Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates generally to the field of smoking instruments. More particularly, this invention relates to a convenient method of creating and applying a crutch to a smoking instrument and providing an opportunity to create a business advantage.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Over the course of many decades, handmade cigarette smoking has become more and more sophisticated without losing its earthly appeal. One of the improvements over the years in handmade rolled cigarettes is the advent of a crutch.

Typically, rolling papers are extremely thin. As the user smokes the cigarette, the end becomes moistened. This typically leads to the end becoming dysfunctional and prematurely ending the cigarette's usefulness.

A crutch acts in the way of a reinforcement to prevent such premature dysfunctionality of the cigarette. Typically, the crutch is quarter inch strip of heavy paper. The paper is rolled or folded or in some way manipulated to be inserted into one end of the cigarette.

Currently and in the past, some businesses selling tobacco and medical marijuana for use in hand rolled cigarettes gave away business cards. Some customers of such businesses would tear off bits of the business cards and use those bits as crutches.

These bit were clearly of irregular shape and size. Sometimes one type of roll or fold will work and sometimes it won't. There is absolutely no consistency when one simply tears off a bit of a business card. Additionally, by simply tearing off bits of the business card, the integrity of the information on the card is compromised and even destroyed. Thus, the original purpose of the business, namely to create a business opportunity is destroyed in the process of making the crutch.

What is needed is a device to supply uniform material through which a consistent crutch may be formed.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The structure of the device includes a business card having a first portion with no perforations and a second portion having a series of perforations. The perforations divide the second portion into four, five or even six strips. Each strip is capable of being formed into a crutch. The first section is imprinted with business card information, which is preserved despite providing a plurality of strips capable of being formed into crutches.

It is an object of this invention is to provide a device, which provides material for making consistent crutches using a uniform method of creation.

It is another object of this invention to provide a device, which preserves the integrity of a business card, while at the same time providing a device that provides material for making consistent crutches using a uniform method of creation.

In accordance with the objects set forth above and as will be described more fully below, the device in accordance with this invention, comprises:

A device for supplying a plurality of crutches for assisting in rolling hand made cylindrical smoking instruments, the device comprising:

a business card, the business card having a series of perforations, each perforation defining a strip, each strip defining a crutch,

whereby upon removing a perforated strip from the device, the strip may be manipulated to the shape to fit at one end of the smoking instrument.

In another exemplary embodiment of the invention, a method is provided, in accordance with the invention as follows:

A method of creating a crutch for a handmade cylindrical smoking instrument, the method comprising the steps of:

providing a business card type device having a series of perforated strips;

tearing off a strip at the perforation;

manipulating the strip to be form with the cylindrical smoking instrument; and

inserting the manipulated strip in one end of the smoking instrument to create a handmade smoking instrument including a crutch.

In another exemplary embodiment, the device in accordance with this invention, includes an unperforated portion, which includes imprinting of business information.

It is an advantage of the in accordance with the instant invention to provide a series usable crutches, which can be created by using a consistent method of creation.

It is an additional objection of the device in accordance with the invention to provide a series of crutches while preserving the business card information on the card used to create the crutches.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING

For a further understanding of the objects and advantages of the present invention, reference should be had to the following detailed description, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which like parts are given like reference numerals and wherein:

FIGS. 1 & 2 illustrate plan views of the device in accordance with this invention.

FIG. 3 illustrates a crutch created from the device in accordance with the invention applied to one end of a handmade cylindrical smoking instrument.

FIG. 4 illustrates, in perspective, a crutch created from the device in accordance with the invention before being applied to one end of a handmade cylindrical smoking instrument.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In order to appreciate the invention herein, one must appreciate the need in the art as set forth in the Background. Most importantly, the structure herein for resolving the long felt need to create uniform crutches so that a consistent method of creating the crutch. Additionally, and just as importantly, the crutch is created without eliminating the business information contained on the card.

With particular reference to FIGS. 1-3, there is shown an exemplary embodiment of the device in accordance with the invention. The device is generally denoted by the numeral 10. The device 10 defines a business card 12 and is in the general form, size and shape of such a card.

The business card 12 has a first portion 14, which has no perforation. This portion of the business card in accordance with the invention represents a conventional business card and includes the necessary business information. For example, portion 14 includes the name and address of the business as well as the email and telephone and fax numbers. Other information such as the business logo, a contact person and their title or role with the business organization is also included.

The business card 12 includes a second portion 16 having a series of perforations 18. As seen clearly in FIGS. 1 & 2, there are five strips 20 formed from the series of perforations 18. Within the spirit and scope of the invention, even a single strip may be formed or more than 2. Certainly, it is within the spirit and scope of the invention to form 6 or even more strips.

Each strip 20 is approximately ¼″. Of course, there is no set limitation to the width of the strip and other widths that would be approximately uniform and capable of being formed into a crutch 22, such as illustrated in FIGS. 3 & 4 are of course, within the spirit and scope of this invention.

One unique aspect of the invention is that the strips 20 are formed into approximately uniform widths. This aspect is important because it assists the user in being able to form a crutch 22 into such using the same manner of manipulation each and every time. Using paper torn from a conventional business card or matchbook cover does not allow the person this benefit. Simply tearing off paper results in uneven and irregular strips as well as strips of non-uniform width. Such randomly torn off strips require the user to alter his manner of manipulation such that the strip can be formed into a crutch and inserted into one end of the smoking instrument.

Uniform widths and lengths as well consistency of materials are truly useful, if not essential to the beginner creator hand made smoking instruments. For example, if a person is suffering from cancer, medical marijuana is, at least, sometimes prescribed in order to alleviate symptoms. Quite often this user will be debilatated from their disease and every effort at providing convenient and efficient materials and method for creating a smoking instrument are invaluable to such a user. In truth, many of these types of users are completely unfamiliar with marijuana and have never made a joint or handmade smoking instrument before becoming a cancer patient. Again every effort must be made to assist these individuals and give comfort wherever and whenever possible. This invention promotes and easy and efficient material and method for creating such a smoking instrument.

With particular reference to FIGS. 3 & 4, there is shown the strip 20 manipulated into a crutch 22. FIG. 4 illustrates a strip 20 having been rolled into a crutch. It will be appreciated that within the spirit and scope of the invention, the strip 20 is formed into a crutch 22 by folding the strip 20 as appropriate.

Once the strip 20 is formed into a crutch 22, it is inserted into one end of a smoking instrument 30 as shown in FIG. 3. FIG. 3 illustrates the ends of the smoking instrument 30 being twisted. However, this is completely a user's choice and is not necessary and certainly not a limitation of this invention.

While the foregoing detailed description has described several exemplary embodiments of the device and method of creating and using a crutch in accordance with this invention, it is to be understood that the above description is illustrative only and not limiting of the disclosed invention. Thus, the invention is to be limited only by the claims as set forth below.
