COMPOSITE EDGE AND CORNER PROTECTION PIECES

Abstract

This invention relates to a composite edge and corner protection piece, comprising a main body of a protection piece which comprises at least two plates that integrate and connects at a right angle. The plates are coated with a coating layer is made of plastic and combined with the protection piece on the outer side surface of the plates through coated injection molding method. Thus, the composite edge and corner protection piece possesses strength as well as softness, and at same time achieve more effective protection and the need for sturdiness and durability.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD

This invention is related to a type of edge and corner protection piece. More particularly present invention relates to a type of composite edge and corner protection piece used for coupling and fixing retractable appliances at the corner or onto the edge for protection or for reinforcing.

BACKGROUND

Accordingly retractable appliances in general, such as cosmetics boxes, tool boxes etc, are mostly made of light metals, plastic, wood and other light materials. However, materials of lighter weight have relatively lower strength, so when picking up, moving or placing the retractable appliances, the human body or other objects may collide against the corner and the edge, or create impact due to accidental dropping of the items. Such accidental collisions or dropping may cause injuries or damages to other objects, which more frequently results in cracked or damaged corners and edges of retractable appliances, and thus the retractable appliances are no longer usable.

In order to make improvements to the above problems, the relevant industry players developed edge and corner protection piece which corresponds with the morphology of the corner or edge of the retractable appliance. The edge and corner protection piece has many fixing holes. When using it, fasteners are passed through the fixing holes at the edge and corner protection piece, thereby coupling and fixing the edge and corner protection piece to the corner or edge of the retractable appliances.

Presently, conventional edge and corner protection pieces are mainly made from two types of materials—plastic and metals. Amongst the two materials, the edge and corner protection pieces made of plastic materials possess appropriate softness and can achieve a better protective effect, but does not have sufficient strength, thus causing the plastic edge and corner protective pieces to crack and become damaged when the corners and edges of the retractable appliances collide with other objects or are accidentally dropped onto the floor. Thus, their service life is short. The edge and corner protection pieces made of the other material that is metal are sufficiently strong and can meet the requirements of sturdiness and durability. However, their level of softness is not ideal. When the corners and edges of the retractable appliances collide with people or other objects, there may be injuries or damages to other objects. Thus, improvements are necessary in this area.

SUMMARY

Present invention relates to a type of composite edge and corner protection piece, including a main body of the protection piece which comprises at least two plates that integrate and connects at a right angle. Main body is coated with a coating layer is made of plastic and combined with the protection piece on the outer side surface of the plates through coated injection molding method. Thus, the composite edge and corner protection piece possesses strength as well as softness, and at same time achieve more effective protection and the meets the need for sturdiness and durability.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

In view that the conventional edge and corner protection pieces cannot possess both the strength and softness levels, a practical drawback exists. With more thinking and creative ideas, multilateral exploration and trial sample tests, and much amendments and improvements, the invention is launched.

The invention provides a type of composite edge and corner protection piece which includes: a main body of a protective piece with a coating layer. The main body of the protective piece is made of metal, and comprises at least two plates that are connected at a right angle, and have outer and inner side surfaces. The plates possess fixing holes. The main body is coated with aplastic coating layer, and combined with the protection piece on the outer sides of the plates through coated injection molding method, and a coating segment is extended into the inner sides of the plates. While using fasteners are passed through the fixing holes of the edge and corner protection piece, thereby coupling and fixing the edge and corner protection piece to the corner or edge of the retractable appliances.

As described above, the composite edge and corner protection piece corresponds to the morphology of the corners of the retractable appliance. The main body of the protection piece may include three 3 plates that are integrally formed and linked at right angles.

The main objective of this invention is that the composite edge and corner protection piece has a protective plate made of metal coated with a plastic coating layer. It possesses both strength and softness levels, achieving better protective effects and the requirements of sturdiness and durability at the same time.

A secondary objective of this invention is—as the composite edge and corner protection piece has a protective plate coating made from metallic materials on the outer side of the main body, coupled with the plastic material coating layer, the color of the plastic coating layer can be changed freely so that the visual effect of the composite edge and corner protection piece is rich and varied.

As seen from FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, the composite edge and corner protection piece 1 correspond to the morphology of the corner of the retracting appliance. It includes: a main body (11) comprising three plates 111 made of metallic material and coated with a coating layer 12. The 3 plates 111 are integrally formed and connected at right angles to each other, and a fitting space 112 is formed between the three plates 111. The three plates have outer and inner side surfaces, and have fixing holes 1111 on them. The Coating layer 12 comprises a soft plastic material, and coating injection molding method is used to couple the outer side surface of the 3 plates 111 of the main body 11 of the protection piece 1. Further, a coating segment 121 is extended towards the inner side surface of the three plates 111 via the sides of the three plates 111. Therefore, the coating layer 12 and the main body of the protection piece 11 are integrally joined.

