. 1, it shows an exemplary sketch of the leg cover 100 applied to a high-heeled shoe 50 by a bottom-securing strap 122 beneath the outsole 52 of the existing shoe 50. In this embodiment, the upper portion 110 of the leg cover 100 extends nearly up to the knee, and the upper portion 110 looks like a bootleg. After wearing the leg cover 100, a common shoe 50 becomes a stylish boot.

Furthermore, the bottom-securing strap 122 of the leg cover 100 is removably applied to the outsole 52 of the shoe 50, and the bottom-securing strap 122 can be of various widths corresponding to the size or design of the leg cover 100. In this embodiment depicted in FIG. 1, the bottom-securing strap 122 is not too wide to keep the style of the leg cover 100 and the resulting boot smart and trendy. When it comes to the application of the leg cover 100 to the shoe 50, it is quite easy and requires a little bit of time only, not more than the time needed by wearing a boot. Because to put on the leg cover 100 is not less facile than wearing a stocking or a sock is, it merely requires the person to put her foot and leg or foot-in-a-shoe into the leg cover 100 and let the bottom-securing strap 122 beneath the arch of the foot or the outsole 52 of the existing shoe 50.

In addition, the leg cover 100 covering the ankle and leg is able to be on top of any human feet, low top shoes, or open top shoes to protect against the dust, insects, perhaps harm from falling, and to provide warmth around the covered area, and to give ankle support via the ankle-laced area (with the leg cover 100) and the bottom-securing strap 122 beneath the arch of a foot or the arc of the bottom of a shoe.

In one embodiment, the bottom-securing strap 122 can be made of one piece. In other embodiments, the bottom-securing strap 122 may further comprise one or more zippers or the like, one or more shoelaces or the like, one or more laces or the like, the snap closure or the like, one or more buttons or the like, one or more buckles or the like, one or more snap fasteners, the snap closure or the like, similar mechanism, or the combination thereof for mechanically connecting two ends of the bottom-securing strap 122 to form the complete bottom-securing strap 122 beneath the outsole 52 of an existing shoe 50 or beneath the arch of a foot.

In one preferred embodiment, the leg cover 100 further comprises a decoration 112 with a jeweled embellishment 113, a lace 114, and ornamental stitches 116 as patterns on the outer surface of the leg cover 100. All these decorations are illustrated in way of exemplification, not in way of limitation.

By reason of the ornamentation on the outer surface of the leg cover 100, one of a pair of the leg covers 100 is for a left side and the other is for a right side. FIG. 1 delineates the leg cover 100 for a left side.

In this embodiment, the inner surface of the upper portion 110 of the leg cover 100 is substantially in contact with the ankle and partially in contact with the leg just as a bootleg is.

Referring to FIG. 2, in another preferred embodiment of the invention, it provides a kind of leg cover 200 which comprises: an upper portion 210, which is like a low bootleg and extends from the instep and covers the ankle; and a stirrup bottom 220, stemming from the upper portion 210, stabilizing the upper portion 210 via a bottom-securing strap 222, and being footless and applied to an existing shoe 50 by the bottom-securing strap 222 beneath the outsole 52 of the shoe 50 or applied to a foot by the bottom-securing strap 222 beneath the arch of the foot.

The upper portion 210 and the stirrup bottom 220 are made of one piece. In this embodiment, the upper portion 210 of the leg cover 200 covers the ankle only, and the stirrup bottom 220 is footless as well. As illustrated in FIG. 2, it shows an exemplary sketch of the leg cover 200 applied to a high-heeled shoe 50 by the bottom-securing strap 222 beneath the outsole 52 of the shoe 50. After wearing the leg cover 200, a common shoe 50 becomes a fashionable half-boot.

Besides, the bottom-securing strap 222 of the leg cover 200 is removably applied to the outsole 52 of the existing shoe 50, and the bottom-securing strap 222 can be of various widths corresponding to the size or design of the leg cover 200. In this embodiment depicted in FIG. 2, the bottom-securing strap 222 is relatively wide to match the style of the leg cover 200 and the resulting half-boot to be modish and elegant. When it comes to the application of the leg cover 200 to the shoe 50, it is quite easy and requires a little bit of time only, not more than the time needed by wearing a boot. Because to put on the leg cover 200 is not less facile than wearing a sock is, it merely requires the person to put her foot or foot-in-a-shoe into the leg cover 200 and let the bottom-securing strap 222 beneath the arch of a foot or the outsole of a shoe.

