Combination Drawer with Adjustable Dividing Function

A combination drawer includes a drawer body, at least one dividing unit mounted in the drawer body, and at least one retractable member slidably mounted on the dividing unit. Thus, the retractable member co-operates with the dividing unit to fit the length of the drawer body so that the total length of the retractable member and the dividing unit can be adjusted to fit the drawer body of different sizes, thereby enhancing the versatility of the combination drawer.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a drawer and, more particularly, to a combination drawer.

2. Description of the Related Art

A conventional drawer comprises a drawer body and a plurality of baffles mounted in the drawer body to divide the inner space of the drawer body into a plurality of compartments for storing items, such as papers, files, documents and the like, of different sizes. However, each of the baffles has a fixed length so that each of the compartments has a fixed size and cannot be adjusted according to the user's practical requirement, thereby limiting the versatility of the conventional drawer.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a combination drawer, comprising a drawer body, at least one dividing unit mounted in the drawer body, and at least one retractable member slidably mounted on the dividing unit. The dividing unit includes a baffle. The baffle of the dividing unit has two opposite sides each provided with an elongate slideway. The retractable member is slidably mounted on the baffle of the dividing unit. The retractable member has two opposite sides each provided with a slide slidably mounted in the respective slideway of the baffle to guide a sliding movement of the retractable member relative to the baffle of the dividing unit. Thus, the retractable member is movable relative to the baffle of the dividing unit to abut an inner side of the drawer body so that the baffle of the dividing unit co-operates with the retractable member to fit a length of the drawer body.

The combination drawer further comprises at least one separation unit mounted in the drawer body and connected with the dividing unit. The separation unit includes a partition, a fastening member mounted on a first end of the partition and connected with the dividing unit, and a plug mounted on a second end of the partition. The fastening member of the separation unit has an upper end provided with a hook portion hooked onto the baffle of the dividing unit. The fastening member of the separation unit has a surface provided with a guide rail slidably mounted in the respective slideway of the baffle to guide a sliding movement of the fastening member of the separation unit relative to the baffle of the dividing unit.

The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a combination drawer with adjustable dividing function.

According to the primary advantage of the present invention, the retractable member co-operates with the dividing unit to fit the length of the drawer body so that the total length of the retractable member and the dividing unit can be adjusted to fit the drawer body of different sizes, thereby enhancing the versatility of the combination drawer.

According to another advantage of the present invention, the inner space of the drawer body is divided into multiple compartments by the dividing unit and the separation unit, and the separation unit is movable relative to the dividing unit to change the position of the separation unit so as to adjust the size of each of the compartments of the drawer body.

Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1-8, a combination drawer in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a drawer body 8, at least one dividing unit 1 mounted in the drawer body 8, and at least one retractable member 2 slidably mounted on the dividing unit 1.

The dividing unit 1 includes a baffle 10, and two end caps 11 mounted on two opposite ends of the baffle 10. The baffle 10 of the dividing unit 1 is formed integrally by an aluminum extruding process. The baffle 10 of the dividing unit 1 has two opposite sides each provided with an elongate slideway 100. The baffle 10 of the dividing unit 1 has an interior provided with two fixing slots 101. Each of the fixing slots 101 of the baffle 10 is extended through the two opposite ends of the baffle 10. Each of the end caps 11 of the dividing unit 1 has a side provided with two fixing pins 110 inserted into the fixing slots 101 of the baffle 10 respectively to affix each of the end caps 11 to the baffle 10. Each of the end caps 11 of the dividing unit 1 has an interior provided with two fixing holes 111.

The retractable member 2 is slidably mounted on the baffle 10 of the dividing unit 1 and has an interior provided with a mounting chamber 20 mounted on the baffle 10 of the dividing unit 1. The mounting chamber 20 of the retractable member 2 has a shape matching that of the baffle 10 of the dividing unit 1. The retractable member 2 has two opposite sides each provided with a slide 21 slidably mounted in the respective slideway 100 of the baffle 10 to guide a sliding movement of the retractable member 2 relative to the baffle 10 of the dividing unit 1. Thus, the retractable member 2 is movable relative to the baffle 10 of the dividing unit 1 to abut an inner side of the drawer body 8 so that the baffle 10 of the dividing unit 1 co-operates with the retractable member 2 to fit a length of the drawer body 8.