FIG. 4 depicts the usage of the composite edge and corner protection piece 1 whereby the fitting space 112 of the main body 11 of the protection piece 1 is fitted at the corner of the retractable appliance 2. As an example, the retractable appliance 2 used for the implementation example is a cosmetic box. Fasteners 3 passes through the coating layer 12 and the fixing holes 1111 of the plates 111 of the main body 11 of the protection piece 1, so as to be compacted to the retractable appliance 2. Thus composite edge and corner protection piece 1 is fastened to the corner of the retractable appliance 2 which prevents injuries or damages to other objects when the corner of the retractable appliance 2 collides with people or other objects. It also avoids damages to the retractable appliance 2 from external collision impact.

Additionally, as seen in FIGS. 5 and 6, the corresponding morphology of the composite edge and corner protection piece 1 to the edge of the retractable appliance 2 includes: a main body 11 of the protection piece 1 made of metallic material and a coating layer 12. Main body 11 comprises two plates 111 that are integrally formed and linked at a right angle. A fitting space 112 is formed between the two plates 111. The two plates 111 are designed with fixing holes 1111 and coated with coating layer 12 which is a soft layer, made up of plastic. Coating injection molding method is used to couple with the outer side surface of the two plates 111 of the main body 11 of the protection piece 1. Further, a coating segment 121 is extended towards inner side surface of the two plates 111 at the sides of the two plates 111, and embedded into the fixing holes 1111 of the two plates 111. This ensures that the coating layer 12 and the main body 11 of the protection piece 1 are integrally joined.

Edges of the retractable appliance 2 is fitted to the composite edge and corner protection piece 1, fit to the fitting space 112 of the main body 11 of protection piece 1, by passing fastners 3 to pass through coating layer 12 and the fixing hole 1111 of the two plates 111 of the main body 11 of the protection piece 1, thereby integrating with the retractable appliance 2. Therefore, the composite edge and corner protection piece 1 is coupled and fixed to the edge of the retractable appliance 2, and prevents injuries or damages to objects when the edge of the retractable appliance 2 collides with people or other objects. It also avoids damages to the retractable appliance 2 from external collision impact.

Based on the structure of the implementation example described above, the following effects can be achieved:

This invention of the composite edge and corner protection piece possesses both the strength and softness levels due to strength of the outer side surface of the main body 11 of its metallic protective plate 111 in combination with the soft plastic coating layer 12. At the same time, it achieves the better protective effect and the requirements of sturdiness and durability, and thus its practicality is enhanced.

This invention of the composite edge and corner protection layer is the coupling of the coating of the side surface of the main body of the metallic protective layer 11 to the plastic coating layer 12. Due to the nature of the plastic coating layer 12, its color may be freely changed by adding pigments to the raw material, and the external appearance of the composite edge and corner protection piece would become richer and varied, and be in easy coordination with the retractable appliance.

In summary of the above, this invention has indeed achieved its structural breakthrough with improvements in the creative contents. At the same time, it also achieved in industrial utilization and progress.

Claims

1. A composite edge and corner protective piece, comprising:

a main body comprising at least two metal plates integrally attached at a right angle to each other; wherein

the plates have outer and inner side surfaces; and

the outer surface of the plates is coated with a plastic layer using a coated injection molding method; and

wherein the inner side surface of each plate of the main body of the protection piece has an extended coating segment from the coating layer.

2. The composite edge and corner protection piece according to claim 1, wherein the plates of the main body of the protection piece have fixing holes.

3. The composite edge and corner protection piece according to claim 1, wherein the main body of the protection piece comprises three plates that are integrally formed and linked at right angles.

4. The composite edge and corner protection piece according to claim 3, wherein the three plates of the main body of the protection piece form a fitting space.

5. The composite edge and corner protection piece according to claim 1, wherein the main body of the protection piece comprises two plates that are integrally formed and linked at a right angle.

6. The composite edge and corner protection piece according to claim 5, wherein a fitting space is formed between the two plates of the main body of the protection piece.

7. The composite edge and corner protection piece according to claim 1, wherein the coating layer is embedded in the fixing holes on the plates of the main body of the protection piece.
