Portable Hair Styling Kit
A portable hair styling kit comprising: at least one hair styling instrument, where the hair styling instrument is transported to style a head of hair; at least one battery pack for the hair styling instrument, where the battery pack powers the hair styling instrument to enable a user to utilize the hair styling instrument at a location of their choosing; and a battery charger, where the battery charger charges the battery pack. The portable hair styling kit may all be housed within a storage case for easy transportability. The hair styling instruments may include a blow dryer, a curling iron, a hair straightener, a pair of clippers and a variety of other hair styling tools.
1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a collection of battery powered hair styling instruments that are included in a single kit to enable a user to style and clip their hair in any location of their choosing.
2. Description of Related Art
Hair stylists, whether professional, amateur or simply home stylists, continuously utilize tools and products to make their hair and the hair of others conform to a particular shape or style. Common hair styling tools are scissors, combs, clippers, dryers, curling irons and straighteners. All of these tools assist the stylist to manipulate hair into the desired placement. Many times the stylists struggle to find a place to plug in their electrically powered tools and must sacrifice one tool for another when power outlets are limited. Often hair salons are equipped with many outlets at each stylist's station to ensure that every tool desired is readily available. A problem commonly experienced by stylists is cord tangling. Since so many tools are plugged into the outlets, cords easily cross and tangle interrupting the stylist's ability to just focus on the task at hand. Another problem commonly experienced is finding an outlet or enough outlets when the stylist is requested on location or at a client's home to style their hair. The tools are either used one at a time, with wait time delays if heating is necessary, or at separated outlets with delays by either retrieving or relocating to the heated tool.
Therefore it would be beneficial in the art to provide a set of battery powered styling instruments for use at a location of the stylist's choosing. It would also be desirable in the art to provide a styling kit that offers the experience of a salon outside of the salon.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONIn view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the prior art, the general purpose of the present invention is to provide a portable hair styling kit, configured to include all of the advantages of the prior art, and to overcome the drawbacks inherent therein.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a kit comprising portable, battery powered styling instruments.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a storage case to house the styling instruments when not in use.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a kit that includes a battery charger to enable a user to recharge the batteries of the battery powered styling instruments.
To achieve the above objects, in an aspect of the present invention, a portable hair styling kit is described comprising: at least one hair styling instrument, where the hair styling instrument is transported to style a head of hair; at least one battery pack for the hair styling instrument, where the battery pack powers the hair styling instrument to enable a user to utilize the hair styling instrument at a location of their choosing; and a battery charger, where the battery charger charges the battery pack. The portable hair styling kit may all be housed within a storage case for easy transportability. The hair styling instruments may include a blow dryer, a curling iron, a hair straightener, a pair of clippers and a variety of other hair styling tools.
These together with other aspects of the present invention, along with the various features of novelty that characterize the present invention, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed hereto and form a part of this present invention. For a better understanding of the present invention, its operating advantages, and the specific objects attained by its uses, reference should be made to the accompanying drawing and descriptive matter in which there are illustrated exemplary embodiments of the present invention.

The present invention relates to a collection of battery powered hair styling instruments that are included in a single kit to enable a user to style and clip their hair in any location of their choosing. The present invention provides a portable hair styling kit comprising a set of battery powered hair styling instruments and a battery charger to style hair anywhere, at any time. The portable hair styling kit may benefit users who struggle with being able to style their hair anywhere but in the salon. As such, the portable hair styling kit allows the user to benefit the full salon experience at a location of their choosing.

