Wraparound Garment

A wraparound garment has a designated pouch section with a top opening. Two elongated, relatively wide arm members extend from opposite sides of the top opening. The arm members can be wrapped around a wearer's body to encircle and/or cover the shoulders, neck, waist, back, or breast areas. The length of the arm members and their widths ensure that the garment can be wrapped in a wide variety of configurations.

Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a unique article of clothing, and more particularly, to a versatile wraparound garment.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Decorative scarves of varying lengths are well known versatile apparel which can be wrapped and tied in a variety of configurations, normally around the neck of the wearer. However, for the most part such scarves and similar type wraps are restricted to the neck and sometimes the wearer's shoulders. Scarves which are not strictly warn for warmth, are most often employed as fashion accessories in order to enhance the appearance of the wearer. They are generally not worn for utilitarian purposes.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is thus the object of the present invention to provide a versatile wraparound garment which is designed not only to be used as a decorative accessory, but also serves utilitarian purposes in a variety of different configurations, e.g. as a scarf, sundress, coverall, etc.

These objects are accomplished by the present invention, a wraparound garment comprising a designated pouch section with a top opening.

The novel features which are considered as characteristic of the invention e set forth in particular in the appended claims. The invention, itself, however, both as to its design, construction and use, together with additional features and advantages thereof, are best understood upon review of the following detailed description with reference to the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the present invention.

FIG. 2 is one example of the manner of use of the present invention.

FIG. 3 is another example of the manner of use of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Wraparound garment 1 comprises pouch section 2 having front section 4, having a given dimensional width, connected back section 6. It is contemplated that front section 4 and back section 6 comprise lightweight, sturdy fabric material pieces sewn together around their edges or they can consist of one continuous piece of material sewn at their bottom edges. Either way, top opening 8 has a given circumference and is located between front section 4 and back section 6 of pouch section 2.

Elongated arm members 10 and 12 are attached to and extend from diametrically opposite sides of top opening 8 of pouch section 2. Optimally, arm members 10 and 12 are fabricated from the same fabric material as pouch section 2, but equivalent lightweight material can also be used. Arm members 10 and 12 are advantageously sewn at the sides of opening 8.

It is contemplated that arm members 10 and 12 will each optimally range in lengths between four feet and eight feet or more, in order to provide sufficient length of material to allow the wearer to wrap and encircle a number of areas of her body. This length should be at least four times the dimensional width of front section 4 of pouch section 2. Each arm member 10 and 12 also has a dimensional width of at least one quarter the circumference of opening 8. From a practical standpoint, this width should be at least four inches in order to ensure proper coverage of areas of the wearer's body when garment 2 is wrapped in its many various configurations.

Garment 1 is designed to be wrapped and encircled around different areas of the body of the wearer 20, including the neck, shoulders, back, waist, breasts, stomach, and even the head. Two examples of the many varieties of configurations garment 1 can take are shown in FIGS. 2 and 3.

In FIG. 2, pouch section 2 is initially positioned, optimally, along the wearer's waist. Arm members 10 and 12 are wrapped around the body of the wearer such that they cover the breast areas, encircle the neck, and are tied or otherwise secured at the neck or lower back. As shown in FIG. 3, pouch section 2 hangs from the wearer's waist while members 10 and 12 are wrapped around the wearer's waist, breasts and shoulders, at the back.

It is apparent that a single wraparound garment of the present invention can be configured to create many different and unique looks. The number of configurations in which the garment can be utilized is limited only by the imagination and preference of the wearer.

Certain novel features and components of this invention are disclosed in detail in order to make the invention clear in at least one form thereof. However, it is to be clearly understood that the invention as disclosed is not necessarily limited to the exact form and details as disclosed, since it is apparent that various modifications and changes may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Claims

1. A wraparound garment for a wearer comprising:

a pouch section comprising a front section having a given dimensional width, a back section, and a top opening between the front section and the back section;
first elongated arm means extending from a first side of the top opening of the pouch section for wrapping and encircling different areas of the garment's wearer and for securing the pouch section on the wearer, whereby said first arm means is to be wrapped and encircled in a variety of configurations on the wearer;
second elongated arms means extending from a second side of the top opening, diametrically opposite from said first side, for wrapping and encircling different areas of the wearer and for securing the pouch section on the wearer, whereby said second arm means is to be wrapped and encircled in a variety of configurations on the wearer in conjunction with the first arm means; and
said first and second arm means each having a dimensional length of at least four times the dimensional width of the front section of the pouch section in order to permit the wrapping and encircling of different areas of the wearer in said variety of configurations.

2. The wraparound garment as in claim 1 wherein the top opening has a given circumference and said first and second arm means each have dimensional widths of at least one quarter the circumference of the top opening of the pouch section.
