BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The invention relates generally to cleaning supplies and accessories and in particular to a cleaning cloth with an abrasive surface. Housecleaning isn't the most desirable way to spend the day, so people who do it would like to get it done as quickly as possible. Professional housekeeping services, such as housekeeping departments at hospitals, nursing homes, motels, and similar institutions, are equally interested in getting the job done quickly and efficiently to save labor costs. Several specialized cleaning tools and implements have been developed, but for certain tasks such as washing dishes by hand, they have proven to be unsatisfactory. Cleaning cloth with an abrasive surface would resolve this problem. The cloth features a triangular area in one corner which is covered with an abrasive microfiber surface on one side for scrubbing. The remainder of the cloth features the usual soft fabric surface, preferably cotton or a lint-free synthetic weave. The cloth would allow the user to rapidly switch between cleaning techniques without changing tools.

Accordingly, the invention is directed to a cleaning cloth with an abrasive surface. The cloth features a triangular area in one corner which is covered with an abrasive microfiber surface on one side for scrubbing. The remainder of the cloth features the usual soft fabric surface, preferably cotton or a lint-free synthetic weave. The cloth would allow the user to rapidly switch between cleaning techniques without changing tools.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring now to the invention in more detail, the invention is directed to a cleaning cloth 10 with an abrasive surface 13. The cloth 10 features a triangular area 12 in one corner which is covered with an abrasive surface 13 of microfibers on one side for scrubbing. The remainder of the cloth 10 features a standard surface 11, preferably manufactured from a soft fabric such as cotton or a lint-free synthetic weave. The standard surface would preferably cover both sides of the cloth 10, except for the triangular region 12. The cloth 10 would allow the user to rapidly switch between cleaning techniques without changing tools.

The device is presented in one exemplary embodiment. The first exemplary embodiment features a rectangular cleaning cloth 10, preferably manufactured from a soft, flexible, durable fabric such as cotton, a cotton-rayon blend, or a cotton-polyester blend. To use the first exemplary embodiment, the user employs the cloth 10 to clean most surfaces with the standard surface 11. When a difficult cleaning situation is encountered that requires scrubbing, the user repositions, inverts, or turns the cloth 10 such that the triangular area 12 is in contact with the surface to be cleaned. This exposes the abrasive surface 13 to the surface to be cleaned.

The cloth 10 is preferably manufactured from a flexible, durable fabric such as cotton, a cotton-rayon blend, or a cotton-polyester blend or a lint-free synthetic weave. The triangular area 12 is preferably manufactured from a flexible, durable material with a gently abrasive microfiber surface, such as plastic or nylon fibers. Components, component sizes, and materials listed above are preferable, but artisans will recognize that alternate components and materials could be selected without altering the scope of the invention.

While the foregoing written description of the invention enables one of ordinary skill to make and use what is presently considered to be the best mode thereof, those of ordinary skill in the art will understand and appreciate the existence of variations, combinations, and equivalents of the specific embodiment, method, and examples herein. The invention should, therefore, not be limited by the above described embodiment, method, and examples, but by all embodiments and methods within the scope and spirit of the invention.

Claims

1. A cleaning cloth comprising a cloth; an area; said area being positioned on the surface of said cloth; a standard surface; said standard surface entirely covering the exterior of said cloth except for said area; said area being covered with an abrasive surface.

2. The cleaning cloth of claim 1 wherein said standard surface is a lint-free synthetic weave.

3. The cleaning cloth of claim 1 wherein said area is triangular in shape.

4. The cleaning cloth of claim 1 wherein said abrasive surface is made of plastic or nylon microfibers.

5. The cleaning cloth of claim 3 wherein said standard surface is a lint-free synthetic weave.

6. The cleaning cloth of claim 4 wherein said standard surface is a lint-free synthetic weave.

7. The cleaning cloth of claim 4 wherein said area is triangular in shape.

8. The cleaning cloth of claim 7 wherein said standard surface is a lint-free synthetic weave.

9. The cleaning cloth of claim 1 wherein said standard surface is made of a cotton fabric material.

10. The cleaning cloth of claim 3 wherein said standard surface is made of a cotton fabric material.

11. The cleaning cloth of claim 4 wherein said standard surface is made of a cotton fabric material.
