Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention generally relates to recreational wearing apparel, and particularly to an adjustable swimsuit that provides a swimsuit for women that can be adjusted to assume various fashion styles.

2. Description of the Related Art

Basking in the sun at a beach resort or lounging at poolside while taking a vacation cruise or the like, often entails purchasing an array of swimsuits to accommodate the desire to be fashionably outfitted in a variety of styles. Since fashionable swimsuits are relatively expensive, a large amount of money must be spent on this one purchase. If one's vacation budget is limited, this purchase reduces the amount of funds available for other apparel and/or vacation activities. Furthermore, it may be difficult to fully gauge how a particular swimsuit style may look and fit one's particular body type in the dressing room of a department store. This is especially true if the swimsuit is purchased weeks, if not months, before the vacation date. A few inches gained here or lost there can often greatly alter the appearance and comfort of the swimsuit.

There have been many attempts in the related art to provide a swimsuit that can be adjusted to assume different styles. Unfortunately, these attempts have proved cumbersome and ineffective. The fashion industry would certainly welcome a single swimsuit that could be easily and effectively adjusted to assume different styles as desired. Thus, an adjustable swimsuit solving the aforementioned problems is desired.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The adjustable swimsuit is a two-piece woman's swimsuit comprising a bottom portion and a top or bra portion. The bra portion and the rear of the bottom portion include eyelets along the periphery thereof. The eyelets can take the form of rings, or tabs or like structure and are adapted to receive crisscross lacing threaded therethrough. Tightening or loosening the lacing is effective to alter the contour of the rear bottom and of the bra top, thereby allowing the swimsuit to assume a variety of styles, depending upon the amount of tension applied to the lacing.

Accordingly, the invention presents a swimsuit that can be adjusted easily and efficiently to assume a variety of styles. This scenario allows the wearer to expose more or less buttock and/or cleavage area for tanning or according to reflect the wearer's mood in a different swimsuit style, as desired. The invention provides for improved elements thereof in an arrangement for the purposes described that are inexpensive, dependable and fully effective in accomplishing their intended purposes.

These and other features of the present invention will become readily apparent upon further review of the following specification and drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the adjustable swimsuit 10 includes a top or bra portion 12 and a bottom portion 14. The front part 16 of the bottom portion is fashioned in a conventional, bikini-style contour. A rear part 18 of bottom portion 14 is unitarily attached to front part 16. Rear part 18 is provided with a plurality of eyelets 20 spaced along the lateral periphery thereof. The eyelets 20 are attached to the surface of rear part 18 in a conventional manner and are adapted to receive lacing 22 threaded therethrough. The lacing 22 is threaded in a crisscross pattern and terminates in tieable ends 22a. The bra portion 12 has two discrete bra cups, or partial cups, and is also provided with a plurality of eyelets 20 spaced along the peripheral surface thereof towards the lateral edges of the bra cups on both the medial and lateral edges of each cup. Lacing 24 is threaded through eyelets 20 in the bra 12, terminating in tieable ends 24a behind the neck in halter fashion. A conventional tie-strap or tether 26 extending around the bust line and joining the bra cups is provided to anchor or secure the bra portion 12.

In use, tightening or loosening the tension in the bottom lacing 22 will alter the contour of the rear of the bottom portion 14 of the swimsuit 10 to allow the bottom to assume a different style, such as the Brazilian style of FIG. 3 or the G-string style of FIG. 4, and expose more or less of the buttock area, as desired. By the same token, as shown in FIG. 5, tightening or loosening the bra lacing 24 will alter the contour of the bra portion 12 to allow more or less FIG. 5 exposure of the cleavage area as desired. The bra portion and the bottom portion can be fabricated from any conventional swimsuit fabric.

It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described above, but encompasses any and all embodiments within the scope of the following claims.
