DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a two-part undergarment primarily designed for use by males under clothing such as a pair of pants or jeans. The undergarment includes a first part 10 having a front portion 12. The first part 12 is adapted to surround the torso of the wearer as shown in FIGS. 3, 4 and 5. First part 10 can take a form similar to conventional pants or jeans with long leg portions 14 designed to cover the legs of the wearer, as shown in FIGS. 1-5, or may alternatively take the form of conventional shorts 10a with short leg portions 16, as shown in FIG. 6.

In either embodiment, the first part is preferably made of material suitable for use as an undergarment intended to be worn under clothing. Accordingly, the first part should be made of light-weight material, contoured to fit snuggly on the body. The material should be thin and flexible for maximum comfort. It should allow heat and moisture to escape from the body. It may be also be formed of stretchable or expandable material such that it does not unduly restrict the movement of the wearer.

First part 10, 10a is provided with an opening 16 in front portion 12. Opening 16 is located such that when the first part is situated on the wearer the opening will be aligned with the genitals of the wearer. Preferably, opening 16 is formed by cutting away a section of the front portion 12, folding the free edge of the undergarment proximate the opening back over itself and then stitching the folded edge to create an opening with a uniform border. A small strip 18 of stretch velvet or other material can be fixed to the folded border, if desired. Opening 16 is shown as being round but could be any suitable size and shape.

A second undergarment part 20 is adapted to be worn over first part 10, 10a, as illustrated in FIGS. 2 through 6. Second part 20 preferably has a bikini bottom-like shape. Second part 20 has a front portion 22 adapted to cover first part opening 16 when the second part is situated over the first part.

The upper portion of second part 20 includes a waistband 24 which supports front portion 22. Waistband 24 includes a first waistband section 24a, which extends across the front of second part 20 above front portion 22 and along portions of the sides of the second part, and a second waistband section 24b, which extends along the upper portion of the rear of second part 20 and along portions of the sides of the second part. Together, waistband sections 24a and 24b encircle the body and first part 20 when the ends of first waistband section 24a are secured to the ends of waistband section 24b. Either or both of the waistband sections 24a, 24b may be formed of elastic material.

Referring now to FIGS. 4 and 5, means are provided for securing second part 20 over first part 10, 10a in a manner that allows easy removal of the second part by grabbing first waistband portion 24a and pulling the first waistband portion 24a in a direction away from the wearer to detach the ends of first waistband portion 24a from the ends of second waistband portion 24b. The securing means may include any suitable type of easily releasable fastener which will open as a result of the application of a relatively small force on the second part waistband in direction away from front portion 12 of first part 10, 10a.

As seen in FIG. 4, one preferred embodiment of the releasable fastened may take the form a male snap 28a and a female snap 28b. FIG. 5 illustrates another preferred embodiment of the releasable securing means which takes the form of mating hook and loop strips or sections 30a and 30b.

As is best seen in FIG. 1, second part 20 also includes a section 26. Section 26 is adapted to extend between the legs of the wearer, from front portion 22 to second waistband section 24b, when second part 20 is situated over first part 10, 10a.

Referring now to FIG. 3, that drawing illustrates that the two-part undergarment of the present invention is designed to be worn under and in combination with the wearer's clothing, such a pants or jeans 32. The removal of pants or jeans 32 exposes the two-part undergarment. However, the genitals of the wearer are not revealed until second part 20 is removed. The first part 10, 10a need not be removed to reveal the genitals because opening 16 in the first part is aligned with the genitals.

It will now be understood that the present invention relates to an undergarment which includes a pant-like part having a front portion with an opening which is adopted to surround the torso of the wearer, a bikini bottom-shaped part adapted to be situated over the pant-like part, covering the opening therein, and means for releasably securing the bikini bottom-shaped part over the pant-like part such that the bikini bottom-like part can be removed from the pant-like part to expose the opening in the pant-like part by application of force on the bikini-bottom-like part in a direction away from the pant-like part.

The bikini bottom-shaped part includes a portion adapted to extend between the legs of the wearer, from the front portion of the bikini bottom-shaped part to the waistband thereof.

The invention also includes the wearer's clothing such as a pair of pants or jeans. The two-part undergarment of the present invention is designed to be worn under and in combination with the wearer's clothing.

While only a limited number of preferred embodiments of the present invention have been disclosed for purposes of illustration, it is obvious that many modifications and variations could be made thereto. It is intended to cover all of those modifications and variations which fall within the scope of the present invention, as defined by the following claims.