In addition, the leg cover 200 covering the ankle can be on top of any human feet, low top shoes, or open top shoes to protect against the dust, insects, perhaps harm from falling, and to provide warmth around the covered area, and to give ankle support via the ankle-laced area (with the leg cover 200) and the bottom-securing strap 222 beneath the arch of a foot or the arc of the bottom of a shoe.

In one preferred embodiment, the bottom-securing strap 222 can be made of one piece. In other embodiments, the bottom-securing strap 222 may further comprise one or more zippers or the like, one or more shoelaces or the like, one or more laces or the like, the snap closure or the like, one or more buttons or the like, one or more buckles or the like, one or more snap fasteners, the snap closure or the like, similar mechanism, or the combination thereof for mechanically connecting two ends of the bottom-securing strap 222 to form the bottom-securing strap 222 completely beneath the outsole 52 of an existing shoe 50 or beneath the arch of a foot.

In one preferred embodiment, the leg cover 200 further comprises a zipper 212 and ornamental stitches 216 as patterns on the outer surface of the leg cover 200. In one embodiment, the upper portion 210 of the leg cover 200 can extend up to the knee or even to the hip from the instep; in that way, the leg cover 200 may further comprise one or more supporting elements or enhancing elements (not shown) to support the upper portion 210. In another embodiment, the upper portion 210 of the leg cover 200 may stretch frontward to the toe part or therebetween from the ankle, while the stirrup bottom 220 is footless.

On account of the plain and symmetrical ornamentation on the outer surface of the leg cover 200, each of a pair of the leg covers 200 is either for a left side or a right side.

In this embodiment, the inner surface of the upper portion 210 of the leg cover 200 is substantially in contact with the ankle.

Referring to FIG. 3, in still another preferred embodiment of the invention, it provides a leg cover 300 which comprises: an upper portion 310, extending from the instep and covering the ankle; and a stirrup bottom 320, stemming from the upper portion 310, stabilizing the upper portion 310 via a bottom-securing strap 322, and being footless and applied to an existing shoe 50 by the bottom-securing strap 322 beneath the outsole 52 of the shoe 50 or applied to a foot by the bottom-securing strap 322 beneath the arch of the foot.

The upper portion 310 and the stirrup bottom 320 can be made of one piece. In this embodiment, the upper portion 310 of the leg cover 300 covers the ankle only, and the stirrup bottom 320 is footless as well. As illustrated in FIG. 3, it shows a schematic diagram of the leg cover 300 applied to a high heel 50 by the bottom-securing strap 322 beneath the outsole 52 of the shoe 50. After wearing the leg cover 300, a common shoe 50 becomes a graceful and neat high heel.

Furthermore, the bottom-securing strap 322 of the leg cover 300 is removably applied to the outsole 52 of an existing shoe 50, and the bottom-securing strap 322 can be of various widths corresponding to the size or design of the leg cover 300. In this embodiment depicted in FIG. 3, the bottom-securing strap 322 is not too narrow to fit the style of the leg cover 300 to stay elegant and chic. When it comes to the application of the leg cover 300 to the shoe 50, it is quite easy and requires a little bit of time only, not more than the time needed by wearing a boot. Because to put on the leg cover 300 is not less simple than wearing a sock is, it merely requires the person to put her foot or foot-in-a-shoe into the leg cover 300 and let the bottom-securing strap 322 beneath the arch of a foot or beneath the outsole of the shoe.

The leg cover 300 covering the ankle is able to be on top of any human feet, low top shoes, or open top shoes to protect against the dust, insects, perhaps harm from falling, and to provide warmth around the covered area, and to give ankle support via the ankle-laced area (with the leg cover 300) and the bottom-securing strap 322 beneath the arch of a foot or the arc of the bottom of a shoe.

In one embodiment, the bottom-securing strap 322 can be made of one piece. In other embodiments, the bottom-securing strap 322 may further comprise one or more zippers or the like, one or more shoelaces or the like, one or more laces or the like, the snap closure or the like, one or more buttons or the like, one or more buckles or the like, one or more snap fasteners, the snap closure or the like, similar mechanism, or the combination thereof for mechanically connecting two ends of the bottom-securing strap 322 to form the bottom-securing strap 322 completely beneath the outsole 52 of an existing shoe 50 or beneath the arch of a foot.

