A pocket system for wearing an audio player comprising a pocket on a garment, where the pocket is capable of securely storing the audio player during use; and an eyelet opening above the pocket, where the eyelet opening channels an ear phone wire from the audio player toward a neck portion of the garment. The garment includes a set of loops on a top surface of the garment, where the set of loops guide the ear phone wire from the audio player. Further, the garment may include a hole within a neck portion, where the hole threads the ear phone wire.

This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application Ser. No. 61/869,215 filed on Aug. 23, 2013.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of Invention

The present invention relates a pocket system for storage of audio players such as a MP3 player.

2. Description of Related Art

Many individuals utilize MP3 players, such as the iPod®, for entertainment purposes. Many times these devices may vary in size but normally are placed in the individual's pocket or in some instances may be worn in an elastic holder during a workout. The MP3 player is typically a small square device that includes a wire extending from the player, and includes earplugs for placement into the user's ears. The use of these devices is widespread for individuals who may be conducting exercise or workouts, but many travelers and commuters also use MP3 players for listening to music or other audio files in a portable manner.

One drawback to the use of these devices is that the user typically uses earplugs that include wires that extend from the player. The wire can sometimes become cumbersome getting tangled in the individual's clothing or possibly just simply be bothersome during use. Therefore it would be advantageous to have a system that could be incorporated with a garment that will enable the storage of a MP3 player or iPod®. Techniques could further be implemented to secure the audio wires that extend from the iPod® or MP3 players.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the prior art, the general purpose of the present invention is to provide a pocket system for wearing an audio player, configured to include all of the advantages of the prior art, and to overcome the drawbacks inherent therein.

Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a pocket on a garment, where the pocket receives an audio player. The associated wire is then threaded through an eyelet above the pocket to contain the wire within the shirt during use.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a pocket system for a garment, where the pocket includes a set of loops along the top surface of the garment to guide the wire from the audio player towards the user's ears.

To achieve the above objects, in an aspect of the present invention, a pocket system for wearing an audio player is described comprising a pocket on a garment, where the pocket is capable of securely storing the audio player during use; and an eyelet opening above the pocket, where the eyelet opening channels an ear phone wire from the audio player toward a neck portion of the garment. The garment includes a set of loops on a top surface of the garment, where the set of loops guide the ear phone wire from the audio player. Further, the garment may include a hole within a neck portion, where the hole threads the ear phone wire.

These together with other aspects of the present invention, along with the various features of novelty that characterize the present invention, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed hereto and form a part of this present invention. For a better understanding of the present invention, its operating advantages, and the specific objects attained by its uses, reference should be made to the accompanying drawings and descriptive matter in which there are illustrated exemplary embodiments of the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present invention is a pocket system for use on garments that provides a means to store a MP3 player, such as an iPod®. In addition to the pocket, an opening or eyelet is provided near each pocket for the placement of the audio wires that are associated with the iPod®. The audio wires lace through the eyelet and therefore are placed in a more secure position and out of the user's way. The eyelet system includes embodiments suitable for various types of garments. Further the system may also include the use of loops on the exterior of the garment to secure the audio wires associated with the iPod®. First with respect to FIG. 1, a t-shirt 20 that utilizes audio player pockets 23, 23a in accordance with the present invention is depicted. The pocket system used on the t-shirt 20 provides two breast pockets 23 and a pocket 23a on each sleeve of the shirt 20. These pockets 23, 23a provide a means to insert and store an MP3 player or audio player in a secured position. The pockets 23, 23a may include a closure 25 to ensure that the audio player remains within the pocket 23 during movement. The closure 25 may be a hook and loop fastener, button, snap or the like for easy fastening and unfastening.

The system in accordance with the present invention is very convenient for a workout shirt and therefore eliminates the need to have strap storage of the audio player during a workout. The user simply places the audio player in one of the selected pockets and then may feed the wires that are associated with the headphones through an eyelet 24, 24a to allow for placement of the wire under the shirt during the physical activity. This technique places the wire in a secured position and decreases the likelihood that the wire becomes tangled within the equipment during the workout. The opposite end of the wires may be threaded through a hole 27 within the neck of the shirt 20. The hole 27 may be positioned on the front or back of the neck depending on how the user prefers to wear their ear buds or headphones.

A second embodiment of the pocket system in accordance with the present invention is shown in FIG. 2. A t-shirt 30 is depicted with two breast pockets 32. The t-shirt 30 is sleeveless therefore only two pockets 32 are shown across the breast area of the shirt 30. The pocket 32 includes an eyelet 34 as shown in FIG. 2. In one pocket 32 is an audio player 52. Leading from the audio player 52 is a wire 50 that is led under the shirt 30. The wire 50 may then emerge from the neck of the shirt 30 or thread through a hole 37 positioned within the neck.

In an alternative embodiment, FIG. 3 depicts the t-shirt 20 including loops 28 over the top surface of the t-shirt 20. The loops 28 provide a guide and stabilizing mechanism for the wire 50 extending from the audio player 52. The loops 28 may be positioned atop the breast portion of the shirt, or may be positioned along the shoulder. The embodiment shown in FIG. 3 is similar to the embodiment of FIG. 1 however the further inclusion of the external loops 28 allows for the placement of the wire 50 extending from the audio player 52 to be secured in a stationary position on the outside of the shirt. Therefore preventing distraction or tangling of the wire 50 while wearing the audio player 52.

FIG. 4 depicts a sweater 22 or jacket with a hood 42. At the back of the hood 42 a hole 47 is provided. The pocket arrangement of the sweater 40 includes a pocket 43 and eyelet 44 and similar pockets provided on the opposite arm and chest areas in accordance with the present invention. The embodiment of FIG. 4 further delineates an opening for the hole 47 at the rear portion of the sweater 40. The rear hole 47 may be used to lead a wire through the opening and then allow for placement of the earphones into user's ears under the hood of the sweater 40. Either embodiment provides a pocket system that is used for any type of MP3 player or similar audio devices.

The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The exemplary embodiment was chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated.

Claims

1. A pocket system for wearing an audio player comprising:

a. at least one pocket on a garment, where each pocket is capable of securely storing the audio player during use; and
b. a means to channel an audio wire positioned above each pocket, where means to channel guides the audio wire from the audio player towards a neck portion of the garment.

2. The pocket system according to claim 1, where the means to channel is an eyelet opening.

3. The pocket system according to claim 1, where the means to channel is a set of loops on a top surface of the garment.

4. The pocket system according to claim 1, where the garment includes a hole within the neck portion, where the hole threads the ear phone wire.

5. The pocket system according to claim 1, where the pocket includes a closure, where the closure secures the audio player within the pocket.

6. The pocket system according to claim 6, where the closure is one of at least a hook and loop fastener, a snap or a button.

7. The pocket system according to claim 1, where the garment includes at least one breast pocket to receive the audio player.

8. The pocket system according to claim 1, where the garment includes at least one arm pocket.

9. The pocket system according to claim 1, where the garment is a workout t-shirt.

10. The pocket system according to claim 1, where the garment is a sweater.

11. The pocket system according to claim 1, where the garment is a jacket.
