Two-component sock

The inventive step is a sock consisting of two components: the foot and the shin sock. The foot is made of material commonly used for full-length soccer socks. At the ankle, the sock is directly fused to the second component, the shin sock. The shin sock is made of a think material like nylon or polyethylene, thus allowing it to have the elasticity to slide over a shin guard without getting caught.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Athletic socks are commonly made of one thick fabric such as cotton or polyester. This causes problems such as the preventing the sock to slide across the shin guard easily. When the sock is pulled over the shin guard repeatedly, it will fray easily. Another problem is when the shin guard is removed, the excess bulky fabric becomes bunched up at the bottom of the ankle, causing irritation to the skin, especially in hot weather.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The invention pertains to athletic socks and more exactly football or soccer socks. It is composed of two components made of two separate fabrics: the cotton foot and the shin sock.

PRIOR ART

U.S. Pat. No. 4,669,126 describes a full leg sock secured to another partial sock structure.

WO 2014/087181 comprises an ornamental transparent fabric, allowing adhesion to a ball and enhanced ball control.

U.S. Pat. No. 5,581,817 describes a sports sock comprised of a tubular elongated leg section allowing the sock to be folded to sandwich a shin guard.

US 2012/0096616 describes a shin guard sleeve. This sleeve is an accessory to the sock.

None of these foregoing property rights or known solutions describe a two component sock containing separate fabrics.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The inventive step is a sock consisting of two components: the foot and the shin sock. The foot is made of material commonly used for full-length soccer socks. At the ankle, the sock is directly fused to the second component, the shin sock. The shin sock is made of a thin material like nylon or polyethylene, thus allowing it to have the elasticity to slide over a shin guard without getting caught.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING

FIG. 1 is a diagram of the two-component sock.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

As shown in FIG. 1, Section 1 is the bottom component of the sock. Section 1 may be made of fabric such as cotton, polyester, or some combination thereof. The thickness section 1 should allow for comfort and protection. Section 2 is the shin sock. Section 2 is made of thinner material, allowing it to slide across the shin guard easily, decreasing fraying, and reducing the excess bulk of material at the ankle when the shin guard is removed. Examples are nylon, polyethylene, EVA rubber, polypropylene, elastane, etc. The dotted line represents where a shin guard would be located in the two-component sock. Section 3 is where the two components will join together into a single sock.

Accordingly, it is to be understood that the embodiments of the invention herein described are merely illustrative of the application of the principles of the invention. Reference herein to details of the illustrated embodiments is not intended to limit the scope of the claims, which themselves recite those features regarded as essential to the invention.
