HAIR PAD

Abstract

A hair pad includes a hook-supporting tape and an ornamental sheet attached to a front surface of the hook-supporting tape. A plurality of slender hair-gripping hooks is fixed to a rear surface of the hook-supporting tape. Each of the hair-gripping hooks has a fixing end connected to the rear surface of the hook-supporting tape, and a free end provided with a diametrically expanded hook section. Each of the hook sections has a slant hooking surface coupled with a tip of the free end of the hair-gripping hook. With the hook sections and the slant hooking surfaces at the free ends of the hair-gripping hooks, the hair pad can be used as a hair ornament or a hair band to grip and hold hair in place.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This non-provisional application claims priority under 35 U.S.C. §119(a) on Patent Application No(s). 099209635 filed in Taiwan, R.O.C. on May 21, 2010, the entire contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a hair pad, and more particularly to a hair pad that may serve as a hair ornament or a hair band and can stably grip and hold hair in place.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

There are various kinds of hair accessories, which decorate while preventing hair from getting loosened and messed. These hair accessories can be attached to hair in many ways. For example, the hair accessories may be provided with a movable clip, allowing users to conveniently clip the hair accessories to their hair to achieve both functions of decorating and holding hair in place. A hair band is one form of many hair accessories for wearing on a user's head to similarly achieve the effects of decorating hair and holding hair in place. The conventional hair accessories provided with a clip or formed into a hair band usually require considerably high manufacturing cost. Further, it requires troublesome process to hold hair with the clip on the hair accessory; and the conventional hair accessories could not be conveniently used to hold a large area of hair.

Recently, there has been developed a type of hair accessory, which is also referred to as a hair pad. The currently available hair pad mainly includes a sheet, an inner side of which is formed with a large number of hooks similar to the hook tape of a Velcro® tape; and patterns or other ornaments can be provided on an outer side of the sheet. A user may lightly press the inner side of the hair pad against her hair, and the large number of hooks would grip the hair to serve as an ornament while holding the hair in place. However, the hooks on the inner side of the conventional hair pad are configured similar to the curved hooks on the Velcro® tape and could not stably grip the hair in practical use of the hair pad because human hair is different from the piles on the loop tape of the Velcro® tape after all. In brief, the conventional hair pad tends to undesirably loosen from and accordingly fall off the hair during use.

It is therefore tried by the inventor to develop a hair pad that is provided on a rear surface with special hook structures capable of stably gripping hair to prevent the hair pad from falling off during use.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A primary object of the present invention is to provide a hair pad with improved hook structures, so that hook sections and slant hooking surfaces at free ends of a plurality of slender hair-gripping hooks of the hair pad can stably grip and hold a user's hair in place, preventing the hair pad from falling off during use.

To achieve the above and other objects, the hair pad according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a hook-supporting tape, an ornamental sheet attached to a front surface of the hook-supporting tape, and a plurality of slender hair-gripping hooks fixed to a rear surface of the hook-supporting tape. The hair-gripping hooks respectively have a fixing end connected to the rear surface of the hook-supporting tape, and a free end provided with a diametrically expanded hook section; and each of the hook sections has a slant hooking surface coupled with a tip of the free end of the hair-gripping hook.

Preferably, the hook sections are respectively a domed body integrally formed on the hair-gripping hooks, and the hair-gripping hooks are respectively a curved long body with a circular cross section. And, the hook-supporting tape is a woven fabric, and the fixing ends of the hair-gripping hooks are inserted in between fibers of the woven fabric. Preferably, an adhesive is applied to between the fixing ends of the hair-gripping hooks and the fibers of the woven fabric.

In another embodiment of the present invention, the hair pad further includes a layer of foamed material attached to the front surface of the hook-supporting tape, and the ornamental sheet is then covered on the layer of foamed material.

Preferably, the ornamental sheet is a piece of woven fabric or plastic cloth, and has patterns or ornaments provided thereon.

With the above arrangements, the hair pad of the present invention can serve as a hair ornament or a hair band, and the hook sections and the slant hooking surfaces at the free ends of the hair-gripping hooks can stably grip and hold a user's hair in place to prevent the hair pad from falling off during use.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The present invention will now be described with some preferred embodiments thereof and with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Please refer to FIGS. 1 and 2 that are exploded and assembled perspective views, respectively, of a hair pad according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. As shown, the hair pad includes a hook-supporting tape 1 and an ornamental sheet 2 attached to a front surface of the hook-supporting tape 1. The hook-supporting tape 1 and the ornamental sheet 2 can be correspondingly cut into various shapes, such as a butterfly as that shown in FIG. 2 and a narrow strip as that shown in FIG. 5. The hook-supporting tape 1 is provided on a rear surface with a plurality of slender hair-gripping hooks 3. Please refer to FIG. 3 that is a fragmentary and enlarged side view showing the hair-gripping hooks 3 on the hair pad of the present invention. The hair-gripping hooks 3 respectively have a fixing end connected to the rear surface of the hook-supporting tape 1, and a free end provided with a diametrically expanded hook section 31. Each of the hook sections 31 has a slant hooking surface 32 coupled with a tip of the free end of the hair-gripping hook 3. With the above structure, the hair pad of the present invention can stick on the user's hair with the hook sections 31 and the slant hooking surfaces 32 of the hair-gripping hooks 3 gripping and holding the hair in place.

