DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

A portable blanket used as a play and/or rest area when opened, converting to a tote, able to carry small items including books and toys when closed. While open, the Portable Fabric Play/Rest Area For Babies Converting Into A Tote provides a soft, clean place for a baby or toddler to lay, sit and or play.

The shape is circular, 36″ in diameter, providing an area on which to place the child and their various accessories. The upper surface fabric is soft fleece, while the bottom surface fabric is water resistant. Both are made with washable fabrics to allow cleaning Sewn around the circumference is a 1″ wide fabric sleeve containing a draw cord. When tightened, the product converts from a flat two dimensional blanket shape, into a three dimensional tote. While in the flat blanket form, the draw cord remains retracted in the draw cord sleeve. There are two diametrically opposed openings in the draw cord sleeve allowing access to the draw cord. By tightening the designated half of the draw cord at a time, the transition from the flat blanket shape into the tote configuration is even.

Two flat webbing carrying handles are adjacent to the openings in the draw cord sleeve. These handles are 1″ thick and measure approximately 3″ wide by 17″ long. The base of the handles are sewn into exterior pockets centered over the draw cord access points, forming U-shaped handles. There are two pockets, each diametrically opposed to one another, measuring 7″ wide by 9″ high with a zipper to fasten. When the tote is in the flat blanket configuration, these handles are stowed in the pockets fastened by zippers and out of the way on the bottom surface.

In the tote configuration, the tote measures approximately 31″ long including the carrying handles. The excess draw cord that was used to tighten the tote converting into carrying mode, is simply inserted into the opening at the top of the tote.