The combination drawer further comprises at least one adjusting piece 4 mounted on one of the end caps 11 of the dividing unit 1 to increase a length of the baffle 10, and two adhesive members 3 mounted on the two opposite ends of the baffle 10 and bonded onto the drawer body 8 to affix the baffle 10 of the dividing unit 1 to the drawer body 8.

The adjusting piece 4 has a side provided with two fixing stubs 40 inserted into the fixing holes 111 of one of the end caps 11 to affix the adjusting piece 4 to one of the end caps 11 of the dividing unit 1. The adjusting piece 4 has an interior provided with two fixing bores 41 aligning with the fixing stubs 40 respectively so that the fixing stubs 40 of one adjusting piece 4 are inserted into the fixing bores 41 of another adjusting piece 4. The adjusting piece 4 and the retractable member 2 are located at the two opposite ends of the baffle 10 respectively. Preferably, one of the adhesive members 3 is mounted on the retractable member 2, and the other one of the adhesive members 3 is mounted on the adjusting piece 4.

The combination drawer further comprises at least one separation unit 5 mounted in the drawer body 8 and connected with the dividing unit 1. The separation unit 5 includes a partition 50, a fastening member 51 mounted on a first end of the partition 50 and connected with the dividing unit 1, and a plug 52 mounted on a second end of the partition 50.

The partition 50 of the separation unit 5 is perpendicular to the baffle 10 of the dividing unit 1 and has two opposite sides each provided with an elongate guiding groove 501. The partition 50 of the separation unit 5 has an interior provided with two locating channels 500. Each of the locating channels 500 of the partition 50 is extended through the first end and the second end of the partition 50.

The fastening member 51 of the separation unit 5 has a side provided with two locating pins 510 inserted into the locating channels 500 of the partition 50 to affix the fastening member 51 to the partition 50. The fastening member 51 of the separation unit 5 has an upper end provided with a hook portion 511 hooked onto the baffle 10 of the dividing unit 1. The fastening member 51 of the separation unit 5 has a surface provided with a guide rail 512 slidably mounted in the respective slideway 100 of the baffle 10 to guide a sliding movement of the fastening member 51 of the separation unit 5 relative to the baffle 10 of the dividing unit 1.

The guide rail 512 of the fastening member 51 is aligned with the guiding groove 501 of the partition 50 so that when a first separation unit is connected with a second separation unit which is perpendicular to the first separation unit, the hook portion 511 of the fastening member 51 of the first separation unit is hooked onto the partition 50 of the second separation unit, and the guide rail 512 of the fastening member 51 of the first separation unit is slidable in the guiding groove 501 of the partition 50 of the second separation unit.

The plug 52 of the separation unit 5 has a side provided with two locating tubes 520 inserted into the locating channels 500 of the partition 50 to affix the plug 52 to the partition 50. The plug 52 of the separation unit 5 has an interior provided with two positioning holes 521.

The combination drawer further comprises at least one adjusting block 6 mounted on the plug 52 of the separation unit 5 to increase a length of the partition 50. The adjusting block 6 has a side provided with two positioning pins 60 inserted into the positioning holes 521 of the plug 52 to affix the adjusting block 6 to the plug 52 of the separation unit 5. The adjusting block 6 has an interior provided with two positioning bores 61 aligning with the positioning pins 60 respectively so that the positioning pins 60 of one adjusting block 6 are inserted into the positioning bores 61 of another adjusting block 6.

In the present invention, the combination drawer mainly comprises a plurality of dividing units 1, a plurality of retractable members 2 mounted on the dividing units 1, and a plurality of separation units 5 located between the dividing units 1.

