Description
BACKGROUND

1. Technical Field

The exemplary disclosure relates to cases for portable electronic devices, particularly, to a protective case for protecting portable electronic devices.

2. Description of Related Art

Protective cases are used to protect portable electronic devices of many different types and configurations, including but not limited to PDAs, tablet style personal computer (tablet PC), laptop computer, notebook, and personal stereos, thereby the display of the portable electronic device can being protected when it need not to be used. However, typical protective cases a complicated structure as a result, it is difficult to manufacture and use them.

Therefore, there is room for improvement within the art.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Many aspects of the multifunctional case can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the multifunctional case.

FIG. 1 is a schematic view of a protective case according to an exemplary embodiment.

FIG. 2 is an exploded view of the protective case of FIG. 1.

FIG. 3 is similar to FIG. 2, but viewing from another aspect.

FIG. 4 is a cross sectional and partially enlarged view of the protective case of FIG. 1 along the line of IV-IV.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

FIGS. 1 and 2 show an exemplary embodiment of a protective case 100. The case 100 is used to receive and protect a portable electronic device 200 like shown in FIGS. 1 and 4. The portable electronic device 200 includes a display 210.

Referring to FIGS. 2 and 3, the case 100 includes a main body 10 and a strengthening plate 20. The main body 11 is made of a resilient material, such as a silicone or thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU). The main body 10 includes a main plate 11, a peripheral wall 12 and a recess 14. The main plate 11 includes an outer surface 111 and an inner surface 112 opposite to the outer surface 111. The peripheral wall 12 is arched, and protrudes from the inner surface 112 of the main body 10 and surrounding the main plate 11. The main body 10 and the peripheral wall 12 cooperatively define a compartment 30 for accommodating the portable electronic device 200.

Referring to FIG. 4, the recess 14 is defined in the outer surface 111 for receiving the strengthening plate 20. The recess 14 is defined by a main wall 143 and a sidewall 141 protruding from the main wall 143. A flange 142 protrudes from the sidewall 141 and is spaced from the main wall 143 so a latching groove 145 is defined between the flange 142 and the maim wall.

A latching block 22 protrudes from an edge of the strengthening plate 20. The latching block 22 is latched in the latching groove 145 to latch the strengthening plate 20 in the recess 14. The strengthening plate 20 is harder than the case 100 to strengthen the hardness of the case 100. In this exemplary embodiment, the strengthening plate 20 may be made of glass.

In use, the main body 10 is wrapped to the portable electronic device 200, i.e., the portable electronic device 200 is received in the compartment 30. At this time, the peripheral wall 12 is latched with the portable electronic device 200, the main body 10 and the strengthening plate 20 are laminated on the display 210 in turn, to shield and protect the display 210 from damaging. Additionally, the peripheral wall 12 encloses fully a peripheral edge of the potable electronic device 200 to prevent impurities, such as gust or water, from going into the display 210.

Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present embodiments have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of structures and functions of various embodiments, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the present disclosure to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
