DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF CERTAIN EMBODIMENTS

In the following detailed description of the invention, numerous details, examples, and embodiments of the invention are described. However, it will be clear and apparent to one skilled in the art that the invention is not limited to the embodiments set forth and that the invention can be adapted for any of several applications.

The portable outdoor fitness studio of the present disclosure may be used as a mobile outdoor fitness facility and may comprise the following elements. This list of possible constituent elements is intended to be exemplary only, and it is not intended that this list be used to limit the device of the present application to just these elements. Persons having ordinary skill in the art relevant to the present disclosure may understand there to be equivalent elements that may be substituted within the present disclosure without changing the essential function or operation of the device.

    • 1. Shell
    • 2. Openable Side Panel
    • 3. Fitness Equipment

The various elements of the portable outdoor fitness studio of the present disclosure may be related in the following exemplary fashion. It is not intended to limit the scope or nature of the relationships between the various elements and the following examples are presented as illustrative examples only.

By way of example, and referring to FIGS. 1-11, some embodiments of the portable outdoor fitness studio of the present disclosure comprise a shell 10, such as a shipping container shell, having at least one openable panel, such as a hydraulic lowering side wall 12, such that when the openable panel is in an openable configuration, the interior of the shell 10 and the surrounding area 48 become an open air workout space, wherein fitness equipment 18 is mounted within and stored within the shell 10 and the portable fitness studio may be configured to be transported using conventional methods for transporting shipping containers. While in use, the fitness equipment 18 may be removed from the shell 10 and used in the surrounding area 48, creating and indoor/outdoor exercise area. The surrounding area 48 may be any desired size and, in some embodiments, may be about 1000 square feet. In embodiments, the at least one openable panel may be one of the longer side panels of the shell 10, wherein the shell comprises a pair of long side panels and a pair of short end panels. In alternative embodiments, the fitness studio may comprise a shell 10 without an openable panel, such that the fitness area is primarily or solely contained within the shell 10. The portable fitness studio may also comprise at least one solar panel 14 mounted to the exterior of the shell 10, wherein the solar panel 14 may be configured to provide power to any electrical components of the portable fitness studio, such as a solar power box 52, the fitness equipment 18, or optional interior lighting 46 or optional exterior lighting 16. Additionally, fitness equipment 18 or other accessories may also be mounted to an exterior of the shell 10.

As shown in the Figures, the openable panel may open in any suitable manner. For example, as shown in FIGS. 1-4, the openable panel may comprise a hydraulic lowering side wall 12. Thus, a conventional side panel of a shipping container may be replaced by a panel 12 that is hingeably attached to a bottom surface of the shipping container, such that the side panel 12 may open downwards, creating more floor space 36, 44 for the workout area. As shown in FIGS. 1-4, two opposite side panels on the shell 10 may each comprise hydraulic lowering side walls 12, creating a first floor space 36 and a second floor space 44, wherein each of the floor spaces 36, 44 may include stenciled designs, such as games. In embodiments comprising a hydraulic lowering side wall 12, at least one wall support 34 may attach a frame of the shell 10 to the hydraulic lowering side wall 12.

Alternatively and as shown in FIGS. 5, 10, and 11, the openable panel may comprise an accordion-style folding wall 40, wherein a conventional side panel of a shipping container may be replaced with an according-style folding wall 40, such that the side panel folds to one end of the shell 10. In yet further embodiments, the openable panel may comprise a garage-style rolling door 50, as shown in FIG. 6, wherein the side panel is configured to roll up into a position proximate to an upper surface of the shell 10. In another embodiment, the openable panel may comprise a pair of double doors 54 that open outwards and opposite from each other, wherein each door is hingeably attached to a surface of the shell 10, as shown in FIG. 7. Alternatively, as shown in FIG. 8, the openable panel may comprise a single, large hingeably openable door 56, wherein the door 56 opens outwardly away from an interior of the shell 10. In another embodiment, the openable panel may comprise a sliding door, such as a barn-style door 58, as shown in FIG. 9, wherein the door 58 is configured to slide along at least a portion of a length of the side panel, creating an opening into an interior of the shell 10. Thus, the openable side panel may be a member selected from the group consisting of a lowering side wall 12, an accordion-style folding wall 40, a garage-style rolling door 50, openable double doors 54, a single openable door 56, and a sliding, barn-style door 58. However, any other suitable side panel that creates an opening into an interior of the shell 10 may be used, such as, for example, an upwardly openable side panel, creating an awning configured to cover a portion of the open-air workout space. In any case, when the portable fitness studio is not in use, the openable panels may be positioned in their closed configurations, resulting in the portable fitness studio being secured and any fitness equipment 18 positioned therein being securely stored. The portable fitness studio may also be transported using conventional shipping methods when the openable side panes are in a closed configuration, as the portable fitness studio may comprise a shell 10 having the approximate size and shape of a conventional shipping container.

In addition to the at least one openable side panel, the shell 10 may further comprise at least one openable end panel. For example, as shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, at least one of the end panels of the shell 10 may comprise an openable end panel, such as a hingeably openable door 42, although other types of openable end panels, such as those similar to the openable side panels, are envisioned. Thus, in some embodiments, the side panels of the shell 10 and the end panels of the shell 10 may all be openable, creating an open environment workout space. However, in other embodiments, at least one of the end panels may comprise a non-openable wall panel 20.

In embodiments, such as that shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, more than one portable fitness studio may be operatively combined to create a larger overall open-air workout space. Additionally, depending on the needs and desires of the user, when the studio or studios are installed or placed in a desired location, the studio may become a permanent or semi-permanent fixture or, alternatively, may remain mobile.

The interior of the portable fitness studio of the present disclosure may have fitness equipment 18 mounted or placed therein, as shown in the Figures. The fitness equipment 18 may be any desired fitness equipment, such as treadmills, bikes, punching bags, weight benches, and so on. The portable fitness studio may also comprise finished walls, flooring, ceilings, and other accessories or fixtures, such as hanging bars 22, weight storage shelves 24, ball storage bars 26, a sound system with speakers 28, a table 30, shelves 32, 38, and the like.

In other embodiments, the portable fitness studio may not have fitness equipment 18 mounted therein, but rather may be transformed into a portable office, restaurant, library, business, DJ booth, healthcare facility, disaster relief facility, an extra room for a house or hotel, or the like by mounting the necessary equipment within the shell 10.

Persons of ordinary skill in the art may appreciate that numerous design configurations may be possible to enjoy the functional benefits of the inventive systems. Thus, given the wide variety of configurations and arrangements of embodiments of the present invention the scope of the invention is reflected by the breadth of the claims below rather than narrowed by the embodiments described above.
