Abstract

The invention provides a specially designed hose attachment for bath tub nozzles, with the device boasting an integrated dispenser through which liquid bath products are easily dispensed. The invention effectively eliminates the loud splashing noise associated with filling a bath tub as well as provide a simple means of dispensing bath products into the bath as the tub is filled.

Description

CLAIM OF PRIORITY

This patent application claims priority under 35 USC 119 (e) (1) from U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 61/689,574 filed Jun. 8, 2012, of common inventorship herewith entitled, “Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser.”

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention pertains to the field of bathtub plumbing, and more specifically to the field of bathtub filling nozzles.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The prior art has put forth several designs for bathtub filling nozzles. Among these are:

U.S. Pat. No. 4,586,204 to Phillip D. Daniels describes a recirculating bathtub having a single manifold extending along each side of the tub to supply water from a pump and aspirated air to a plurality of tub inlets. Each manifold comprises integrally molded, preferably blow molded, air and water conduits isolated from one another except at nozzle housings integrally formed in the water conduit and vented to the air conduit. A nozzle is positioned in each housing and is sealed in the housing to receive water from the water conduit and air from the air conduit. The integrally formed conduits and nozzle, housings eliminate the need for clamped or welded joints, and it is unnecessary to drill or open the manifolds for nozzle installation or air. passage. The pump and the manifolds are self-draining into the tub when the tub is emptied.

U.S. Pat. No. 6,877,171 to Hideo Shimizu describes a blow off nozzle type bathtub with illumination according to the present invention comprises a cap having a plurality of nozzles for blowing off a fluid and for irradiating an illumination light in a head portion and having an inside thereof formed in a hollow shape, a fluid supply member having a distal end opening portion thereof connected to the hollow inside of the cap and a proximal end opening portion thereof connected to a fluid supply source which is subjected to a drive control, a light guide member which has an end surface of a distal end portion thereof directed to said hollow inside of said cap and an end surface of a proximal end portion thereof directed to an illumination light source which is subjected to a drive control, and a fixing member for fixing and supporting the fluid supply member and the light guide member on a bottom wall of a bathtub vessel on a plurality of nozzles which are formed in the bottom wall of the bathtub vessel as through holes.

U.S. Patent 2007/0277891 to Gail B. Frankel describes an apparatus for diverting faucet fluid flow. One embodiment of such apparatus includes a first spout, a second spout, means for interfacing the first and second spouts to a faucet, and means for diverting fluid flow from the faucet to a selected one of the first and second spouts.

None of these prior art references describe the present invention.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is an object of the present invention to provide a hose attachment for a bathtub filling nozzle that dispenses liquid bath products into bath water being drawn and to minimize the sound of the water splashing into the tub.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Perhaps nothing is so calming at the end of a hectic day than soaking in a hot bath. Closing one's eyes and lying back while a current of warm water circulates around the body, spending a few moments of quiet time relaxing in the bathtub truly refreshes one's body, mind and spirit. Because soaking in the bathtub is so relaxing, many consumers take steps to make this time even more enjoyable. Lighting scented candles, playing soft music and filling the tub with sweet smelling salts and bubbling oils are popular ways in which consumers try to make the most of their bath time. For many consumers, basking in the soothing waters of a tub offers a relaxing start or calming end to a hectic day.

The present invention, hereinafter referred to as the Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser, is a specially designed hose attachment for bath tub nozzles, with the device boasting an integrated dispenser through which liquid bath products are easily dispensed. The present invention effectively eliminates the loud splashing noise associated with filling a bath tub as well as provide a simple means of dispensing bath products into the bath as the tub is filled. The Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser is a specially designed bath fixture comprised of an elongated hose attachment 20 configured expressly to allow a gentle and quiet water flow into the tub and prevent the excessive splashing noise associated with traditional bath faucets. The Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser contains an integrated dispenser mechanism 24 with which various liquid bath products are evenly dispensed into the bath water as the bathtub is filled. The Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser is manufactured of plastic, rubber or comparable heavy duty and water resistant material. The Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser is Comprised of an elongated and open ended hose on the proximal end of which a fitted cap like sheath 22 is integrally attached. This sheath fits snugly over the existing bath faucet head, encompassing the open mouth of the faucet and extending up over the sides and top of the faucet, creating a fitting. This fitting is held in place with a tight suctioned seal, allowing a free flow of water through the device while securing it in place during use. Positioned on the top of the fitting near the front of the device is a dispenser mechanism 24. Containing a hollow reservoir to be filled with the user's favorite liquid bath soap, bubble bath or even soothing bath salts, this dispenser features a removable cap 30 covering containing contents within the reservoir once filled to capacity. In one embodiment, the cap snaps onto the opening, shown in FIG. 2. In an alternative embodiment, the cap is threaded and screwed into the reservoir with corresponding threaded fittings or configured as a plug. The open base of this reservoir is connected to the hose attachment, and as products are released from the reservoir, they are dispersed into the tub in conjunction with the bath water, ensuring even distribution. The hose is manufactured with a flexible rubber or plastic material and measures several feet in length. Designed to rest flat on the bottom of the tub, the hose has a flattened side 26 which rests oh the bottom of the tub, further this hose contains a tapered nozzle 28 that releases water in a gentle manner. The Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser is available in a variety of neutral hues to accommodate different bath decors.

