Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates generally to a disposable cup lid, and more particularly, to a cup lid with a plug.

2. Description of the Related Art

A conventional disposable cup, like paper cup or plastic cup, has a naked drinking hole without any cover, so it is subject to the inconvenience of overspill while the cup containing beverage is picked up, being moved, or put on the moving car. Besides, the drinking hole of the conventional cup is usually small, so it is very difficult for a user to put some additives, like creamer or sugar, into the cup through the drinking hole. Otherwise, the user may have to uncover the cup lid, then put the additives into the cup, and finally put the cover back to the cup. However, it is still inconvenient for the user to do so and it is subject to accidental overset of the beverage.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a cup lid with a plug, which can prevent the beverage from overspill.

The secondary objective of the present invention is to provide a cup lid with a plug, where additives can be put into through its drinking hole.

The foregoing objectives of the present invention are attained by the cup lid composed of a lid body and a plug. The lid body includes a fastening portion extending downward from a peripheral edge thereof for fastening the cup lid onto a cup body. The lid body includes a drinking hole and a vent hole. The plug can pluggably jam the drinking hole.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a top view of a preferred embodiment of the present invention.

FIG. 2 is a side view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention.

FIG. 3 is a sectional view taken from a line A-A indicated in FIG. 1.

FIG. 4 is a sectional view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention engaged with a cup body.

FIG. 5 is a schematic view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

Referring to FIGS. 1-4, a cup lid 10 constructed according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention is composed of a lid body 11 and a plug 30. The detailed descriptions and operations of these elements as well as their interrelations are recited in the respective paragraphs as follows.

The lid body 11 includes a fastening portion 12 extending downward from a peripheral edge thereof for fastening the cup lid 10 onto a cup body 20. The lid body 11 includes a drinking hole 13, a vent hole 14, and a drinking portion 15 protruding upward from the drinking hole 13 and from a top side of the lid body 11. The drinking portion 15 is provided with an opening 151 formed on a top side thereof, a through hole 152 formed internally, and an inclined guiding portion 153 formed between the opening 151 and the through hole 152. The opening 151 is bigger than the through hole 152 in diameter.

The drinking portion 15 protrudes upward from where is close to an external edge of the lid body 11. The opening 151 is provided with two sides, one of which is close to the external edge of the lid body 11 to be defined as an external side and the other is defined as an internal side. The guiding portion 153 extends downward and outward from the internal side of the opening 151. The through hole 152 is located between a bottom end of the guiding portion 153 and the external side of the opening 151. The guiding portion 153 extends downward and outward for a length which is more than a half of an internal diameter of the opening 151.

In this embodiment, the lid body 11 includes a concavity 16. The vent hole 14 is located at the concavity 16.

Referring to FIG. 5, the user can put the additives, like creamer or sugar, into a cup body 20 through the opening 151 of the drinking hole 13. The additives can be guided by the guiding portion 153 to fall into the cup body 20 through the through hole 152. When the user drinks hot beverage, the hot beverage could flow through the smaller through hole 152 only because of the barrier of the guiding portion 153 for the purpose of limitation to flow of the beverage, so it can prevent the user's mouth from burn to being operational convenient and safe.

The plug 30 can pluggably jam the opening 151 of the drinking hole 13 to seal the opening 151. As shown in FIG. 5, the plug 30 can also be plugged into the concavity 16.

The drinking hole 13 can be jammed by the plug 30, so the user does not have the inconvenience of beverage overspill whenever the beverage is being moved or put on a moving car. When the user intends to drink the beverage, the user can jam the concavity 16 with the plug 30. When the user does not continue drinking the beverage, the user can put the plug 30 back to the drinking hole 13.

Although the present invention has been described with respect to a specific preferred embodiment thereof, it is no way limited to the details of the illustrated structures but changes and modifications may be made within the scope of the appended claims.
