Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates generally to a chair and more particularly, to a support cushion that can be used as a chair backrest or chair seat of the chair.

2. Description of the Related Art

The back or seat of a conventional chair is generally made of foam covered with leather to provide sitting comfort. Because of lack of ventilation of the leather-covered foam, a user may feel muggy when sitting on the conventional chair for a long time. In order to solve this problem, a breathable mesh fabric is widely used to substitute for the leather-covered foam.

When the mesh back or seat of the chair is manufactured, a plurality of screws are fastened to an outer frame through a mesh fabric and an inner strip for assembling the outer frame, the inner strip and the mesh strip together. However, it is inconvenient for a manufacturer to fasten the screws one by one; and further, after fastened to the outer frame, the screws will be exposed outside to contribute to the disproportionate appearance of the chair and increase risk of damaging the user's hand. Therefore, it is desired to provide an improved mesh back or seat for a chair.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention has been accomplished in view of the above-noted circumstances. It is therefore the primary objective of the present invention to provide a support cushion for a chair backrest or chair seat, which is easy to be assembled and has a smooth appearance.

To achieve the above-mentioned objective, the support cushion provided by the present invention comprises an outer frame having an insertion groove extending along an edge thereof and a plurality of first hook portions spacedly located in the insertion groove, an inner strip inserted into the insertion groove of the outer frame and having a plurality of second hook portions engaged with the first hook portions of the outer frame respectively, and a mesh fabric having an edge thereof connected with the inner strip. By means of the engagement between the first hook portions of the outer frame and the second hook portions of the inner strip, the support cushion of the present invention is assembled easily, and provided with a smooth appearance after assembled.

Further scope of applicability of the present invention will become apparent from the detailed description given hereinafter. However, it should be understood that the detailed description and specific examples, while indicating preferred embodiments of the invention, are given by way of illustration only, since various changes and modifications within the spirit and scope of the invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from this detailed description.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The present invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below and the accompanying drawings which are given by way of illustration only, and thus are not limitative of the present invention, and wherein:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a chair equipped with a support cushion in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention;

FIG. 2 is a perspective view of a support cushion in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention;

FIG. 3 is an exposed view of a support cushion in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention; and

FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of a part of a support cushion in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a support cushion 20 provided by a preferred embodiment of the present invention can be used as a chair backrest or chair seat of a chair 10. For concise illustration of the present invention, the support cushion 20 is realized as the chair backrest in this embodiment. As shown in FIG. 3, the support cushion 20 comprises an outer frame 30, an inner strip 40, and a mesh fabric 50.

The outer frame 30 includes a frame body 31 and a plurality of fasteners 36. The frame body 31 has an insertion groove 32 extending along an edge thereof, and a plurality of retaining portions 34 spacedly arranged along the edge of the insertion groove 32. The fasteners 36 each are fastened to one of the retaining portions 34 by two screws 362 and each have a first hook portion 38 located in the insertion groove 32, as shown in FIG. 4.

The inner strip 40 is inserted into the insertion groove 32 of the outer frame 30 and provided with a plurality of second hook portions 42 engaged with the first hook portions 38 of the outer frame 30 respectively, as shown in FIG. 4.

The mesh fabric 50 has a periphery edge thereof sewed to the inner strip 40 to provide sufficient support for a user by means of its elasticity as well as breathable and comfortable function to a user.

As indicated above, when assembling the inner strip 40 with the outer frame 30, a manufacturer inserts the inner strip 40 into the insertion groove 32 of the outer frame 30, and then forces the second hook portions 42 of inner strip 40 and the first hook portions 38 of the outer frame 30 to be engaged with each other, thereby finishing the assembly of the support cushion 20 of the present invention. Thus it can be seen that the support cushion 20 of the present invention is quick and easy to be assembled, and provides a smooth appearance by hiding the fasteners 36 inside the outer frame 30 after assembled. On the other hand, a protecting strip 60 can be attached to the outer frame 30 along the edge of the insertion groove 32 and located between the mesh fabric 50 and the fasteners 36 for preventing the mesh fabric 50 from being cut by the screws 362.

The invention being thus described, it will be obvious that the same may be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the following claims.