Using the Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser is very simple and straight forward. A one step installation, application of the Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser involves sliding a sheath fitting located on the proximal end of the unit over the open end of an existing bath faucet head. The sheath is positioned so sides of the fitting encircle the base of the faucet head completely with the top of the fitting extending up to the top of the faucet head. The attached hose is positioned downward vertically and then outward horizontally to rest along the tub floor. The user removes the cap covering from the soap reservoir and dispenser, and fills the reservoir with their favorite liquid or dissolvable bath product. After replacing the cap, the Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser is ready for use. Turning on the bath faucet, the user adjusts the water temperature as desired. Water is dispersed through the faucet head and into the attached Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser and the bath product contained within the dispenser is released directly into the bath water, evenly blending throughout. Water is released through the distal end of the hose attachment directly into the bottom of the tub, eliminating a loud splashing noise which occurs when water drops several inches from a faucet into a tub basin. With the tub quietly filled to capacity, the user climbs into the bath and enjoys a relaxing soak. Following the bath, the tub is drained and cleaned per usual, while the Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser is left in place until used again.

The Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser provides consumers with a practical bath accessory that enables them to quietly fill their tub with water prior to taking a bath. A cleverly designed bath fixture that is easily secured to an existing faucet and releases water through an elongated hose directly onto the floor of the tub, using a Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser effectively eliminates loud splashing noises associated with filling a bath. With a quiet flow of water into the tub, a user also easily hears ambient noise, ensuring they hear an important phone call, a call of a child, or a knock on the door. Providing a simple means of evenly distributing cleansing bath products throughout bath water, the Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser enables a user to enjoy a truly pampering experience, in a convenient and easy fashion. Eliminating the frustrating scenario of pouring bath salts or other liquid bath products into the tub only to find that they have pooled in one area of the tub and are not evenly dispersed, the Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser infuses these products throughout bath water. Easily installed, consumers will appreciate the simplicity with which this product is applied and utilized. Durably constructed and affordably priced, the Quiet Bath Filler N Dispenser is an invaluable commodity in any bathroom and will withstand years of repeated use.

Although this invention has been described with respect to specific embodiments, it is not intended to be limited thereto and various modifications which will become apparent to the person of ordinary skill in the art are intended to fall within the spirit and scope of the invention as described herein taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and the appended claims.

Claims

1. A hose attachment device for a bathtub nozzle that dispenses liquid bath products into bath water being drawn, and minimizes the splashing noise of water filling the tub, comprising:

an elongated hose attachment configured expressly to allow a gentle and quiet water flow into the tub and prevent the excessive splashing noise associated with traditional bath faucets; further comprising an integrated dispenser mechanism with which various liquid bath products are evenly dispensed into the bath water as the bathtub is filled.

2. The hose attachment device of claim 1 manufactured of plastic, rubber or comparable heavy duty and water resistant material.

The hose attachment device of claim 1 wherein the device is comprised of an elongated and open ended hose on the proximal end of which a fitted cap like sheath is integrally attached, and wherein the sheath fits snugly over the existing bath faucet head, encompassing the open mouth of the faucet and extending up over the sides and top of the faucet, creating a fitting.

4. The hose attachment device of claim 3 wherein the fitting is held in place with a tight suctioned seal, allowing a free flow of water through the device while securing it in place during use.

The hose attachment device of claim 1 wherein the integrated dispenser mechanism is positioned on the top of the fitting near the front of the device, wherein the dispenser mechanism contains a hollow reservoir to be filled with the user's favorite liquid bath soap, bubble bath or even soothing bath salts, further wherein the dispenser comprises a removable cap covering reservoir contents within the reservoir once filled to capacity.

6. The hose attachment device of claim 5, wherein the removable cap snaps onto the opening of the reservoir.

The hose attachment device of claim 5, wherein the removable cap is threaded and screwed into the reservoir with corresponding threaded fittings or configured as a plug, and wherein the open base of the reservoir is connected to the hose attachment, and as products are released from the reservoir, they are dispersed into the tub in conjunction with the bath water, ensuring even distribution.

8. The hose attachment device of claim 1, wherein the hose is manufactured with a flexible rubber or plastic material and measures several feet in length.

9. The hose attachment device of claim 8, wherein the hose is designed to rest flat on the bottom of the tub, further wherein the hose contains a tapered nozzle that releases water in a gentle manner.

10. The hose attachment device of claim 1, wherein the device is available in a variety of neutral hues to accommodate different bath decors.
