Heat and Sound Insulation Ball (HASIB)

Heat and Sound Insulation Ball (HASIB) is a hollow ball which has vacuum inside and is made of insulating materials like fiber-reinforced-plastic and glass. The inner and the outer surfaces of HASIB have non-conducting highly reflective coatings. HASIB is a much better heat insulator and its use can reduce the transmission of heat by conduction, convection and radiation. The use of HASIB for heat insulation can save energy and bring down the cost of heating in winter and cooling in summer. HASIB is also a better sound insulator since sound cannot travel through the vacuum inside it. HASIB can be used in the form of HASIB-wrap which can be made by gluing them between two sheets of plastic. HASIBs can also be embedded in the drywall used for the construction of houses to make the drywall a much better heat and sound insulator.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

There is a need for better heat insulators to save energy in the heating and cooling processes. My invention of Heat and Sound Insulation Ball (HASIB) can prove to be a much better heat insulator because it can considerably reduce the transmission of heat by conduction, convection and radiation. My invention can also provide better sound insulation because sound cannot travel through the vacuum inside HASIB.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

My invention is a hollow ball made from insulating materials like fiber-reinforced-plastic and glass. The inner and outer surfaces of the ball have non-conducting highly reflective coatings and there is vacuum inside the hollow ball. The use of my invention can reduce to a great extend the transmission of heat and sound.

DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1: ‘BL’ shows a hollow ball made from fiber-reinforced-plastic or glass, ‘RC’ shows the non-conducting highly reflective coatings on the inner and outer surfaces of the ball and ‘VM’ shows the vacuum inside the hollow ball.

FIG. 2A shows the HASIB-wrap.

FIG. 2B shows the cross sectional view of the HASIB-wrap shown in FIG. 2A. Here ‘HB’ shows the HASIB and ‘PT’ shows the two sheets of plastic in which the HASIBs are glued to form the HASIB-wrap.

FIG. 3A shows a drywall with HASIBs embedded in it.

FIG. 3B shows the cross sectional view of the drywall shown in FIG. 3A. Here ‘PR’ shows the thick paper sheets covering the drywall, ‘HB’ shows the HASIBs, ‘GM’ shows the gypsum in which the HASIBs are embedded and ‘SD’ shows the studs where the drywall is nailed to the walls and the ceiling.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

My invention called HASIB(Heat and Sound Insulation Ball) is a hollow ball which has vacuum inside and is made from insulating materials like fiber-reinforced-plastic and glass. The inner and outer surfaces of the ball have non-conducting highly reflective coatings. The use of HASIB can reduce the transmission of heat and sound.

For manufacturing HASIB two halves of a hollow ball can be made separately and their inner and outer surfaces can be covered with non-conducting highly reflective coatings. The two halves of the ball can then be joined together to form the hollow ball which is then evacuated from inside.

HASIB-wrap formed by gluing HASIBs between two sheets of plastic can be used for more effective heat and sound insulation. Also by embedding HASIBs in the drywall it can be made a much better heat and sound insulator.