Another hair styling instrument included in the hair styling kit (100) may be a blow dryer (110). The blow dryer (110) may be a standard blow dryer including a handle (112) with activation and heat switches, a nozzle (114) and an internal motor. At an end of the handle (112), a dryer battery pack (116) may be attached. The dryer battery pack (116) enables the user to dry their own hair or the hair of another by using the blow dryer (114) in any location of their choosing, without having to worry about finding a plug or outlet for power. The portable hair styling kit (100) may also include a second dryer battery pack to exchange when the first dryer battery pack (116) is out of charge.
Another hair styling instrument may be a straightener (120). The straightener (120) includes a pair of arms (122a, 122b) that move towards and away from each other during use. Along each arm (122a, 122b), towards the end and on the sides facing the opposing arm, are plates (124). The plates (124) heat and press together when the arms (122a, 122b) join. To move the arms (122a, 122b) is a handle (126) where the user grasps the straightener (120) without burning their hands. At an end of the straightener (120), opposite to the tips of the arms (122a, 122b) where the plates (124) are attached, is a straightener battery pack (128). The straightener battery pack (128) powers the straightener (120) without requiring an outlet for electricity. Thus, the straightener battery pack (128) heats the plates (124) to permit hair straightening as desired by the user. Again, the straightener battery pack (128) includes a second straightener battery pack as a backup.
Finally, the hair styling instruments may include a curling iron (130). The curling iron (130) typically includes a handle (132) and a barrel (134). The curling iron (130) may include a clip (136) to assist the user in securing the hair against the hot barrel (134). The curling iron (130) may also include heat varying controls to allow the user to adjust the heat produced by the barrel (134). At an end of the handle (132) is a curling iron battery pack (138). The portable hair styling kit (100) also includes a second curling iron battery pack just like the other hair styling instruments.
The portable hair styling kit (100) includes a battery charger (140). The battery charger (140) includes a housing (142) to contain and charge the individual hair styling instrument's battery packs (108, 116, 128, 138) and the second battery packs. The housing (142) includes a handle (144) to carry and transport the battery charger (140). Attached to the housing (142) is a cord and plug (146) to enable the user to plug the battery charger into an outlet for electrical power.
The portable hair styling kit (100) may all be housed and transported in a storage case (150). The storage case (150) includes a compartment (152) to receive the hair styling instruments and the battery charger (140). The compartment (152) may be lined in a foam or padded material to prevent damage to the hair styling instruments during use. The storage case (150) includes a lid (154) to enclose the hair styling instruments within the compartment (152). The lid (154) may be secured against the compartment (152) with a lock (156). The lock (156) may close on a latch and may require a key or combination to open. For portability, the storage case (150) may include a handle (158).
All of the hair styling instruments may include activation switches or buttons to enable the user to power them on when needed and then power them off when unused thereby saving the battery packs (108, 116, 128, 138) life. LED lighting may integrated with the on/off switches of each device. The LED lighting provides a means to alert the user of the status of each device, such as when using the flatiron the LED light may turn red once the iron is hot ready to use and conversely turn blue once the iron is cool. Another example of such may involve the use of LED lights on the blow dryer such that the red lights indicate hot airflow and blue lights indicate a cool airflow.
Each of the battery packs (108, 116, 128, 138) and secondary battery packs may be constructed to specifically fit to the individual hair styling instrument they are meant to charge. Alternatively, the battery packs (108, 116, 128, 138) and secondary battery packs may all be standardized or sized the same, wherein each of the hair styling instruments are adapted to fit the standard size battery pack. The battery packs (108, 116, 128, 138) may be 12V lithium-ion battery packs and accordingly the battery charger (140) is adapted to charge this type of battery. Finally, the battery packs (108, 116, 128, 138) easily snap on and snap off of the hair styling instruments so they are readily available for immediate use.
The kit (100) according to the present invention may include an additional set of batteries available for each hair styling instrument included in the kit (100). The kit (100) further includes a means for the insertion of the batteries for recharging purposes. The recharging of the batteries is accomplished within the kit (100) and eliminates the need for multiple cords for the styling instruments.
The hair styling instruments may be available in smaller or mini sizes to create a travel hair styling kit. With the travel hair styling kit all of the same hair styling instruments are included but the user is granted the additional benefit of being able to pack the travel hair styling kit in their purse or bag. The portable hair styling kit (100) may also include styling tools like hair products (like hair spray, gel, pomade, wax and the like), scissors, clips, an apron, extensions, brushes, combs, hair accessories, pins, rollers, mirror and the like to provide the user with the total hair salon experience all packed into a portable, carry all kit.
The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The exemplary embodiment was chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated.
Claims
1. A portable hair styling kit comprising:
- a plurality of rechargeable hair styling instruments, where the plurality of rechargeable hair styling instruments is transported to style a head of hair, and where the plurality of rechargeable hair styling instruments includes a blow dryer, a curling iron, a hair straightener, and a pair of clippers;
- a plurality of removable battery packs for the plurality of rechargeable hair styling instruments, where the removable battery packs powers the plurality of rechargeable hair styling instruments to enable a user to utilize the plurality of rechargeable hair styling instruments at a location of their choosing;
- a battery charger, where the battery charger charges the plurality of removable battery packs;
- a plurality of hair styling tools; and
- a storage case to house the plurality of rechargeable hair styling instruments, the plurality of hair styling tools, the plurality of removable battery packs, and the battery charger, where the storage case includes a lid, a handle, and a lock.

7. The portable hair styling kit according to claim 1, wherein the plurality of hair styling tools include at least one of hair products, scissors, clips, apron, extensions, brushes, combs, hair accessories, pins, rollers and a mirror.
8. The portable hair styling kit according to claim 1, wherein the battery pack is adapted to fit the hair styling instrument.
9. The portable hair styling kit according to claim 1, wherein the battery pack comprise a standard size thereby the hair styling instrument is adapted to fit the standard size battery pack.
10. The portable hair styling kit according to claim 1, wherein the hair styling instrument is mini to create a travel hair styling kit.
11. The portable hair styling kit according to claim 1, wherein the battery charger includes a housing to receive the battery packs, where the housing includes a handle for portability and a plug for charging.
12. The portable hair styling kit according to claim 1, where the lock is one of at least a key lock and a combination lock.