In assembly of the combination drawer, each of the dividing units 1 is initially disposed in the drawer body 8. At this time, each of the retractable members 2 is movable on the baffle 10 of the respective dividing unit 1 to abut the inner side of the drawer body 8 so that each of the retractable members 2 co-operates with the respective dividing unit 1 to fit the length of the drawer body 8. Then, each of the separation units 5 is transversely disposed between the dividing units 1 with the hook portion 511 of the fastening member 51 of each of the separation units 5 being hooked onto the baffle 10 of the respective dividing unit 1. Thus, the inner space of the drawer body 8 is divided into multiple compartments by the dividing units 1 and the separation units 5 as shown in FIG. 1. At this time, the fastening member 51 of each of the separation units 5 is movable relative to the baffle 10 of the respective dividing unit 1 to adjust the position of each of the separation units 5 so as to adjust the size of each of the compartments of the drawer body 8.

As shown in FIG. 9, the combination drawer further comprises at least one oblique block 7 mounted on the plug 52 of the separation unit 5 to increase a length of the partition 50. The oblique block 7 has a first side provided with two locking pins 70 inserted into the positioning holes 521 of the plug 52 to affix the oblique block 7 to the plug 52 of the separation unit 5. The oblique block 7 has a second side provided with a ramp 71 abutting an oblique inner side of the drawer body 8 so that the oblique block 7 is available for an oblique drawer.

As shown in FIG. 10, the combination drawer further comprises at least one oblique block 7 mounted on the adjusting block 6 to increase a length of the partition 50. The oblique block 7 has a first side provided with two locking pins 70 inserted into the positioning bores 61 of the adjusting block 6 to affix the oblique block 7 to the adjusting block 6. The oblique block 7 has a second side provided with a ramp 71 abutting an oblique inner side of the drawer body 8 so that the oblique block 7 is available for an oblique drawer.

Accordingly, the retractable member 2 co-operates with the dividing unit 1 to fit the length of the drawer body 8 so that the total length of the retractable member 2 and the dividing unit 1 can be adjusted to fit the drawer body 8 of different sizes, thereby enhancing the versatility of the combination drawer. In addition, the inner space of the drawer body 8 is divided into multiple compartments by the dividing unit 1 and the separation unit 5, and the separation unit 5 is movable relative to the dividing unit 1 to change the position of the separation unit 5 so as to adjust the size of each of the compartments of the drawer body 8.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.

Claims

1. A combination drawer, comprising:

a drawer body;
at least one dividing unit mounted in the drawer body; and
at least one retractable member slidably mounted on the dividing unit;
wherein the dividing unit includes a baffle;
the baffle of the dividing unit has two opposite sides each provided with an elongate slideway;
the retractable member is slidably mounted on the baffle of the dividing unit;
the retractable member has two opposite sides each provided with a slide slidably mounted in the respective slideway of the baffle to guide a sliding movement of the retractable member relative to the baffle of the dividing unit;
the retractable member is movable relative to the baffle of the dividing unit to abut an inner side of the drawer body so that the baffle of the dividing unit co-operates with the retractable member to fit a length of the drawer body.

2. The combination drawer of claim 1, wherein

the baffle of the dividing unit has an interior provided with two fixing slots;
the dividing unit further includes two end caps mounted on two opposite ends of the baffle;
each of the end caps of the dividing unit has a side provided with two fixing pins inserted into the fixing slots of the baffle respectively to affix each of the end caps to the baffle.

3. The combination drawer of claim 2, wherein each of the fixing slots of the baffle is extended through the two opposite ends of the baffle.

4. The combination drawer of claim 1, wherein

the retractable member has an interior provided with a mounting chamber mounted on the baffle of the dividing unit;
the mounting chamber of the retractable member has a shape matching that of the baffle of the dividing unit.