As shown in FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, the hair-gripping hooks 3 and the hook sections 31 thereof can be integrally formed using a plastic material. For the purpose of gripping and holding the hair in place, the hair-gripping hooks 3 can respectively be a curved long body having a circular cross section, and the hook sections 31 can respectively be a substantially domed body. The hook-supporting tape 1 may be implemented as a piece of woven fabric 11, so that the fixing ends of the hair-gripping hooks 3 can be inserted in between fibers of the woven fabric 11. Further, an adhesive may be applied to between the fixing ends of the hair-gripping hooks 3 and the fibers of the woven fabric 11, so that the hair-gripping hooks 3 and the hook-supporting tape 1 are able to firmly and securely connect to one another. The ornamental sheet 2 can be directly attached to the front surface of the hook-supporting tape 1. Alternatively, a layer of foamed material 4 may be attached to the front surface of the hook-supporting tape 1 first, and the ornamental sheet 2 is then covered onto the foamed material 4. The ornamental sheet 2 can be a piece of woven fabric 21 or a piece of plastic cloth. The ornamental sheet 2 may have patterns or other ornaments attached thereto, so that the hair pad not only serves to grip and hold hair in place, but also provides an ornamental function.

FIG. 4 shows one example of using the hair pad of the present invention. As shown, the user needs only to lightly press the rear surface of the hook-supporting tape 1 of the hair pad against a desired area of her hair, and the hair-gripping hooks 3 and the hook sections 31 thereof naturally move into spaces in the hair. At this point, the hook sections 31 and the slant hooking surfaces 32 would cooperatively grip the hair thereto. In this manner, the hair pad can stick on the hair without falling off during use to thereby not only hold the hair in place but also form a hair ornament.

FIGS. 5 and 6 show another example of using the hair pad of the present invention. As shown, the hook-supporting tape 1 and the ornamental sheet 2 of the hair pad can be correspondingly cut into long strips. With this configuration, the hair pad can be used as a hair band for putting around the hair above the user's forehead to simultaneously hold more hair in a large area while serving as a hair ornament.

With the above arrangements, the hair pad of the present invention is novel and improved because the hair-gripping hooks 3 at the rear surface of the hair pad are modified for the hook sections 31 and the slant hooking surfaces 32 at the free ends of the hair-gripping hooks 3 to grip the hair, allowing the hair pad to stick on the hair without easily falling off during use. The hair pad of the present invention is also industrially useful because products derived from the present invention would no doubt meet the market demands.

The present invention has been described with some preferred embodiments thereof and it is understood that many changes and modifications in the described embodiments can be carried out without departing from the scope and the spirit of the invention that is intended to be limited only by the appended claims.

Claims

1. A hair pad comprising a hook-supporting tape, an ornamental sheet attached to a front surface of the hook-supporting tape, and a plurality of slender hair-gripping hooks fixed to a rear surface of the hook-supporting tape; the hair-gripping hooks respectively having a fixing end connected to the rear surface of the hook-supporting tape, and a free end provided with a diametrically expanded hook section; and each of the hook sections having a slant hooking surface coupled with a tip of the free end of the hair-gripping hook.

2. The hair pad as claimed in claim 1, wherein the hook sections are respectively a domed body integrally formed on the hair-gripping hook.

3. The hair pad as claimed in claim 2, wherein the hair-gripping hooks are respectively a curved long body having a circular cross section.

4. The hair pad as claimed in claim 1, wherein the hook-supporting tape is a woven fabric, and the fixing ends of the hair-gripping hooks are inserted in between fibers of the woven fabric.

5. The hair pad as claimed in claim 4, wherein an adhesive is applied to between the fixing ends of the hair-gripping hooks and the fibers of the woven fabric.

6. The hair pad as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a layer of foamed material attached to the front surface of the hook-supporting tape, and the ornamental sheet being covered on the layer of foamed material.

7. The hair pad as claimed in claim 1, wherein the ornamental sheet is selected from the group consisting of woven fabric and plastic cloth.

8. The hair pad as claimed in claim 6, wherein the ornamental sheet is selected from the group consisting of woven fabric and plastic cloth.

9. The hair pad as claimed in claim 7, wherein the ornamental sheet has patterns or ornaments provided thereon.

10. The hair pad as claimed in claim 8, wherein the ornamental sheet has patterns or ornaments provided thereon.
