DEVICE PREVENTING FASTENER FROM HURTING PEOPLE

A device includes a housing, a support member, and a fastener. The housing defines a recess and includes a protrusion extending from a bottom of the recess. The height of the protrusion is less than a depth of the recess. The protrusion defines a fastening hole extending therethrough. The support member is retained within the housing and defines a through hole. The fastener extends through the through hole of the support member and is screwed into the fastening hole to secure the support member to the housing.

Description
BACKGROUND

1. Technical Field

The present disclosure relates to a device which prevents exposed fasteners from hurting people.

2. Description of Related Art

Fasteners may be used to mechanically join two or more parts of a device together. After assembly, a distal end of the fastener may protrude or be exposed from the device. Some one may be hurt by the exposed fastener particularly when moving the device.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

Many aspects of the embodiments can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the present disclosure. Moreover, in the drawings, like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.

FIG. 1 is an isometric view of a portion of a device according to an exemplary embodiment.

FIG. 2 is an exploded isometric view of the portion of the device of FIG. 1.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Embodiments of the present disclosure are described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Referring to FIG. 1, a portion of a device 1 according to an exemplary embodiment is illustrated. The device 1 includes a housing 10, a support member 20 retained within the housing 10, and a fastener 30 to secure the support member 20 to the housing 10. In the embodiment, the device 1 is an optical disc player.

The housing 10 includes a cover 11 and a base 12 coupled with each other. The cover 11 and the base 12 cooperatively define a receiving space A for receiving the support member 20. The receiving space A also accommodates electronic components, such as a printed circuit board (PCB) and a central processing unit (CPU). In the embodiment, the support member 30 is used to support some of the electronic components retained within the housing 10.

Referring also to FIG. 2, the cover 11 defines a recess 13 and a protrusion 14 protruding from a bottom of the recess 13. The height of the protrusion 14 is less than the depth of the recess 13. The cover 11 defines a positioning hole 16 adjacent to the protrusion 14. A fastening hole 15 runs through the protrusion 14 and the bottom of the recess 13. In the embodiment, the recess 13 and the protrusion 14 are formed by stamping.

The support member 20 defines a through hole 21 aligned with the fastening hole 15 and includes a positioning post 22 extending through the positioning hole 16.

The fastener 30 includes a head 31 and a shank 32 connected to the shank 31. The diameter of the shank 32 is less than the diameter of the shank 31. The shank 32 extends through the through hole 21 and is screwed into the fastening hole 15. Thus, the support member 20 is fixed to the housing 10 by the fastener 30. The recess 13 and the protrusion 14 thus prevent a distal end of the fastener 30 from being open or exposed and hurting people.

While various embodiments have been described and illustrated, the disclosure is not to be constructed as being limited thereto. Various modifications can be made to the embodiments by those skilled in the art without departing from the true spirit and scope of the disclosure as defined by the appended claims.