5. The combination drawer of claim 2, wherein

each of the end caps of the dividing unit has an interior provided with two fixing holes;
the combination drawer further comprises at least one adjusting piece mounted on one of the end caps of the dividing unit to increase a length of the baffle;
the adjusting piece has a side provided with two fixing stubs inserted into the fixing holes of one of the end caps to affix the adjusting piece to one of the end caps of the dividing unit.

6. The combination drawer of claim 5, wherein

the adjusting piece has an interior provided with two fixing bores aligning with the fixing stubs respectively;
the fixing stubs of one adjusting piece are inserted into the fixing bores of another adjusting piece.

7. The combination drawer of claim 5, wherein

the combination drawer further comprises two adhesive members mounted on the two opposite ends of the baffle and bonded onto the drawer body to affix the baffle of the dividing unit to the drawer body;
the adjusting piece and the retractable member are located at the two opposite ends of the baffle respectively;
one of the adhesive members is mounted on the retractable member;
the other one of the adhesive members is mounted on the adjusting piece.

8. The combination drawer of claim 1, wherein

the combination drawer further comprises at least one separation unit mounted in the drawer body and connected with the dividing unit;
the separation unit includes:
a partition;
a fastening member mounted on a first end of the partition and connected with the dividing unit; and
a plug mounted on a second end of the partition;
the fastening member of the separation unit has an upper end provided with a hook portion hooked onto the baffle of the dividing unit;
the fastening member of the separation unit has a surface provided with a guide rail slidably mounted in the respective slideway of the baffle to guide a sliding movement of the fastening member of the separation unit relative to the baffle of the dividing unit.

9. The combination drawer of claim 8, wherein

the partition of the separation unit is perpendicular to the baffle of the dividing unit and has two opposite sides each provided with an elongate guiding groove;
the guide rail of the fastening member is aligned with the guiding groove of the partition;
when a first separation unit is connected with a second separation unit which is perpendicular to the first separation unit, the hook portion of the fastening member of the first separation unit is hooked onto the partition of the second separation unit, and the guide rail of the fastening member of the first separation unit is slidable in the guiding groove of the partition of the second separation unit.

10. The combination drawer of claim 8, wherein

the partition of the separation unit has an interior provided with two locating channels;
the fastening member of the separation unit has a side provided with two locating pins inserted into the locating channels of the partition to affix the fastening member to the partition;
the plug of the separation unit has a side provided with two locating tubes inserted into the locating channels of the partition to affix the plug to the partition.

11. The combination drawer of claim 10, wherein each of the locating channels of the partition is extended through the first end and the second end of the partition.

12. The combination drawer of claim 8, wherein

the plug of the separation unit has an interior provided with two positioning holes;
the combination drawer further comprises at least one adjusting block mounted on the plug of the separation unit to increase a length of the partition;
the adjusting block has a side provided with two positioning pins inserted into the positioning holes of the plug to affix the adjusting block to the plug of the separation unit.

13. The combination drawer of claim 12, wherein

the adjusting block has an interior provided with two positioning bores aligning with the positioning pins respectively;
the positioning pins of one adjusting block are inserted into the positioning bores of another adjusting block.

14. The combination drawer of claim 8, wherein

the plug of the separation unit has an interior provided with two positioning holes;
the combination drawer further comprises at least one oblique block mounted on the plug of the separation unit to increase a length of the partition;
the oblique block has a first side provided with two locking pins inserted into the positioning holes of the plug to affix the oblique block to the plug of the separation unit;
the oblique block has a second side provided with a ramp.

15. The combination drawer of claim 12, wherein

the adjusting block has an interior provided with two positioning bores;
the combination drawer further comprises at least one oblique block mounted on the adjusting block to increase a length of the partition;
the oblique block has a first side provided with two locking pins inserted into the positioning bores of the adjusting block to affix the oblique block to the adjusting block;
the oblique block has a second side provided with a ramp.

16. The combination drawer of claim 8, wherein

the combination drawer comprises a plurality of dividing units, a plurality of retractable members mounted on the dividing units, and a plurality of separation units located between the dividing units;
each of the separation units is transversely disposed between the dividing units.