In this embodiment, the leg cover 300 further comprises a button on a lace 314, ornamental stitches 316 as patterns, and a shoelace 318 on the outer surface of the leg cover 300. In one embodiment, the upper portion 310 of the leg cover 300 can extend up to the hip or therebetween from the instep; in that way, the leg cover 300 may further comprise one or more supporting elements or enhancing elements (not shown) to support the upper portion 310. In another embodiment, the upper portion 310 of the leg cover 300 may stretch frontward to the toe part or therebetween from the ankle.

As a result of the ornamentation on the outer surface of the leg cover 300, one of a pair of the leg covers 300 is for a left side and the other is for a right side. FIG. 3 delineates the leg cover 300 for a left side.

In this embodiment, the inner surface of the upper portion 310 of the leg cover 300 is substantially in contact with the ankle.

While the foregoing description focuses on one piece of the leg cover, it is apparent that they would be typically sold and used in pairs, to be applied to a pair of shoes, sandals, slingbacks, mules, thongs, etc. It is also obvious that a single pair of the leg cover is able to fit a fairly wide variety of shoe shapes.

Although the above-mentioned embodiments take a high-heeled shoe as an example, it is not limited to a high heel only. Because the leg cover (e.g. 100, 200, and 300) is removably and easily applied to the outsole of an existing shoe by just a bottom-securing strap (e.g. 122, 222, and 322) beneath the outsole of the shoe, the shoe may include, but not limited to, high heels, stiletto heels, kitten heels, pumps, d'Orsay pumps, mid-heeled shoes, low-heeled shoes, espadrilles, lace-up shoes, Derby shoes, Oxford shoes, Mary Jane shoes, moccasins, monks, mules, peep toe shoes, platform shoes, wedges, slingbacks, school shoes, flats, dress shoes, casual shoes, tap shoes, sandals, flip flops, thongs, mandals, slides, athletic shoes, sneakers, canvas shoes, or skate shoes. In other preferred embodiments, the shoe includes low top shoes or open top shoes.

The leg cover (e.g. 100, 200, and 300) disclosed in the present invention may further comprise, but not limited to, ornamentation, decorations, jeweled embellishments, designs, patterns, cutouts, a zipper or the like, a shoelace or the like, a lace or the like, a strap, a letter strap or the like, the strap closure or the like, a button, a buckle or the like, a snap fastener, the snap closure or the like, the snap flap closure, or the combination thereof on the outer surface of the leg cover.

The leg cover, for example, 100, 200, and 300, is able to be made of a flexible or stretchable material which is readily transported and for storage when in its relaxed form, even in a tote bag or a purse, but while being stretched and applied it will form a totally different pair of shoes from the original one. The material can be some types of synthetic leather and woven elastic fabrics with elegant and stylish designs or patterns. It could also be a waterproof or water resistant material such as rubber and plastics, or something to keep warm, such as wool, knit fabrics, and synthetic fur.

In addition, the material of the leg cover may include, but not limited to, leather, chamois leather, chamois cloth, muntjac leather, synthetic leather, wool, Angora wool, Angora fabric, fur, synthetic fur, nylon, rayon, flannel, broadcloth, swansdown, velvet, knit fabrics, woven materials, fibers, artificial fibers, canvas, synthetic polymer fibers, cotton, linen, silk, textiles, plastics, rubber, resins, plastic resins, silicone rubber, elastomers, polymers, synthetic rubber, synthetic resins, synthetic materials, metals, alloys, or the combination thereof. Actually, the material of the leg cover can be anything that customers will like it with no restriction. Because the “binding mechanism,” i.e. a bottom-securing strap, of the leg cover to a shoe or even to a foot is very simple, most of the materials can meet the requirements to form a leg cover.

By use of the leg cover, the design appearance of a given shoe is able to be changed at will and at ease. The leg cover may also be applied to a foot or a leg in a plaster of Paris surgical cast, and it can beautify the leg with plaster or a bandage. Because the leg cover can be applied to a foot or a leg by a bottom-securing strap easily, there is no trouble to wear it outside the surgical cast or a bandage. This has the advantage over a boot; while the bootleg may be loose, the foot with plaster may not fit the shoe part of a boot. Hence, the leg cover may benefit the patients as well.

To sum up, with respect to the above description, it is to be understood that the optimal dimensional specifications for the parts of the invention, including variations in number, size, shape, form, placement, color, material and the method of fabrication and assembly, are deemed readily apparent to a person having ordinary skill in the art upon reading the foregoing description, and all equivalent specifications to those illustrated in the drawings and detailed in the description are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.
