Description
RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims priority to provisional patent application U.S. Ser. No. 62/005,213 filed on May 30, 2014, the entire contents of which is herein incorporated by reference.

BACKGROUND

The embodiments herein relate generally to devices that dispense material such as parchment paper or aluminum foil.

Prior to embodiments of the disclosed invention, parchment paper was difficult to dispense and dispensers had either no cutting blade or metal hack saw blade used for cutting. Aluminum foil also had a metal hack saw blade for cutting and both products came housed in a thin cardboard box that is cumbersome to use and usually falls apart before reaching the end of the roll. Embodiments of the disclosed invention solve these problems.

SUMMARY

A material dispenser is configured to dispense and cut rolled material. The material dispenser has a central cavity configured to hold the rolled material. A forward flap is configured to have a rear central opening that permits a portion of the rolled material to be pulled through the rear central opening. A rear flap is configured to cover the forward flap. A cutting button is embedded onto the rear flap. Folding the rear flap upon the forward flap enables cutting the portion of the rolled material with the cutting button.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF CERTAIN EMBODIMENTS

By way of example, and referring to FIG. 1, one embodiment of material dispenser 10 is configured to distribute rolled material R. Material dispenser 10 comprises forward flap 20 and rear flap 40 attached to central cavity 50.

Turning to forward flap 20 in more detail. Forward flap 20 further comprises forward flap open edge 22 adjacent to forward flap right open edge 24. Forward flap right open edge 24 is perpendicular to forward flap open edge 22. Open edge 22 is configured to provide a rear central opening configured such that a portion of rolled material R can fit through.

Forward flap right open edge 24 is adjacent to forward flap right rear edge 26. Forward flap right rear edge 26 is parallel to forward flap open edge 22 and perpendicular to forward flap right open edge 24.

Forward flap right rear edge 26 is adjacent to forward flap right edge 28. Forward flap right edge 28 is parallel to forward flap right open edge 24 and perpendicular to forward flap right rear edge 26.

Forward flap right edge 28 is adjacent to forward flap forward edge 30. Forward flap forward edge 30 is parallel to forward flap right rear edge 26 and perpendicular to forward flap right edge 28.

Forward flap forward edge 30 is adjacent to forward flap left edge 28. Forward flap left edge 32 is parallel to forward flap right edge 28 and perpendicular to forward flap forward edge 30.

Forward flap left edge 32 is adjacent to forward flap left rear edge 34. Forward flap left rear edge 34 is parallel to forward flap forward edge 30 and perpendicular to forward flap left edge 32.

Forward flap left rear edge 34 is adjacent to forward flap left open edge 35. Forward flap left open edge 35 is parallel to forward flap left edge 32 and perpendicular to forward flap left rear edge 34. Forward flap left open edge 35 is adjacent to forward flap open edge 22.

As shown in FIG. 2, a top side of forward flap 20 is attached to high friction surface 36. As used in this application a high friction surface is one that has a coefficient of static friction greater than one. For example, the high friction surface could be a silicone rubber. High friction surface 36 is arranged parallel to forward flap forward edge 30.

Turning to FIG. 1 and FIG. 3, rear flap 40 further comprises a central channel formed between forward track 42A and rear track 42B. The central channel is configured to accommodate cutting button 48. Cutting button 48 further comprises blade 44 affixed into housing 46. As shown in FIGS. 1-4, an end of roll R is pulled from roll R. Then the end is placed over and upon high friction surface 36. Then rear flap 40 is folded over onto forward flap 20. At that point sliding button 48 in the central channel cuts portion P from roll R.

Central cavity 50 further comprises front side 56. Front side 56 is adjacent to bottom side 68 and forward flap 20. Bottom side 68 is adjacent to rear side 70. Rear side 70 is rear flap 40. Front side 56, bottom side 68, and rear side 70 are each adjacent to left side 58 and right side 60. Right side 60 is adjacent to right support block 64. Left side 58 is adjacent to left support block 66. Bottom side 68 is attached to support feet 70A and 70B. Some embodiments may have more support feet.

In some embodiments, right support block 64 is joined to right roll connection point 52. Right roll connection point 52 is a protrusion configured to support roll R that facilitates roll R rotating within central cavity 50. In some embodiments, left support block 62 is joined to left roll connection point 54. Left roll connection point 54 is a protrusion configured to support roll R that facilitates roll R rotating within central cavity 50.

As used in this application, the term “a” or “an” means “at least one” or “one or more.”
