DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ILLUSTRATIVE EMBODIMENTS

Various aspects of the illustrative embodiments will be described using terms commonly employed by those skilled in the art to convey the substance of their work to others skilled in the art. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced with only some of the described aspects. For purposes of explanation, specific numbers, materials and configurations are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the illustrative embodiments. However, it will be apparent to one skilled in the art that the present invention may be practiced without the specific details. In other instances, well-known features are omitted or simplified in order not to obscure the illustrative embodiments.

Various operations will be described as multiple discrete operations, in turn, in a manner that is most helpful in understanding the present invention. However, the order of description should not be construed as to imply that these operations are necessarily order dependent. In particular, these operations need not be performed in the order of presentation.

The phrase “in one embodiment” is utilized repeatedly. The phrase generally does not refer to the same embodiment, however, it may. The terms “comprising”, “having” and “including” are synonymous, unless the context dictates otherwise.

FIG. 1A illustrates a front environmental view of a trash receptacle dustpan lid 100 disposed on a trash receptacle TR with a top T, according to an embodiment of the present invention.

The trash receptacle dustpan lid 100 is typically disposed on top T of a trash receptacle TR to serve as a cover for the trash receptacle TR. Additionally the trash receptacle dustpan lid 100 can also be removed to be utilized exclusively as a dustpan to receive any swept or pushed onto material or debris such as dust, dirt, and other suitable dustpan receivable material. The trash receptacle dustpan lid 100 is also stackable upon itself to facilitate packaging and shipping.

The trash receptacle dustpan lid 100 includes a dust pan portion 110, a lid 120, a lid handle 130, a leading dustpan edge 140 and a plurality of ridged reinforced webbing 150. The dust pan portion 110 has a distal end 112 that receives any swept or pushed onto material or debris such as dust, dirt, and other suitable dustpan receivable material. The dust pan portion 110 illustrated in FIG. 1A is a top 114 of the dust pan portion 110 and additional details on the dust pan portion 110 are provided in FIG. 1B and its description. The lid 120 has a top surface 122 and is removably placed and secured on the top T of the trash receptacle TR and prevents any garbage or debris from coming out of the trash receptacle TR as well as protecting and covering the contents of the trash receptacle TR. The lid 120 illustrated in FIG. 1A is the top surface 122 of the lid 120 and additional details on the lid 120 are provided in FIG. 1B and its description. The lid handle 130 is disposed on the top surface 122 of the lid 120 and can be disposed on any suitable location on the top surface 122. The leading dustpan edge 140 is disposed across the distal end 112 of the dust pan portion 110 and as previously described receives any swept or pushed onto material or debris such as dust, dirt, small debris and other suitable dustpan receivable material. The leading dustpan edge 140 has two sides 142 and has a beveled edge 144 that better suitably receives any swept or pushed onto material or debris such as dust, dirt, and other suitable dustpan receivable material onto the dust pan portion 110 than a traditional leading dustpan edge 140. The plurality of ridged reinforced webbing 150 is adjacently attached to the two sides 142 of the leading dustpan edge 140 and assist in receiving and directing any swept or pushed onto material or debris such as dust, dirt, and other suitable dustpan receivable material onto the dust pan portion 110.

FIG. 1B illustrates a top view of an interior facing 102 of a trash receptacle dustpan lid 100, according to an embodiment of the present invention.

The trash receptacle dustpan lid 100 includes the similar features that are described and illustrated in FIG. 1A that include the dust pan portion 110, the lid 120, the lid handle 130, the leading dustpan edge 140 and ridged reinforced webbing 150. The trash receptacle dustpan lid 100 additionally includes a dustpan handle 160, two dustpan sides 170, a webbed dustpan rear 180 and a lid perimeter edge 190. The dustpan handle 160 is disposed on the interior facing 102 and allows a user to grasp the receptacle dustpan lid 100. The two dustpan sides 170 are raised sides 172 to help contain the received debris such as dust, dirt, and other suitable dustpan receivable material within the dust pan portion 110. The webbed dustpan rear 180 is a raised webbed dustpan rear 182 to help contain the received debris such as dust, dirt, and other suitable dustpan receivable material within the dust pan portion 110. The lid perimeter edge 190 is disposed in a semi-circular shape 192 on the dust pan portion 110. The lid perimeter edge 190 assists in removably securing the trash receptacle dustpan lid 100 to the top T of the trash receptacle TR.

The trash receptacle dustpan lid is made of plastic, rubber or metal material and serves as a garbage can lid cover and can be relatively easily removed, turned over, and used as a dustpan to sweep, rake or scoop up any unwanted materials or debris. The trash receptacle dustpan lid has general a dome shape and is approximately 22½ inches in diameter, with a flared outer lip to fit a plurality of differently sized containers and receptacles. The trash receptacle dustpan lid design is well-suited for home usage, but is suitable for larger tasks which can be found in the yard, warehouses or in a place of business. The trash receptacle dustpan lid may be readily available wherever garbage cans and lids can be found in various colors, designs and sizes. The trash receptacle dustpan lid is discreetly hidden underneath a garbage can cover. The trash receptacle dustpan lid is easily accessible and features a dome shape where the user is able to easily gather dirt and debris, and when finished, return the trash receptacle dustpan lid to the top of the garbage can or trash receptacle to discard unnecessary collected materials.

The trash receptacle dustpan lid will be similar in shape to a traditional rubber or plastic garbage can lid. The trash receptacle dustpan lid has a generally domed-shape that is approximately 22¾ inches in overall diameter with an approximate 5 inch rise in the dome height. On one edge of approximately ¼ inch of the entire circumference of the trash receptacle dustpan lid will be a spade like shape which will resemble a dustpan or shovel incorporated into the dome shaped lid. The trash receptacle dustpan lid will be made of a similar plastic materials used in the manufacturing of other garbage cans.

While the present invention has been related in terms of the foregoing embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention is not limited to the embodiments described. The present invention can be practiced with modification and alteration within the spirit and scope of the appended claims. Thus, the description is to be regarded as illustrative instead of restrictive on the present invention.
